Not exactly mate, their argument was that calling both plants "pepper" is not abnormal, and yes it does happen in many other languages, for example Hebrew, both are called "Pilpel" with the chili being called "Pilpel Harif" (Spicy pepper).

"Chili pepper" is a term for a spicy pepper.

And yes, the wossname in the picture is a pepper.
