Congratulations Ivan, your people shall prosper happily except for that .6% that are idiots or unlucky.
Those are the tourists who decide visiting Hexalan without body armor and/or working speech of Carthaic is a good idea.

Some people were blocking legislation by holding excessively long speeches because they couldn't get enough votes against legislation.
In this particular case, it was in favor of minorities, but I was like "if blocking legislation with long speeches is a thing, we won't be able to pass any legislation."
So I chose "limit speech times because in a working government the majority vote must count"

The game took it as "majority government is opressing minorities".

Nationstates is definitely influenced by a heavy America-centric influence.
This would have turned out much differently in any non-American parliament with, like, more than two parties?
Fuck the developers of the game for making a "webbrowser politics simulator" and using the situation in the US as the sole base for the issues, answers and their effects.

Well, limiting speech times is kind of sort of limiting freedom of speech which imo is pretty serious.
Same reason I decided not to outlaw * demonstrations when I played the Technotronic Dictatorship.

Well, over here we have limited speech times as well as in Germany and in both places it's considered an essential part to allow for democracy to function.
If a politician wants to hold a long, charismatic speech, he can do so outside of parliament. But in part of a parliament debate, there are rules in place to make sure that it's an actual debate, as was planned in the schedule and which is required for the democratic process of law-passing to commence, and not one long speech.

Really, from the perspective of basically anyone over here who knows how such a system actually works, that's the ONLY logical decision.
Litterally no one is complaining about freedom of speech, not even the politicians who don't get to talk, because they can still talk elsewhere, but in parliament, they're here to vote on laws, not hold long speeches.

I have ghe same thing: political speeches within Parliament are limited. But I went with that because I have preddy gud freedoms elsewhere.

Next step? Benevolent oligarchy, benevolent dictatorship, possibly scary-amoral science guise.

Meanwhile, my country is shithole.
Srsly the Technotronic Dictatorship started out with near-top stats and I never had anything drop below 70, while Vinyl somehow started this one as a shithole, which I've managed to turn into a less shitty hole.

Limitation of freedom of speech. Filthy communists.

That's why I'm essentially a dictatorship that passed as a republic. It's weird.

New in the TTR:
School uniforms are mandatory to let students spend more time learning and less time socializing.
Gypsies, Travelers, and other wastes of biological matter are often forcibly evicted by torch bearing mobs.
After a fatal accident involving hundreds with a airship many strict safety regulations have all but removed the industry.
In order to deal with large scale immigration a number of deadly obstacles and television cameras have been set up on the border, Immigration has slowed to a much more manageable level and all of them are interestingly intelligent or highly athletic. In other news the show "Who wants to be an immigrant?" has recorded record breaking ratings.
