The console's readouts, now legible told a very odd tale indeed.
Several boxes of text were attached to lines emanating from the dot, representing the ship. Among them were, "UMFSV Shattered light at the breaking of dawn.", "!WARNING!: SEVERE HULL DAMAGE - LOSS ESTIMATE: 80%", "!WARNING!: EMERGENCY SHIELDING IN PLACE - BULKHEADS REQUIRED - SHIELD POWER REMAINING: 30 DAYS", "!WARNING!: CORE CONTROL MISSING - LOCATION: UNKNOWN", and, perhaps the most worrisome of all, "!ERROR!: FILE NOT FOUND"
On line was a singe box listing various statistics, although a quick glance would affirm that it presented no new information.
The destination galaxy's was one most odd and unexpected, especially considering its appearance, had a lone box on it.
"MILKY WAY GALAXY
-CURRENT DESTINATION-
-ELAPSED TIME FROM DEPARTURE: nAn;9999999999999-
-!NOTICE!: HOSTILE FORCES DETECTED-
-!NOTICE!: UMFSV Shattered light at the breaking of dawn. DETECTED-"

"UMFSV? That designation is not in my database." Pointedly glaring at JAG's slot, she sent him the relevant data of possible owner/operators of their (newly acquired) vessel.

SuperOOC: UMFSV stands for United Militant Factions' Space Vessel.

"The various warning flashing at us seem important. JAG, assuming you're in the ship's systems, what shape is it in, can we utilize it, or barring that, are there escape craft?" asked Val, as Laura's avatar continued to glare in JAG's direction.

((As Fen is not on as often as us, I'll do some temporary control here and there to keep it moving.))
"The ship, among many things, is lacking its primary engines, however, I've located a few auxiliary engines that should be able to alter our course enough."

"I'd suggest we make the alterations ASAP and begin decelerations. Time isn't on our side for the moment." commented Laura, projecting a course plot and estimated time to impact or destruction.

"I would have done so already, if firing the engines wouldn't immediately drain our reserve power. From what I can tell, our only source of more is solar. We'd have to wait to fire them until we get close enough to our doom."
Hexalan spoke up, "Unless anyone wants to come with me, I'm off to find that Tajer bastard."

Bossy looked at Hexalan.
"I'm the only one around here who's in the UGC, so I should go look for Tajer with you. From what I know, they don't really like you and diplomacy would be... preferable in this situation."

"I have minimal control from here, and the solar panels are currently not properly aligned to be of any use. I'll need direct access to the auxiliary energy core to change their orientation, which means going through a corridor completely exposed to extreme solar radiation."
"Is there another path?" Val asked.
"The only other path goes through the Quarantine chamber, and trust me, you do not want to go in there. Pick me up." With that, the panel slid open and JAG ejected from the slot, plopping onto the floor. The slot closed.

Not to Bossy's knowledge, Hexalan looked the whatever over for a moment, and issued a "Fine." Under her breath, she added, "damn alliances..." And the two left for the other whatever.
OOC: If you hadn't noticed, Hexalan can be a bit racist at times. Although, it's mostly because the enemies I pick are more often than not nonhumans.

Re: Futurecraft: Macropolitical Personification Iteration #3
OOC: so the only way to save the ship currently requires someone with a spacesuit, and the only person currently with a spacesuit is... This guy right 'ere.
-------
John wandered down the hallway looking in rooms, so far most of them seemed to be crew quarters. 'Room, room, room, room, roo- ooh its locked' Judging the locked door sternly he decided the best method of entry was to break it. Using the butt of his rifle to smash the key panel cover off, with a few stern hits the now slightly smashed cover fell loose, grabbing it and using his exosuits strength he pried off the panel revealing a number of colored wires below. Picking up one wire which looked like power he began touching wires till a loud clank could be heard from the door, grinning he grabbed the door and attempted to pull it open, succeeding slightly before the motors wined and pushed against him. "Stupid door, why won't you open" resorting. To ancient door unlocking techniques he took out his rifle and fire a bunch of energy bursts into the electrical panel till it was throughly unlocked. Now attempting to open the door again he was rewarded with it not shutting and catching a glimpse of what's inside 'Looks like a kitchen, meh better then drab rooms' continuing to push the door open which was now mysteriously a lot squeakier and slower.

Re: Futurecraft: Macropolitical Personification Iteration #3
OOC: While Hexalan's suit can be pressurized, and is rated for spaece, it currently lacks the oxygen tank attachment, meaning she would soon asphyxiate. I also doubt there will be any compatible tanks, so it's more or less so far off the table, it's circled the Earth and landed just off the other side of the table.
After walking a bit, Hexalan faced Bossy. "I know you aren't particular friends with the Tajer, especially considering his... type, so why did you bother coming along?"

Re: Futurecraft: Macropolitical Personification Iteration #3
JAG directly sent a message to Hexalan through his sensor system. "Situation update," he started.
"How did you get into my suit?" Hexalan asked.
"I listened to its processor." A moment of silence. "Irregardless. I have detected a very strong power surge approximately 70 meters from your location. The surge has damaged the second auxiliary gravity generator and the first one is already running on fumes. I'm assuming that this is the work of our Tajer friend, in which case, can you stop him before he breaks the entire ship? I've marked the surge location on your map."
"Map?"
"The map I installed. You should be able to access it."

You're the one who shot up a control panel and fricked with the wiring. Also, Tajer was of helped make, is partially your fault therefore.Shadowcat wrote:The electrical engineers for this ship must've been fucking retards.
