Re: Where we Left Off[RP THREADNOUGHT]
The Strigiforme fleet, being trained and having practice with their own weapons systems and controls, have the far upper hand. While the Novan gunnery and engineering personnel are trained to use their equipment without computer assistance(assumption), the lack of practice made them shoddy. Their shots mostly missed, while the Strigiforme fired volley after volley of high speed missiles, each doing massive damage to the ship or its' shields due to the lack of CIWS. Under cover from other ships, a few of the many marine carrier ships dropped to the planet, deploying their payload mid-air, were they could fly down to the emplacements. Meanwhile, the majority of the fleet is moving towards the other edge of the system, pushing to go deeper into Novan space past their initial defensive lines.

Fleet production is stoping for a bit. The over-stress on the shipyards is not advisable.
Ships produced in the last batch.
OOC: we use quantum computing to sensors, but our ship crews are trained to be efficient on "manual control" [Lots of Battlestar galactica] . Other than that, they are equipped with semi-Ai chips,Cybran style

Yes error, quantum computing would solve many problems much faster. BUT, it's main utility is that it doesn't take as much space as regular silicon computing. It still has to calculate but it's not instant.

I forgot to mention that it is infact confirmed that ACH built a laser shooting space *.

The Zuguthian Empire has both quantum computing and more or less true AI.
And Error, you need to stop being so AI-phobic. I have an empire full of AI androids that are basically used as slaves, or factory machines, and the only uprisings/riots/whatever have been from uneducated activists. You know why? Because we've programmed the AIs to love doing what we tell them to do.

He did.
ACH, you seem to fail to read my descriptions; quality over quantity extends to everyone in the Novan military, so their shots mostly hit, but nobody has punched through shields/armour yet.
Gonna have to retcon, you don't read at all. Your missiles barrages would be some of your least effective weapons (even Novan frigates carry flak and point defense, so they'd cut missiles out of the sky, even on manual).
BIC.
Detecting Strigiforme transports, the AA systems began firing, throwing lasers into the sky. As the troops dropped, the Novan forces donned their masks (no civvies left there) and deployed their nerve-gas canisters.
Over the planet, jump-flashed appeared as Aurelia Eterna, followed by Pegasus and several destroyers and cruisers, entered the system. The battlecarrier's AI, unaffected by the Stauros' previous shot, linked to the majority ofmthe fleet's ships and took over point-defense duty; the newcomers opened fire, addingntheir weight of fire to that already present. Mowt of the fleet began moving towards the main Strigiforme fleet, targeting smaller vessels.

"Lieutenant, report." called Gaeta.
"Legaan is dead, sir. We've three frigates closing on our position, and two destroyers further back. Artemis is taking hits, but she's still shooting... I read two destroyers, one frigtae, and one of our cruisers crippled, a bunch more damaged but active."
"Weapons? Shields?" the commander called over the smoky bridge.
"Nada. Engines working, mostly. PD is half-assed, but online... jump drive down, but I have missiles active. Dumbfire only."
"Align us to that big bastard," the commander indicated a Strigiforme battleship, "and run engines to full power. Sound evac alarms."
- - -
The crippled destroyer Damocles turned, facing the battleship. Escape shuttles ejected from the destroyer, jumping out; the crippled and blazing starship activated her engines, pulling 45 gravities acceleration and sprinting directly at the massive enemy starship.
The fleet continued to group together, concentrating fire on a few targets at a time: the Aurelian vessel demonstrated her fusion lances on a nearby frigate as Pegasus moved to head the main fleet.
OOC @Dayn I have true AIs on every naval ship in my fleet (or did), and use them in most cities. Hardly AI phobic.

Re: Where we Left Off[RP THREADNOUGHT]
Error, you can't flak the missiles because they are going too fast for a human eye to follow. I'm sure you can use the CIWS on manual, but it is humanly impossible to get a solid hit on the missiles. As for the new ships, the system is still affected by the Stauros energy; their AI are being severely damaged. Additionally, ground flak is on manual, but then again, the troopships are going fairly slow. Also, your reactors are having to be run on manual control; I don't know if you know how that works, but it means you are having to have a guy do a lot of complicated things, which has reduced energy output on your ships.

Re: Where we Left Off[RP THREADNOUGHT]
Counterpoint:
Flak is operated by (simple) computers, that literally only compute "which way does the gun need to point to hit X area of space", and filling said area with hundreds of thousands of metal shards tends to work nicely.
The new ships are unaffected, because the Stauros energy would be mostly dissipated, plus battlecarriers have considerably more hardening and shielding against that (the AI core in better-defended than the CIC), so the smaller ones are on normal computers, the Pegasus on AI.
Reactors all have heavily-shielded backup systems that auto-regulate (plus, fusion reactors are actually pretty safe). If you don't have 3x redundancy, you're doing it wrong, m8.
While I get you're winning and have uber-owl-jackbooted-technology, this isn't a complete and total curbstomp battle. Remember Novan ships are all 5x more expensive than their foreign equivalents due to their massively overengineered and redundant designs (and they didn't manage tricentennial lifespans by being tissue-paper).
- - -
Several destroyers, struck by weapons fire, fell silent, guns going dark. As the flak cruisers moved to cover them, Pegasus opened fire with her spinal-mount weapons, covering the fleet's regrouping.
Over Terra, a diplomatic cruiser arrived, scanning space for the other GSI and SDI diplomats.

Can I suggest less argument about capability and how OP the Strigiforme laser-firing-space-* is and more RP combat?

Re: Where we Left Off[RP THREADNOUGHT]
Oh, the Stauros has it's drawbacks. This is meta, btw. It can't fire unless there is a Strigiforme super shield to hit; otherwise, it just keeps going. It also has a fairly long cooldown time. Additionally, it is immobile, though it has significant defences built in.

"Significant defenses built in"
You're Strigiforme, that goes without saying. Also, are you diplomatting or ignoring the fact that you're sending one (unless I misread)?
