That is incredible, and I love the realistic approach. The shape of the basic structure is a bit bland for my taste, not that I can do any better though.
Anything can be learnt, it is simply how willing you are to learn.

Blockman based his ship off this picture:
So did I. However, I am changing the design significantly. I'm going to try and do as much of the design of the body as I can for myself, I'm going to remove the ugly lower arm, and I'm going to add two more smaller arms on top of the ones the ship's already got.
Thanks for the praise guys! And don't worry Talon, it'll get more detailed.

Okay, here's a (slightly distorted and rather fuzzy) drawing of what the ship will look like:
I've also done more work on the hull, and have added a lot of detail along the mech storage area I posted last time.

Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
It's a good design, proportions seem ok, this one looks promising
Hopefully you can follow a sketch better than I can, although I find its easier to do sketches using something like paint.net, because then it displays the gradient of each line.

Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
Thanks! So far, I've constructed around around a third of the main portion of the ship (just the hull, no detailing or interior yet), and I've managed to stick to the plans.

Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
I'd suggest making the ship longer, its a bit stubby.

Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
The problem is I plan on doing the interior, and adding a lot of detail. So the smaller, the better. However, if I find a way to extend the length to 830 blocks, then it will be in the golden ratio...blockman42 wrote:I'd suggest making the ship longer, its a bit stubby.

Just because a ship is big, it doesn't mean that you can't put a lot of detail into it. But right now design needs to be lengthened to even look good.Dr. Mackeroth wrote:The problem is I plan on doing the interior, and adding a lot of detail. So the smaller, the better. Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
It looks longer on paper. The camera made it bulge a bit in the middle. I think the problem is the main body is too small in comparison to the arms. Unfortunately, in the actual ship, I've solved this by making the body wider.blockman42 wrote:Just because a ship is big, it doesn't mean that you can't put a lot of detail into it. Re: Wings of The Schmetterling
Alright, next update: a section of the detailed-outside, a close up of a turret, the ventilation shafts in the mech storage section (plus the unfinished storage area), and my completely overdone wire-covering.
I also have a question: I have this weird triangle section, and I have no idea what to put there:
