Aircraft Carriers?
So I want to address a few topics about Aircraft Carriers
1. Did the FC development team even have plans for Aircraft Carriers (if so continue)
a. What will be requirements for an active Carrier (possibly runway blocks for a certain distance, fuel, crew?)
2. Fighters
a. Will they be piloted by human or AI (I’m thinking AI because it would take a lot of effort to find enough people)
b. How lag intensive will they be on the server
You can ask any other questions about Carriers in your replies

1)I have not heard about plans for naval vessels yet, but even adressing the topic of naval vessels will make this discussion interesting already.
1a)Concerning that the chances anyone will even think about coding naval vessels are about 10-25%, I will not even make a detailed suggestion at this point.
2a)As far as I´ve heard, you will be able to pilot fighters yourself, but also let it be done by an AI.
2b)I fear with FC, fighters will be your smallest concern lag-wise.

Well from what I know about testing my own fighters with Flans mod, is that the fighters themselves create minimal lag, what does make lag, is the world generation, which should be taken care of by fast culling.
I would like to see aircraft carriers (space carriers, not boats), however I don't think a set of requirements is necessary, if a ship can launch fighters, you can call it a carrier, if it does not have the resources to launch fighters, then it probably isn't a carrier, but if you called it a carrier, likelihood is that nobody would care
Fighters should be pilot able by humans, AI would be possible, and probably a good idea, but don't expectthe Spanish Inquisition anything like Skynet.

EDIT: that said, the only decent fighter I've modelled (A-144 Phalanx, for those who haven't read the thread) did use a sort of runway, but it was more of a launch tube.

Water displacement is hard, and I'm not interested in doing boats or submarines unless someone gives me a very good reason for them.
Carriers should be fine, and a simple swarm AI shouldn't be too much trouble if you don't mind limited control.
We will have fighters, which wil control similar to Flan's mod.
Lag shouldn't be a major issue. And if it is, we can keep dialing back on the terrain detail untl it is not.

I've oft thought of how seafaring vessels could fit into FC. It's an interesting concept.

You brought up the water concept! You asked about aircraft carriers which launch aircraft off of runway.
