I could see a program like that getting an impressive headcount if you conned people in by making it video game themed. By the time they realize video game development is one of the most difficult and competetive branches of computer science and that they will suck at it for years and years after dedicating their life to the science, it will be too late. >:D

Or they'll make Tetris in visual basic and call it a success. Depends on the curriculum I suppose.

See our school system keeps almost everything up to you. It works on points system - each subject is worth a few points. History for example is worth 2. Overall in order to get a full diploma you need at least 21 points. There are mandatory subjects such as history and literature, and there are also math and English which are mandatory but can be studied on 3 different levels - 3, 4 and 5 points ( I study 5 points both). The more points the higher are the requirements. All the mandatory subjects however are not enough to get 21 points. In order to do so you need to choose at least one specialized subject that you will study for 5 points. The more points you get BTW the more prestigious your diploma is. I for example study physics for 5 points and programming for 10 (5 points theoretical + 5 points project).

Most heavy subjects such as chemistry or biology etc. are not mandatory and you can choose what you want to study. Overall the high schools here differ by the set of those subjects they offer to their students with the possible subjects varying from specialized sports (Yes there is such thing) to aeronautics electronics and robotics. All the programs and final exams for those subjects are created and monitored by the ministry of education so the programs in each subject are identical.

That's a neat system. We have points but it's more like: "Each year you get 5 points if you pass in that subject, or zero in that subject if you fail. After 4 years, if you don't have 20 in all required subjects, 10 in PE, and then some other *, you can't graduate"
