Well considering the show was originally aimed at little girls... I don't think you should really be ashamed that they are pointing out the original target audience, though I understand they have adapted to fit their new following, and I mean MLP has always been a girls toy, always (until the TV series became popular on 4chan).

You know, they aren´t just pointing at the show, they are pointing at Bronies.
With a "these guys are stupid"-sign.
Also, again, every Brony will be able to verify that there was a giant design change between the pld generations and the current G4.
Why? Because it was no longer produced like the little girls show it was previously, but like any other cartoon.
The most "girly" thing is the species of the characters.
But you know what?
Just for get this.
I don´t want me or any other Brony measured by the show, as it aint just the show that fascinated me.
I became a Brony when the fan-community was already well-developed. It was the fanwork and the inofficial interpretions of the show that kept me interested.
With the development of Bronies, MLP has expanded from 2 to 3 branches: Toys, TV show and now Fanwork.
I don´t buy the toys, I don´t even watch every episode, but I keep close ties to the fanwork, becaus ethat´s what MLP is for me:
A universe that has been interpreted, derailed and speculated about by many people, creating a massive ammount of fanwork incomparable to any other franchise.
Seriously, where else do you get the Valeyard investigating murders to protect his love (Twillight) while the Master dates a serial killer (Pinkamina) and some random child (Scootaloo) makes love potions? (seriously, that´s one of the most develpoed fan-universes out there)
No, there isn´t just grimdark stuff out there.
There´s everything. Believe me, everything means every. single. thing. including. stuff. that. will. explode. your. eyeballs. (without proper training)

It took me 2 hours of intensive therapeutic chatting to get him back to a proper state.
