Fusion reactors release Gamma radiation as far as I know.

that is very unlikely to interact with you, but for extended durations it can be bad

I think you fail to realize that going to Mars would have to be times so precisely it could take centuries before the perfect alignment and weather would allow for a launch Mars. Instead, you would first need a base on a Lagrange point(4 or 5) from which to fuel and launch a ship, for considerably less fuel usage.

So... they arent planning on sending anybody anytime soon right? If this is the case... where can I apply? XD

My reply: It wouldnt take centuries to to get an alignment. It might take a couple years for an alignment to happen... ten at most I would guess, but the window of opportunity would be several days long which is long enough to allow any weather problems to subside.

I will explain : A private group of visionares and scientists are creating a global effort to create a permanent colony on Mars. The trip is a one way ticket.

Also, moon is not a good option for a base. Look,we dont have good resources in the moon. If you want to go,you have to dream very high. So they are begining in mars. Also, the study that they will have there will create better "green" technologys and new areas of study as Xenobiology and Xenogeology.

They can get there in 6 weeks with the Space X new engine.
They will surpass NASA. Everyone know that nasa was abandoned by everyone.

It would take a long time for the proper alignment. This I because Mars' year is 2 times that of earth, and its' orbit is considerably more eccentric. This means the window for launching a spacecraft is very slim, so that it doesn't overshoot and get smashed in the asteroid belt as it turns around, and so that it doesn't undershoot and get left floating in space behind Mars. The launch can be stopped by weather or other emergencies, and would be canceled for the next proper alignment, which would take about 7 years to get to optimal launch orbit. During this time, funding could cut or other domestic disasters could wreak havoc on the spacecraft or its proposed occupants.

In the end, it's simpler to just build at L5 in Earth-Moon or L5 of Earth-Sun and launch spacecraft from the Lagrange points. It's very fuel cheap to go from Lagrage point to Lagrage point.

I would apply, but I don't think I would be allowed due to possible psychological problems.

Mars and Earth reach perfect positions for launch every two years. Are you sure you want to go there ? as I said it's not a field trip - you remain there for the rest of your life.

It's an ambitious project. It certainly has potential. Whether it can be completed remains to be seen.

And in the long run, Mars would be a LOT EASIER to terraform than the moon. It already has a (albeit thin) atmosphere, and it used to have an earth-like one. We just set up large Coal Power Plants (Tapping into the coal left under the surface of mars from the ancient life), pump out a decent atmosphere, plant trees and life to make oxygen, and profit.

Whether it succeeds remains to be seen.

When we get there will be a alien saying "YOU SHALL NOT PASS"

Danm, mars is like "Earth 2". Someone screwed up him in the past.

Point is that this is not a try to colonize Mars, rather just put a dew people on it ,it is not a true colony. If you want to stick people in space the moon is a better alternative with the ability to be more useful to science etc.

WWhat??

NO!

Mars was a planet full of life! It will be good to understand how planets like ours form and became in years!
Danm,moon is a place without nothing,just a rock.

Mars is a more interesting rock. We can encouter live there. If we go more far,we can find tribal things and such. Bacterias, everything
