Re: Tau Leonis
Name: Markus Error
Age: 22
Species: Human
Role: Freighter pilot
Short Bio: Growing up on Terra, Markus felt that his...talents...were of better use on the Far frontier.
Personality: A bit strange, but generally laid-back and relaxed.
Other Info: A near-magical ability to escape sticky situations, and a backstory that
DOES NOT IN ANY WAY involve low-level mental powers, AT ALL.

Re: Tau Leonis
Name: Tik
Race: Bird like alien race, physiological pretty similar to the Chozo

Age: 38
Role: Scientist for Dark Matter crystals and the exotic radiation they emit.
Rank (not military): Member of the "Society of Leo anomaly researchers" S.O.L.A.R.
+exchange scientist from the J.S.F.
Bio:
Hatched from an egg which was found on the home world of the J.S.F after it crashed like an asteroid on the surface of the planet. The Crasarians found it and realized that the thing inside the
rescue pod still lives. They build a machine to breed the egg on the planet Theteus IV. After he hatched, the Aquans discovered a secret case in the escape pod with a strange device inside
of it. In a manual they were told to put the device in his neck.

It turns out that the device is used to read "Mind chips", AI's copied from the mind of his parents.
Then he heard about the anomaly's in the Leo sector and gone there as an exchange scientist. After he contacted the other scientist in the Delta Leonis system, he told Tik about
S.O.L.A.R. and Tik joined the society. Then S.O.L.A.R. sent him to Tau Leonis to research Tau Leonis V.
Personality: According to which Mind Chip he has activated he can be cold and accurate, to friendly and sentimental.
Other info: He always wears a necklace with a trinket attached to it, where he stores the mind chips. He can live without the Mind Chips, but the mind chips have all the knowledge and the personality of his parents, his teacher and a tactical AI stored. he lives in a research station over Tau Leonis IV-A. He has a spaceship with a bunch of sensors, a probe/drone launcher, a planetary
lander and he can use the laser from his laboratory as a mining beam and a light weapon if he installed it.

Re: Tau Leonis
I would recommend a spoilering of those pictures, Julo. I would also recommend a character belonging to one of your pre-established races (or maybe steal one from someone else).
Also, Fenway, could you add some more 0s after that 20 in the Tau V description?

Re: Tau Leonis
OOC: Markus Error accepted. I figured it out Catsonmeth- You, with the potential for great things, have been allowed limited access to the crystals. Certain people are allowed access to certain crystals. If any tests are run on them, usually disposable subjects are used. Their effects can be counteracted, but most of the subjects are exterminated after their test, as they are condemned inmates on death sentences or otherwise. If not on death sentence, they are usually company matters or such, as the military has allowed a few to access the crystals based on eligibility, potential for great things, or otherwise. This is your eligibility. Only certain ones, and at your own risk. Because they may or may not be completely tested or deemed safe by disposable subjects.
Julo is denied, because you seem to be under the impression that the anomaly is public knowledge. Sure, there are a few people who know, and everyone is aware of the military blockade, but it isn't publicly known to be an 'anomaly'. Also, we already have a dark matter crystal researcher. And this is a rare anomaly, too rare for an entire society for it. You should rethink it and such.
And for pete's sake, spoiler those images!

Re: Tau Leonis
Well, I was going for more of a "I have this one crystal that I went through hell to get and no one else knows." kind of thing, but if you won't allow that he'll be a government researcher. Or maybe he used to be a government researcher...Professor Fenway wrote:OOC: I figured it out Catsonmeth- You are a military-sponsored researcher. Re: Tau Leonis
'Narek stumbled into his station's medical office, blood dripping onto the floor from his wounded right forearm. He was glad to see that no patients occupied the cots. A single physician that was placing items in a locker across the room looked up at 'Narek and stood.
"Can I help you sir?" The human began to approach 'Narek.
"Get me a scalpel and get out."
"Sir, you're blee-"
"Bring me a knife and remove yourself. Please."
The doctor hurriedly glanced around the area and saw a mobile surgical table near an ultraviolet sanitation station. He opened the acrylic dome from the station and removed a tray of equipment, placed it on the table, and pushed the table to 'Narek. Then he half-jogged out of the medical ward. After the human had left, 'Narek checked the corners of the room and disabled all security sensors. He covered the window on the door with a lead-lined sheet before concealing himself and the table behind a privacy curtain.
The feles placed his right forearm on the table beside the instrument tray and removed a long-bladed scalpel. He shaved blood-soaked fur from around the laceration, then sanitized the knife and skin with an alcohol solution. He placed he knife on the whole, parallel to his arm, and applied slight pressure to the handle, sliding it five centimeters toward his elbow, careful not to sever any major arteries or hit any large nerves. 'Narek laid the knife on a gauze pad and picked up a pair of forceps from the tray. The fingers that had tendons intact balled into a fist as the he moved the forceps into his arm. Neglecting painkillers seemed foolish now. The titanium pliers touched something hard and 'Narek pulled the handles apart, then squeezed them together, grasping what was buried in the arm. He slowly, carefully pulled the shard out and laid it in his palm. The four centimeter long shard was worth much more to him than his arm. The shard he placed in a small, padded, lead-U238 container, then 'Narek hid the box in an inner pocket of his robe. He pressed a button on the wall near his the bed that he was using as a seat.
"Doctor, I require your assistance."
"Yes sir."

Re: Tau Leonis
Name: Por'dna
Age: 54, which is middle-aged to old for a Quentar as well. Por'dna is still physically active.
Species: Quentar (Techno-religious Terran outcasts, augmented with biological and technological implants, most notably their augmented eyes and wings protruding from their back. On their homeworld with an earth-like atmosphere and a .3 gs of gravity, these wings allow them to fly, but here on the main planets of Tau, they serve purely as symbols of difference and of the shunned bio-tech that the Quentar were outcast for.)
Role: Diplomat for the Quentar to the Terrans, serving mostly on Tau I. Also serves as an undercover agent for the unorganized rebellion, feeding them careful info about the ongoing of the government.
Rank (If applicable): Lead Ambassador for the Quentar to Tau Leonis.
Short Bio: The Quentar are a secretive race and mistrust the Terrans. Por'dna is the exception to this rule. He has always felt that his wings are a symbol of who he is, not who he must hate. He is close friends with several government authorities, notably the Tau Chief Justice, who is a rough man who isn't afraid to dish out the punishment, whether the evidence supports him or not, and the captain of a small outpost in the asteroid belt, a friendly veteran who enjoys living in solitude among the wastes of the belt. Recently, though, Jord (As he allows the Terrans call him) has been feeling that the government he is ambassador to does not serve the true ways of it's people, and has been working in secret to overthrow it. He is conflicted, because he knows success means the death of his friends, yet failure means the continuation of the suffering.
Personality: Calm, collected, rational, and fair up to a point. Jord does not take insults well. He was exiled from the Quentar for the murder during a duel of another Quentar who insulted his friend. Jord tries to appear indifferent in matters of religion, but secretly still believes in the old Quentar ways.
Other Info: Carries on him at all times his sacred minidisk on which the Quentar holy book is held. Also carries a supplement that will drastically metamorphosize him into a Full-Winged, a Quentar warrior-holyperson with the ability of true flight even in full-g, nigh-invulnerability, and greatly enhanced physical powers, but with the side effect of total memory loss and a drastically shortened lifespan. He hopes he never has to take it, but if he does, he has a memory-recall minidisk he hopes he will remember to watch to remember what is important. Has basic experience flying a starship and some millitary experience in the Terran army.
