I thought the Novans specialty with cloning was that they could clone thoughts and memory with the clones to whereas everyone else would have to invent some sideways method like implants to get the same effect.Daynel wrote:So we agree on that, then? Cloning vats aren't novans-only since this is 800 years in the future, but the novans are the best at it.

That I think is fine; Novans can do a EvE-like conciousness and memory transfer, everyone else gets the embryo-insert or brainless shell method, save the Imperium.
Bear in mind copying a conciousness (instead of a transfer) causes degredation.

The wormhole gates are finished and fully operative.
Construction of the 8th Fleet has finished.
Construction of a series of colonization, construction, and mining ships has finished, and the new ships, as well as a third of the old ones, have been sent to the newly accessible galaxy to prepare for colonization. A series of science ships have also been sent, to study and map the galaxy.

Re: Where we Left Off[RP THREADNOUGHT]
Am confirming what Error said. Everyone has the embryo-stuff and cloning vats. Embryo ones require an accelerated life cycle, while the cloning vats start them matured, BUT they know nothing at all. Literally. They have to be taught everything (I.E eating, walking, etc.) Error's cloning stuff is the only technology that can make a true clone, I.E embedded with proper knowledge and experiences of the cloned person.

"Have we accomplished what I've asked?" Randall was standing next to a control panel, overlooking a lab control room. Ahead of him were nearly 20 stasis tanks, each holding the most powerful psionics in the APAP program. Two of his guards were behind him, ensuring his safety.
"Almost sir," responded the scientist. "We have been able to seamlessly transfer psionic potential between persons through use of the Psi nanobots, but-"
"But what?"
"The process is highly unstable and dangerous. Persons not gifted with psionic potential in the first place will die within an hour of gaining it. And potential is permanently lost from the person it originated from."
"That is not my concern. I asked you to be able to increase the power of an already powerful psionic."
"We have been able to do that, yes. But we don't know the consequences of such-"
"Consequences? Surely you must be joking."
"With all due respect, transferring so much power into one individual is never going to go well."
"Why?"
"We're noticing a very significant corrupting effect upon transferring psionic power. A marked increase in negative tendencies such as aggression and greed combined with a decrease in compassion and empathy. We don't-"
"Is there a limit?"
"A limit? What?"
"Is there a limit to how much power we can transfer?
"Randall please! You don't know what you're toying with here!" Randall whirled at the researcher and grabbed him by the neck, slamming him into the wall. Power slightly crackled from his hands; he too was a psionic. His guards looked over and tightened their grip on their weapons.
"I asked you a question. Now, are you going to answer me, or am I going to find out for myself?" He loosened his grip slightly as the scientist struggled for breath.
"n... no," he stammered. Randall released him and moved back in front of the observation window. His lead scientist collapsed on the ground and slowly got up, coughing.
"Good. I want you to charge all 20 of these with as much psionic power as we have on staff. Outfitted with the usual equipment; amplifiers, capacitors, everything. The top equipment we have."
"I won't do it," the lead scientist said as he stood up. "I refuse to endanger our-" Randall unsheathed his pistol and shot the scientist, knocking him to the floor as the plasma bolt ate through his chest. He stood over him coldly as he sheathed the pistol again.
"Then I will find someone who will. I will not tolerate insubordination" He turned to his guards. "Clean this up," he ordered. His first guard picked up the corpse of the scientist, slung it over his shoulder, and left the room. He turned to the second guard. "Call in the former lead scientist's assistant."
"I'm already here," replied the assistant, walking through the door. "I assume you need me to take over?"
"Indeed. Our former scientist refused to follow my orders, afraid that our friends could get out of control. He forgot that we have control software, aggression inhibitors, emotional dampening. We can control them. And we will have them for ourselves."

Re: Where we Left Off[RP THREADNOUGHT]
"So, this is it then? Our first and probably last sensor ping?"
"Uh-huh."
"What I never understood was why we don't just use visual..."
"Because unless you're an ace pilot and can predict Strigiforme movements, you'd hit or be hit by the massive defensive fleet they've more than likely got circling the thing."
"How long will we be a sitting duck after the ping?"
"About 70 seconds."
"And how long will it take to get the engines back up?"
"... 20 seconds. Why?"
The trooper only gave the pilot a look of sheer cockiness as the cloak and all other systems, save life support, went dark and the ping was sent out.
((The sensor ping acts like a bat's echolocation, but instead of the waves bouncing and returning to the source, upon collision with matter the energy dissipates into subspace, giving an abnormally high energy reading, creating a light show of sorts.))

//encrypted message to AUF//
We don't know what you're doing, but you are obviously producing enough psionic flux to have it picked up by our long-range sensors.
We ask you to stop whatever project it is that produces this power, as it is approaching dangerous levels.
We expect a rapid increase of psychosomatic patients within 20 hours, a statistically notable increase in cases of violent crime within 3 days and the first deaths due to acute flux syndrome within a week, with the first effects reaching other factions within 5 days, given the current rate of power growth.
We also believe the Ryytil will notice the phenomenon shortly, if they have not already.
Finally, we would like to note that the AUF will be held responsible for any problems caused by your psionic flux if it reaches the MR (projected in three weeks).
In the event that you do not have control of the source of the psionic flux (coordinates attached), we would offer you a psionic cleanup team to deal with the issue.

Re: Where we Left Off[RP THREADNOUGHT]
I think this is my thing, but with a ship dumped at the edge of Strig space without FTL, they aren't going to get much. Strigiforme Empire is large, and the Stauros is way deep.
Stauros Command Area
"Commander, we are beginning to reach critical buildup levels."
"Alright. The next resupply convoy should be here shortly. Drop the aft shield first."
The massive glowing crimson spheroid became half a spheroid, with invisible radiation particles streaming out one end in a direction away from the rest of the galaxy. The rest of the shield dropped, and the Stauros became visible. A large fleet of ships began approaching, the resource convoy. For security reasons, the convoy would leave their date there, in a special casing that could only be opened with the low levels of ambient Stauros energy in the Stauros itself. The box contained the next resupply time, at which the Stauros would drop its shields to accept fresh food, water, Yttrium, and repairs. The resupply fleet quickly went over the hull, patching damage and replacing hull plates. The rest would be accomplished by crews in heavily shielded suits, who would repair damage in the area surrounding the core.
The resupply fleet departed, and the shield went back up. The fleet was then taken to a special military depot, to be checked out medically, then held in isolation until the next trip.

Re: Where we Left Off[RP THREADNOUGHT]
Production of the 2 fleets has resumed [meta]and won't stop[/meta].
OOC: The ship has a very low mass and a very powerful engine, and due to its original purpose can handle extreme stress, but its modifactions have also made it like wet piece of 1 ply toilet paper. It also probably managed to hitch a few rides on FTL-capable ships.
