Re: 650ti vs 660
I'm a computer geek but I dont get these numbers so... instead of posting some big long post that gets into the all the techy stuff like frostbyte would I'm going to say this. 660 is bigger than 650 therefore better. Thats my logic for ya.

Yes, according to my techy calculations, it is at least 10 better.

630 is bigger than 590. Using your logic, wouldn't that make it 40 better Mr. Computer Geek?

Re: 650ti vs 660
I do wonder what nvidia will do once they run out of digits again. Think they'll lop off another decimal place and start on the 10 series?

Re: 650ti vs 660
Good question. if they just add a 10 to the front there'll end up being some serious confusion between their cards and AMD's.
Hopefully both companies will play their cards close to their chests and only release new generations of cards when an industry-changing event occurs.

It's already kind of weird now that AMD has caught up to NVIDIA's old numbering scheme. I am constantly getting confused with what hardware people are referring to.

Re: 650ti vs 660
Another good point. If a piece of hardware fades into irrelevancy, than there shouldn't be much of a question of exactly what card a person is referring to. On top of that, there's also the 'GTX' and 'Radeon HD' postscripts to distinguish the two.fr0stbyte124 wrote:It's already kind of weird now that AMD has caught up to NVIDIA's old numbering scheme. Re: 650ti vs 660
But in this topic, I just said 660 vs. 650ti, with no nvidia in front of it, or gtx. Everyone knew what I was referring to. In 10 years, 660 will probably be unheard of.

Re: 650ti vs 660
No just there is no Radeon HD 650Ti so it's quite clear what you are talking about but if I say 7670 you might get confused here (actually no because Nvidia kept their numbers round: the last two digits were zero).
They're watching ...

But you see how they might be misinterpreted if you are not paying close enough attention. I've confused myself several times by misreading the model.
