If these dingdongs in the US goverment got off their ass and started doing some fucking shit, America could be completely green.
Theres bigass windfarms down the highway, solar panels are becoming cheap as dirt, and there are superconductor lines in New York. Why the fuck are we paying for electricity?

Actually we could've had free electricity since the late 1800s, if I am not mistaken.
So the answer is that the corporations that run the US wouldn't earn anything on free electricity, and that anyone who wants the government to pay for your electricity using your tax money is a dirty commie bastard.

In other words, I can't wait 'til we Scandinavians get free power!

But capitalism does give a shit about existing. Power companies, especially the ones specializing in non-renewable energy sources, do not want to give up on their ca$h.
