About the same time as the Shine ships reached the Macaian scout, Macaian envoys and an escort made of some frigates and destroyers of the Fast Response Fleet arrived as well.
Basic information on each other was being exchanged.

The Offensive Fleet of the ME has been completed and is on standby.

Earlier today at a Macaian technology expo, Hexalan Corp revealed the UIS (Universal Input System). The UIS promises to allow a much more appealing and accessible interface between Hexalani, Macaian, and Terran systems. While the base UIS is available in an all-digital format, there is a hard-copy version which includes a software suite of programs adapted specifically to have the most efficient and sleek use using UIS. It is estimated to be publicly available outside Hexalan in just a few months.

@Dayn the point is that the UIS is an interface between different standards, e.g. Macaian and Terran network protocols.
As of now, Macaians wishing to use the Terran internet have to buy a Terran computer.

[Meta]Internal security is being tightened extensively and the entire NR command chain has been raised to "SEVERE" threat level. While the method of attack is not extraordinary, the bombing was extremely close- and nearly damaged- an installation designed to test the Fusion Coil Splicer on experimental shield technology. The few experimental ground installations scattered across NR space are either having an upgrade in security or being moved to highly secure orbital installations.

In response, the NR government is orchestrating a 'theft' of decommissioned NR ships by pirate elements, planning to deliver the ships to the rebelling systems for rebel use. Command believes the Strigiforme may simply pull out if losses become too high.

The offensive into unknown space is being cancelled due to the possibility of fighting a two front war, which would be disastrous to the NR at this early stage. Offensive readiness is still kept high, however.


Experimentation in upscaling the Jump Gate has begun, with a full-size prototype expected to be deployed between Antioch and Aquarius planned soon.
