I think they all do pretty much the same damage. It's just one of them can lock on to air targets but can also dumbfire, one of the can lock on to ground targets, but can also dumbfire, and one can lock on to both air and ground targets but cannot dumbfire.
Lock-on missiles do a fraction of the damage a dumbfire missile does but have a much better chance at hitting aircraft and distant vehicle targets.

All sorts of good news!
It seems there's been an optimization hotfix and I can now play with a constant 30 frames per second in multi-platoon fights.
Also I believe account-level unlocks have been added to the game, so I can finally create a character on the server we've chosen, whatever it ended up being.

Created a TR character on Helios, name KayraTR. Played two minutes, got to battlerank 2 and a K/D of 3!
