Considering you refuse to use mods, it looks amazing.

I don't refuse. I just haven't found any that are particularly useful (although I am using the fighter in the Flan's Content Pack), could you recommend any?Ivan2006 wrote:Considering you refuse to use mods, it looks amazing.

Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
For the triangle section, I would recommend a large turret that's connected to both the floor and the ceiling by a vertical shaft thing. Not sure how to say that.

Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
Alright! It took about 7 hours, but I completed the interior for the fighter launch-area. Each fighter-arm has 20 launch tubes, and so the carrier can launch 40 fighters at once (although it can store more). There are still a few things that I need to patch up (like the blank red walls in the launch tubes, or the missing railway), but overall, I'm happy with how the build is going. However, I have no idea what to do with the extensive outside, and was hoping someone would provide a few ideas...?
First, a picture of the fighter arm (you can see why the exterior needs more detail):
Now, here's the exciting stuff:

Add semi-random lines and bumps. Call it life support, shielding, armor plates, whatever. Just add...texture, for lack of a better word, and It'll improve.

Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
Yep: I'm building the interior. Does that make me insane? Probably. But, it gives me a chance to add depth not usually found in our ships. I think the engines and generator are going to be the most fun (then again, if it's powered by a ZPM, I can hold the power for the entire ship in one hand).Iv121 wrote:You're also building interior ? Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
Okay, today I built the turrets along the front of the main section. However, I'd just like to share a quite view of how the ship is looking:

Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
I couldn't install large rail guns in the arms, there's not enough room to put an ammo rail, as the arms and part of the body are designed to separate from the rest of the ship for landing (the full explanation would take too long). That is why the main rail-guns are mounted on the wings, plenty of space for an ammo rack, and space to aim.blockman42 wrote:why not two, one on each arm?Keon wrote:Needs a really big center railgun.
Here's a few pictures of one of the quad-batteries and another, smaller, turret:

Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
Well, if you want to make interiors, the Universal Electricity-mods are good, because they usually have some pretty well-looking machines. Also has pretty realistic nuclear reactor.Dr. Mackeroth wrote:I don't refuse. For light turrets I recommend cables from IC² connected to an unsuspecting MFE.
For realistic liquid storage: Railcraft Iron Tanks. Don´t forget to also have a mod (Forestry) that gives you additional liquids and cans to put them into or you will spend days just filling your tanks.
As you already do, Flan´s mod for fighters, but not for guns, as Flan´s guns can´t be placed on the bottom of a block, making it impossible to have it look more effective than the Space Battleship Yamato.
Also for interiors, Computercraft gives you nice, big screens.
Also, looked it up especially for you: The Stargate Mod! for Naquadah. forget the Stargates themselves, they look crap.
Edit: totally forgot RP2 for detailing.
