"If we're correct, even the Nova Cannon will barely make a dent in that thing. Our best bet is to destroy the ARK stations around it to prevent it from powering up." He checked the sensor console as the ships approached the first station. "The first and second stations are unshielded. Nova blast the first and destroy the second with phasing Tachyon-Subspace warheads. The third is utilizing extreme shielding measures. We'll have to land on the surface and fight our way through."

"Land on an ARK station?" said a Hexalan commander. "Are you insane?"

"We know the layouts and the defenses. Only a small force will make it through. So send your best men."

The commander assembled a small team, a team comprised of the best soldiers he could find aboard the fleet.

"For everything, we must be willing to risk everything. If we fail here, it spells only doom for those us and those before us have fought so hard for. Do not make their sacrifices in vain, not matter what for! Today is the day we staved off an incursion by a foe far greater than us, today is the day we have won the greatest victory the people back home could ever hope to have, today is the day we make our stand, and win!"

With the defensive barrier of the NeoRomans gone, losses began to mount. Already a fleet and half's worth of ships were either nonfunctional or gone.

"We hold them as long as we can, and hope that Command sends us some kind of reinforcements."

"Sir, we're only detecting our ships and the ARKs' at the battle."
Scratchovski, standing, turned away from the window, "... Can we launch our T/S missiles from here?"
"Uh, yes sir."
"Do it. And also, get me an update on the ministation."
"Of course, sir."

"We might have a solution.", the commander of the MR forces said. "The two Mobocarriers we have here carry an entire division of robotic ground forces each. If we send those in first, they can take most of the hits in the initial landing wave, making the assault safer for the actual assault teams and they can also scout stuff, so your troops can't be surprised as easily."

Thalia Prower, the MR diplomat, stood up.
"Firstly, I will make clear that nothing I am saying here is fixed, as I will have to get the green light from our government.
Secondly, I support your search for a cure to the illness. I am going to request access to MR space for you. I also warn you of the Strigiforme, they are faschist Avians and would propably shoot you down and attempt to salvage your experimantal FTL as soon as you enter their space, regardless of any diplomacy that has happened."
Thridly, I will try to get you a small escort fleet to protect you." Looking at the other UGC representatives, she added "that escort will also make sure that further discussions will be done on even grounds with our psionic equipment, disableing the telepathic advantage of our guests. I do believe most of us will at least feel safer when confronted with someone who can not read their mind."
She looked back at Suul: "Lastly, please explain how the illness spread over interstellar distances within just a few decades on sublight speeds. Except if the bacteria also evolved biological FTL, it seems quite weird."

The MR has dispatched the secong half of the heavy fleet to Draco, currently stationing them at the Draco-side Gatekeeper. The Draco colonies have been ordered to keep silent and reduce activity, hoping to be put low on the priorities of the Draco ARK-force, giving the UGC more time to drive back the ARK forces.

Jahgrin quickly brought up a subsurface map of the third ARK. "We'll be fighting in very, very close quarters. Some of these corridors are only a meter or two wide. The robotic armies wouldn't stand a chance, though they might be able to distract the surface forces long enough to slip by our assault team." Jahgrin placed his right hand on the console, and the receptacle began to glow. Threads of light began dancing up his arm, converting into solid, dark metal, overlayed by a blue hexagonal web. The threads spread, and then converted to the same metal, before his entire body was enveloped in it. A fully-functional powersuit, with blue power lines arcing through it. His head was left uncovered.

"Sir, the T-S warheads are ready," his adviser said.

"Fire on my mark." He was waiting for a break in the defense forces. A small gap opened up after a Singularity Beam volley. "Fire."

And over 200 Tachyon-Subspace missiles were away.

Hexalan and Zuguth have petitioned to join the UGC and have received the MR's support already.

Large groups of Strigiforme naval assets have begun to form over Cuuyth under direct order of Leader. No reason was given.

The Strigiforme ask the Novans, AUF, and Hexalani to cease their warmongering actions outside of AUF borders within the current distance to Strigiforme space.

As the Tachyon-Subspace missiles launched, a large, glowing red beam formed; tracing a line between the Trafalgar and the first ARK station, the capital ship poured several petawatts per second of energy into the enemy station.

The Strigiforme Council has released a formal statement iterating that tere is no ARK threat, and that this engagement is a proposed casus belli for the Novans to invade the Strigiforme.

The Novan government has invited the Strigiforme to bring a fleet to [ARK Jump gate coordinates] to see the threat for themselves, if they so desire. The Commonwealth has no designs on the Strigiforme Empire.

The MR points out to the other participants that the Strigiforme have already used "neglect of evidence" in order to justify their war against Hexalan and that it is possible they may do so again.
Towards the Strigiforme, the MR states that even if the ARK-threat was fake, there is no way for the current situation to be used as a casus belli against the Strigiforme unless the Strigiforme attack the battleing factions, and suggests the Strigiforme do not do so in order to prevent an escalation from happening. The MR also points out the heavy losses among the fighting forces, which will leave the militaries of the galaxy in no shape capable of successfully invading Strigiforme space.

On the third ARK, the two mobocarriers landed after throwing their payload at the other two ARKs and each set down over ten thousand infantry robots, which began to swarm the corridors of the ARK. While they stood no chance against the much more sophisticated and advanced units defending the ARKs, they were able to create a save landing zone for the other faction's troops, slow down the ARK counter-attack enough for them to land and get into position and create a rough map of the surrounding areas, giving the other troops a decent idea on which way to take in order to get deeper.

[meta]The Mobocarriers present at Draco have been ordered to evacuate the MR colonies. For this, the robotic infantry stored in them will be left on the colonies and will there, together with the other robots present, keep maintaining the colony in case it was to survive the oncoming threat. (OOC: The MR does not yet knwo the ARK fleet attacking Draco is actually pretty crap, they think they are faced with 9k ships just as powerful as the forces at the D-ARK/Strigiforme Border Jumpgate. Also ARKs are technically giant, armored shipyards, so they can always produce more.)
The Mobocarriers then retreat into a Milky-War military system, where they will temporarily drop off the people evacuated until a better place for them to live is found, and then join the forces at the Gatekeeper-Starbase.[/meta]

The QIs aboard the Novan fleet have begun cautious cyberwarfare and electronic warfare attacks against the ARK systems. The Trafalgar and Pegasus have both launched dropships and fighter cover towards the landing zones set out by the NeoRomans; the Phantom Fleet has grouped up around the NeoRomans to serve as a defensive screen.
