Lost my Kindle so I haven't read anything in months. However I do have two primitive hard-copy books sitting on my bookshelf that I may start reading. "The War in 2020" about WWIII between the US and Russia. (Written during the Cold War) and "Thunder of Erebus" about a joint US Russian Antarctic expedition that turns violent when both sides want possession of what the description simply calls a strange artifact. (Also written during the Cold War). My Dad tells me they're great...

"The dirty red commie rooskie stretched out his hand to grab the artifact, which would allow Mother Russia to gain control over the whole world. Our hero, the great and patriotic American, pulled out his .70 cal revolver, and shot the damn commie's arm clean off. 'Not today, you son of a *' he said, 'this artifact is going back to America!'"

I'm 90% sure that's how the last one ends, so now you don't have to read that one. You're welcome.

I agree with prototype; read The Dark Tower. It's a 7 book series. Excellent series.

In fact, I recommend everything Stephen King. Whether it be The Stand, IT, Pet Semetary, or others. They're all good.

Stephen King is pretty muvh the patron saint of psych-horror, yeah.

And while it has its Moments, I still reccommend Ender's Game.

And Discworld, Discworld, Discworld. All 30+ books of it. Read them.

I have to agree with Error here. Terry Pratchett is a great author and the Discworld books are amazing. I wish I had more of them...

Well, maybe if you're a communist rooskie it does. Americans are made of tougher stuff, son, and the gentleman in this story here was a prime example of one!

The rest of the Ender's game series is pretty good, but very different.
I'd recommend reading Ender's shadow and the shadow saga alongside it.

I'm reading a book about a boy born on the western slops of the Siberian mountains(actually Arkansas), who within the first year of his life wins a few tons of beer, sees his father accidentally kill his mother, and is forced to grow pot at a daycare. It's a college Calculus textbook.
