Iv, not all AA needs radar; in fact, probably more than half are SACLOS(Semi-Autonomous Command Line Of Sight), Infrared, MCLOS(Manual Command Line of Sight), or auto cannon flak. While none of these can shoot down artillery shells, some of these can shoot down low-flying subsonic missiles.

Well what it lacks is a good radar similar to the one on the the Iron Dome but it does deal with cruising missiles alright, its not effective as a weapon though.

I'd say a good air defense should be made of an assortment of various systems that cover each other's weaknesses.

Modern bombers aren't as fun. It's all about stealth these days. They don't have loads of machine gun turrets sticking out of all sides. :l

they started limiting the turrets to tail turrets when switching to jet-powered bombers for a reason: it's unaerodynamic.
Not to mention that with missiles becoming more and more advanced, machine guns no longer were a viable defense against fighters.
they may look cool, but in reality those machine guns won't do a thing. Gun dakka is only effective against ground targets nowadays unfortunately, or as a backup plan for fighters if for some reason missiles don't work. And I highly doubt this will have any chance of changing unless they can get lasers on fighters and bombers that allow them to intercept missiles heading for them or if energy shields become a thing.

Odds are, it'll become a race of AA vs. ECM. Or moar stealth.

'Cause More Dakka only applies wheny our enemy isn't being a * and using self-guided weapons, OR you have a few thousand bombers available.

The thing about ECM is that there are missiles it simply doesn't affect, like wire-riding SACLOS missiles, which have a tiny wire from the launcher to the missile and are impossible to hack. Or bullet; I have yet to meet man who can outsmart bullet.
