Removed cargo space spec requirement because it's impossible to measure accurately; instead, stuff will be decided by your ship and such.

And as such; nope. None of the cargo ships we have currently are "cargo" ships, more like couriers or something. Unless you're mounting the cargo containers outside the vessel, they aren't freighter ships. Way too small. For comparison, this is about the size of Error's cargo hold;
Spoiler:
Image
This is 40 cubic meters, about.

Daynel's ship is about 80 of these.

Vinyl's ship is about 58 of these.

CvN's ship is about 102 of these.

For extra comparison, our container ships today are 300 meters long or bigger. The largest ship is just under 400 meters long, and carries 15,000 of these containers.

So unless you're not transporting a lot of stuff (or transport stuff on the outside) then these aren't freighter ships.

No, shadowcat, you cannot be a cube/sphere. I'll explain why.

Ships are generally long and thin for a reason; how much surface area you present to the enemy compared to how much firepower you can bring to bear. A thin profile allows a maximal ration of this; you can shoot most of your stuff at them while providing a small target to shoot at.

A cube or sphere? Sure, it may be the best shape for space, but no matter what side you're shooting from, half your firepower is unusable and you always provide the same target. It's also ugly as all hell, so no.

Name: Keith Kummel

Ship Name: Orion X-5

Ship Description: Omni-Class Multirole Industrial Ship (Refitted for mining)
Length/Width/Height: 101; 39, 34
General Shape: Very blocky and bulky, equipped with manipulators
Maximum Crew: 42
Armor Thickness and Material: 1200mm Titanium, and reactive armor plates
Number of decks: 12
Manufacturer: Goliath Dockyards
Weapons: Lasers in the manipulators, used for cutting asteroids. However, they can also serve offensively.
Spoiler:
Image

Occupation: Independent miner.

Allegiance: He's officially in the ER, but he doesn't care much

Personality: Friendly and open, sometimes a bit cocky.

Backstory: Keith wanted to get away from the earth since he was a little child. He inherited the modular Omni-Class form his father who died very early. Keith visited many places in the solar system, but in the end he settled in orbit around Pluto, where he began mining in the Kuiper belt. He wasn't very fortunate at first, but then he found a large seam of liquid He-3. He sold it to traders, who made a good amount of profit, compared to other He-3 suppliers. Soon Keith was able to build up his own little company called: He-Kuiper. His ship slowly expanded and after a few years he had a fully upgraded Omni-Class. Nowadays, he's leading a small fleet of three ships, which are still mining the precious liquid He-3 in the Kuiper belt.

Overview: He is housing some scientists at the moment, who want to take a few liquid He-3 probes from the outer parts of the Kuiper belt, who want to test, if He-3 particles, which are enriched with interstellar radiation, can be refined to stable He-5 isotopes, which deliver even more power than He-3 isotopes.

Perfect for the minor shipments Linnaeus has to do. It's only unarmed because of how tiny it is - Vipars are on par with corvettes.

Ship name: Frozen Light

Image

Dimensions (L/H/W): 500/200/150
Cargo 'area' (front end): 400/200/150 = ~12,000,000 Cubic Meters (Maybe more like 11.5mil) or 300,000 40cubicM cargo containers

Equipment: Standard thermal/EM/Spacedar equipment required for vessels, Large shield array to repel smaller asteroids and space radiation.
Ship Description: Arguably a large metal box welded to a big engine the Light is a large end space hauler, it features 12 massive doors with 6 on each side that form 4 large doors that span the entire length of the bay allowing it to load anything from raw ores to smaller vessels. Along the cargo bay internals are many catwalks designed for gravity and no gravity operations and two long pressurized hallways span the internal cargo bay top with airlocks along it and access to the front turret. The interals of the rear section are mostly fuel tanks and equipment surrounded by catwalks to allow engineers to maintain the system, There is a nice crew area outfitted with small individual rooms, a galley, and entertainment area, and the bridge. The whole crew area sits inside a rotating drum for artificial gravity generation. The light has a blue paint scheme with grey doors and grey accents.

Occupation: Trader

Allegiance:UAD

Personality: Friendly hardworking guy who doesn't mind stopping to help a guy in need out.

Backstory: Born, raised, and lived on a cargo ship his whole life. His father started Polikarp transportation with the dream of a trading empire and managed to build it up to the Frozen Light around the time of his death, At which Tajer gained ownership of the company and wishes to continue in his fathers path. He grew up with much of the ships current crew and a number of them are second generation crew like himself. He has a deep attachment to most of the crew and cares for them like family.

Lets go through it;

Lightspeed, you haven't fixed your issues.

Daynel is accepted. Your small ship works well for your occupation, then. Will add Camara L76 to the Duraship page.

Middie, I still think your ship is still a bit heavily armed, but that's just me. Railguns are pretty big, so if you tone down the weapons a bit you're good.

Vinyl accepted, though you're not carrying a lot of stuff in that ship. Will add the Vipar to the Hex page.

CvN, railguns are pretty big and 8 is comparable to warship. I can add you, but you'll only have 4 railguns if that's ok. Remember; there are no shields.

Julo, you cannot 15 decks into 34 meters, including armor and the stuff between floors. I think 13 or 12 would do. Also, your ship is a bit small for asteroid mining?

Don't see any problems with yours shadow. Accepted. That's what I call a cargo ship!
