1: No I would not like to go
2: Radiation shielding is needed in interplanetary space and on your base. They have none.
3: Sure a human could survive for 5-10 yrs, but not the plants exposed to radiation. They would be infertile. That means no food, and that means dead.
4: You mean a reality tv show showing me trying to date some scientist on mars? Wow, new low for entertainment. There would most likely be nothing interesting except waiting. It's a cramped capsule, what do you expect?.
5: If you want successful reality TV you need people who are dumb, not smart people. Smart people, eg trained engineers, astronauts, computer scientists, all of these people are what a colony needs. What a TV show needs is hot girls with boobs.
6: I have no problem with hot scientists, but seriously, you won't get people being as emotional. Which means we take civillians, which is what we don't want for a colony.
7: A burrowed colony would be smarter.

Also, going to the moon is smarter and more useful. You can ship your mining materials out to earth using a ski-lift cable, pretty much. And the Earth can ship your things to you quickly.

Good points. But the idea is good anyway...no one made this before. Cmon,im just a 15 years old boy who loves science fiction! A ideia like this make my head spin

The public vote thing will only start when they are sorted the 8 teams. Then they will choose who go first
Also,what will be documented is the going,the learning,the psicosocial things and everything. Not a "Big Brother Brazil" [Brazilian reality show where people live in a mansion] They are giving their lives for something like this...also,they have solutions for radiation and all,at least is what i think

Erm... I am a 15-year-old boy who loves science fiction as well.
Doesn´t mean I freak out when I hear that, in fact I´ve been reading a pop-science magazine that is pretty good if you are able to focus on the facts and disregard glorification.
It´s been writing essays about mars colonization for a while now, and as far as I know China will propably be the first one to make a serious Mars-mission (they are also gonna be the next one to set foot upon the moon), altough mars-one might be the first profit-making exploration mission, considering they´re planning to film those guys during the training and the actual mission.
I also heard about a NASA/ESA project to send people to Mars and back.
Also, I think you don´t need to explain "Big Brother", it runs almost everywhere (well, maybe not at Iv´s place...).
