Isn't this meant to be a replica of something like a Protector class (is that right?) from BSG?

That's right! The Protector class heavy cruiser is a Battlestar fanon ship type in the Battlestar Hyperion Series written by Jim Quigley.

Like Mac said, it is a pretty ugly ship, but (like Serenity) I think that's part of its charm.

I put a little more time into the flight pod today and I'm pretty happy with the armor. All that's left for them is slapping on some AA guns, making the launch tubes, adding a shuttle bay or two, and the interiors, too. So there's actually a lot left now that I see it written (typed) down. /:|

I have been filling a note book with various traits of ships, and this is the first time something wasn't made obvious as a flaw. So, sorta nefarious.

I don't like the design of the ship (but that's not your fault, it's the designers of BSG), but your detailing is excellent.
