Pretty much. The game is similar to Dawn of War, but plays much better IMO.

Dawn of War uses the same combat system as Company of Heroes, made by the same publisher. Essentially the same game with different skins.
And CoH has the best gameplay of any franchise I know of, Spamcraft included :p

My problem with Starcraft was that after playing SoaSE the interface seemed really bad, especially the way you move your viewpoint. And it's a game that encourages huge swarms of identical units, but for the Zerg at least that's completely intentional and exactly as it should be.

I got Starcraft: Wings of Liberty little over a month ago, I've loved it so far. I'm more into the multiplayer ladder/arcade aspect of the game. Any way if so many of us play this game we can add this to our "social gaming weekend game list"

Forgive me, the trick is spamming the right kind of unit. Doesn't make it any more strategic, at least not moreso than CoH or DoW.

I dare you spamming me in CoH. You will get annihilated. You need to counter units on the field which means creating many types of units some of which are just unspamable. CoH has A LOT of way to kill big blobs of enemies ranging from HMGs against infantry ending with a freaking V1 against pretty much anything. It's a game about building defences and breaking them. SC is a different kind of gameplay where there are almost no static defences and they are not that practical.

That's sorta my point. CoH has a lot more strategic depth than Starcraft, which essentially consists of choosing an optimum build order and spamming units. Justified in its arcadiness, but calling its gameplay superior to that which comes from THQ (DoW & CoH) is a mistake.
C&C is even worse..

Total Annihiliation or its successor, Supreme Commander.
SpringRTS also has some massive battles.

The first SupCom is much better. Square Enix really dropped the ball on the sequel

Once again - CoH has far worse gameplay. I got it free as part of the THQ bundle and I'm not impressed. Smaller unit numbers does NOT mean superior gameplay when it's possible to set up 3 units at one choke point and your enemy can't do ANYTHING to you, no matter how far ahead they are. TBH it caters to the bad players more than the good ones. Same goes for DoW. And I don't know what you mean about not spamming; all I've done so far is build a ton of heavy infantry units with a rocket launcher or two and I have yet to lose a game...same as I did in DoW.
