Re: Where we Left Off
[META] All NeoRoman hardware and internal construction has been torn out of the Aurora, leaving only the superstructure. This hardware is being recycled into new parts and equipment. In addition to the substantial tech upgrade, the former Aurora will receive a size as well as strength boost, using the latest in dimensional-shielding technology as well as fielding nearly three times the original firepower to the original Aurora due to the spinal-mounted PPC.
-Eternal President Randall's Mansion-
"So we have absolutely no idea what's going on?" he asked the scientist on the screen in front of him.
"No. We have been... unable to interface with the probe," replied the artifact researcher.
"Unable?"
"Every time we accessed it it downloaded a powerful computer virus to our system and scrambled the entire system."
"And this ISN'T somehow a security risk?"
"By system, I meant the connecting computer. It's completely isolated from the rest of the system."
"Ok. Now how is this a threat?"
"We believe this is connected to the NeoRoman message about the ARKs."
"Alright then. I'll see you off." He pressed a button and the face disappeared from the wall. After a few seconds, a button on his desk blinked and Barial appeared where the scientist had just been. Randall poured some wine from the antique bottle next to him. It was 2000 year old wine, according to the stasis chamber. And it was heavenly.
"Sir?" Barial asked.
"Don't mind me," Randall said, taking a sip of the wine. "Please, deliver the report."
"With pleasure. We managed to get a subsurface scan of Manufactorum Primaris."
"And how did we accomplish this?"
"We hijacked the sensor feed on a passing ship. They didn't notice anything. For all they know, it was passively gathering data." Randall opened a drawer in the desk and brought out a data pad. He pressed a few buttons, typed in a few commands, and the subsurface scan of Primaris brought itself up.
"What am I looking at, exactly?" Randall asked.
"Primaris appears to be a massive industrial complex. And, evidently, the planet is hollow."
"Then what's this... sphere like thing in the middle?"
"We don't know, but we have speculations." Barial looked away for a second before returning. "The material construction and patterns match ARK stations."
"Are you shitting me?" Randall abruptly stood up, knocking over the now-empty wineglass. It rolled off the desk and fell onto the floor. "They're building a fucking ARK station?"
"It appears so." Randall sighed and slapped his hand on his face. He dragged it off.
"Why?"
"I don't know."
"They do realize there are cheaper and more effective things to build, do they not? Especially considering this isn't even close to the size of most ARK stations we know of."
"Maybe. It's likely that it's a manner of curiosity."
"Are there other manufactorums?" Randall asked.
"Based on the size of this, there's at least 13 more if they're going for a complete set in one go."
"Continue monitoring. Be cautious. I'm out." He shut the channel off. Randall picked up the glass on the floor and set it on the desk before filling it again. He twirled the long end of his mustache. It was recent, and lavish. He thought for a bit. A hollow planet? Why didn't he think of that?
//AUF News//
Randall has announced the planet Auraxis IV will be completely mined down, stripped, and hollowed, before being converted into a massive planet-sized shipyard. Auraxis IV is in the AUF capital system, and due to it's lack of useful materials in the crust, is not very inhabited. The low gravity of the planet is ideal for a planet-sized shipyard, and construction will begin by the end of this month.

Re: Where we Left Off
"Have you heard? The AUF are hollowing out one of their planets for a shipyard of sorts."
"Yes, and it strikes me as odd."
"How so?"
"Think about it, why? Surely it'd be easier to build a shipyard than to excavate a planet? I'd like to think they didn't somehow get the idea from our latest undertaking, we've tried to keep it under tight enough wraps, but with the sheer traffic of industry and our inability to simply drop off the map at this point, our only real options are to either come out or stop altogether, but I'm having my doubts. Not like it'd be a waste or anything to halt, it's putting a serious drain on our resources and personnel, which is why I'm starting to think that we'd be better off reallocating the efforts to, if I may propose, fleet building."
"... I understand, do what you must, I'll try and push for boosting navy recruitment, I mean, what good is a ship without a crew?"
He nodded, stood, and left the cabin's office. He would be taking the diplomatic frigate he arrived in, what with all the meetings he must attend as both an admiral and ambassador.
---
A group of technicians were observing a set of monitors, when an urgent message was received by the lead.
"Alright boys, seems we've just got our funds slashed. I need a two hemisphere max yield by yesterday!"
META: Total deconstruction of 12 hemispheres (the last two will be on Primaris) and reallocation of funding and materials will take a week uninterrupted. Construction of the one mini-ARK has been accelerated duly as the taskforce has not been split up, allowing work to be more focused, it should be done by next year at current rates as from the sum materials slated for the 7, the needed for a full 1 (~25% of the total collected) has been set aside just for it. Ship construction will start immediately with the resources from the project being injected as they are made available. A total of 200 new ships should be on the production lines within the month, the matter of personnel being the only possible setback for operation.

The Strigiforme construct is complete. It has yet to move, and its purpose is unknown.
Large contingents of Strigiforme forces are being shifted towards the Strigiforme-Novan border, and into Serpentis and the Strigiforme-MQR border. Additionally, SDI vessels are also being moved with the Strigiforme forces, including Ryytils psionic support vessels. Strigiforme and SDI command describe these as training maneuvers, and nothing to be alarmed about.

A number of Novan ships, including Distant Memory and her sister vessel, have been moved tk the border nearest the Strigiforme; planetary defenses are on alert and the MQR jas been warned of the Strigiforme activity.
Despite having only one complete hangar bay and still lacking some of its computers, Artemis has been deployed alongside Valereia in the Hahnsak system.

-- ZBC News --
Scientists to create "human friendly" colony
A team of TechTron scientists have announced plans to make a colony from scratch, with the utmost safety and comfort of its residents in mind.
According to the leading scientist of the team, the plan is to "first find a lifeless goddamn rock and start terraforming it or at least an area of it, giving it artificial gravity, vegetation, water sources, maybe even geothermal energy. The populated area will not be crowded like a city, not empty like a village, it will include the best of both. The colony will have only the best science can give it, from special shields to let ships in and out but keep asteroids and radiation out and the air in, to android servants, to goddamn genetically engineered bugs to keep the flora living without annoying or harming the residents".
The project has received a good deal of criticism from people who claim that these scientists are playing god, but in the scientific community, the project is welcomed with open arms.
"This is a great step forward," claims Dr. Martin Klein. "It's not just terraforming, this is something new. We're not just convincing a place to let us live there, we're actually forcing it into submission, making it accept our terms and conditions, making it exactly what we want, going as far as making new lifeforms just so we can be as comfortable as possible. Of course, this is new technology, which is why it's only being done to a small area, and why it's focused on the comfort of humans only. But just imagine what we will have in a hundred years, or even fifty."
And what Dr. Klein says is true: the colony will only be open to humans. "We have to be a little speciesist," says the lead scientist, "even though we would prefer to have it open for everyone". The colony will be careful about who will be let inside even amongst humans, to make sure all the residents will be comfortable with each other. That is, after all, the whole point of the place.

Re: Where we Left Off
Nooooo just moving through
The Strigiforme government has issued the order to all Strigiforme shipyards to begin producing military ships at the fastest rate possible without breaking. The shipyards will likely turn out a frigate every 3 months, or a cruiser every 5, with the Strigiforme using their large resource stockpiles to fuel this. The Strigiforme have also begun digging superhardened bunkers on many border worlds, along with bulking up orbital and surface to orbit defences.
