If you've been on the server, that's all been done already.

And that's just too bad. You wouldn't grab a bunch of steel and then combine them into a flying craft in any sci fi, would you? Editing can take place outside of spawn, those can be dismissed as simply mods to increase performance, but spawn will only sell prebuilt ships. Remember, these are a luxury now, not the entire fulcrum point of the server.

Ok, so let me get this straight.

You want to make the most important resource in the game unobtainable outside the spawn, while maintaining an even player distribution.

You're saying it doesn't make sense if people can build ships in the spawn(where there would be tools to do it), but they can take the whole thing apart and rebuild it from the ground up in the middle of nowhere.

You are running an airship server while trying to limit the number of ships to a minimum.

Am I the only one getting confused?

Will there be shuttles down to the surface you can get on the Carrier? So people without money can get down to mine stuff.

You have not logged into the server.

The entire world is ice and snow, save for randomly spawning trees everywhere logs will have to be buyable at spawn. I might add this was a suggestion presented by you to begin with, why so fickle?

They can try. Generally speaking, when I say 'mods', I mean taking a block out and replacing it with another, not dismantling the whole thing, which will likely lead to the culprit losing the ship entirely when it fails to function (just like if one randomly took apart and tried to reassemble an automobile). I don't intend to have facilities at spawn that support the modification of the ships.

Again, the theme has changed. It's not strictly an airship server anymore, emphasis is put on surviving out in the tundra and maybe buying an aerodyne to make your life easier. The server could stand on its own now without airships, they're simply a new factor in gameplay only a few decent servers have utilized so far.

I think I should elaborate.

Ideally, gameplay is going to consist of you and whatever friends you have jumping out of spawn on-foot to trek into the snow, make a faction, claim some land, and then tunnelling through a crapload of ice to get some ore. Said ore can then be transported by one of your fellows to spawn to sell and buy some new tools, or even a ship. You might get greedy and raid someone else's mine to score some extra profit...you can see where it goes from there.

You're going to have to trust me on this. It's going to be a style of gameplay that's radically different from that of vanilla Minecraft.

The ship is just going to be there for a tutorial. After that's done you go down to spawn and set out into the frozen wasteland.

I ***ked up.

Tried to generate the rest of the world but the plugin decided to use Default terrain gen, which, as you might guess, screwed up the Skylands pretty badly as well as the towns.

So the tutorial area will be the orbital spacestation?

Also, let there be some way to make your custom ship, even if it is through paying ten times the cost.

You can do whatever you want with your ship once it's out of spawn. Facilities to create custom ships take up a lot of space and are ultimately pointless as the material ships are made out of aren't obtainable on the server to begin with.

What are ships made of then? Sponge? That's the only solid block unobtainable I can think of. The mat for shipbuilding should be buyable at high prices?

Also, how much ore are we talking below the ice?
