The First and Second Armada production run has been completed, though the fleets are not combat-ready. Randall has also agreed to an offer made by the Strigiforme, an exchange of technology combined with a trade agreement.
Randall has also announced the AUF's intention to join either the GSI or SDI, though most of the government is split on which alliance to petition for.

Hey, folks, sixty-nine here [laugh track], with some new and exciting stuff. Well, sort of exciting.
The new Antioch Federation guys are thinking about joining an alliance. To them, I can only reccomend the GSI; we won't subjugate you an enforce cultural correctness with execution, hey?
Their other choice is the SID, or reforming the GSA. They don't seem to be thinking GSA, so they get to choose between Tony Abbot's wet dream on crack, or what can actually be called an international alliance. Go look up the 21st Century Terran politician Tony Abbot if you're confused.
To get on to more immediate topics, the Taln are now at least partly out of their feathered shell, namely, by invading and wiping out half of the Solar Stratocracy. While I'm not a Solari fan myself, that just strikes me as rude. CSN is trying to glare them down, but Admiral Ryder says they're just, quote, waving their *", unquote. Admiral Meinholl said he wasn't sure how fqr they'd go.
Are all avian species total bastards?
Anyway, we'll leave you with some fittingly-ancient Terran music. Without further ado, here's the Barenaked Ladies, with their 1998 - yes, 20th century- hit, One Week.

Re: Where we Left Off
-- Station 21 - The Truth, unmasked --
Thank you for tuning in to Station 21, we're still running despite the gov's AI playtime.
You all know what's going on right now. The Solari made a surprisingly advanced AI, which led to their eventual destruction. And our dear beloved government has decided to shelter this AI.
I mean, if that's not the Great and Bountiful Zuguthian Empire in a nutshell, what is? This AI creates a buttload of ships and swoops off, leading to the destruction of their masters and creators, and these technophiliacs decides to give it a place to live without even thinking about the fact that it might go rouge and start killing off the entire galaxy. Sure, they say they're gonna observe it and make sure it doesn't do anything, but what are they gonna do? Contact it and just say "Now don't you dare destroy the galaxy, you AI you" and then watch as it sails off to rain hell upon all the factions we know and love?
Also, the Tiens have returned. The galaxy's favorite avian race, only because the other one is full of fire-breathing facist fucktards. They have wiped out the Solari Stratocracy, though, so I don't know if that might make them worse than, or at least as bad as the owls?
Anyways, have some classical music while you ponder over this. Gotta keep the culture going, this is a class station after all.

Re: Where we Left Off
:nonmeta:
The MQR has sent an envoy to the AUF, with two goals: keep the AUF from joining the SDI and persuade them into joining the GSI.
This means that while having them join the GSI would be considered ideal, membership in the UGC, which would allow them to stay away from the diplomatic tensions between the GSI and the SDI that are known to have the potential of erupting into war at any given time.
Joining the SDI will be propagated as a "loss of independence", as the Strigiforme essentially treat all other SDI members as their vassals, no matter how powerful they would be.
The MQR is also sending the third fleet to join the Novans at their position and have raised DEFCON to 2, due to uncertain information on Taln military capabilities and superweapons. "better save than sorry", says a military officer after being asked for the reason of such a drastic move by a reporter.
The area around the Crystal Mountains bunker complex, also known as the MQR military's central control for intelligence and superweapon issues, has been evacuated, with no civilians allowed inside.
It is yet unknown whether this has to do with a major issue at the site. Another possible explanation would be that it's connected to the bunker's ability to operating independent from the planet as a very large, though comperatively weak-armed, spaceship in case Equestria was hit by a planet buster. It was also designed to break away in a single piece in the event of such an attack. Anyway, a common suggestion is that they are "testing their engines".

The old systems have been removed and the work on the forward superstructure begins to show results. Old material is being melted down and forged into a different shape. The marked-off part of the hull has almost completely been removed.

Re: Where we Left Off
//AUF Broadcast//
Border patrol units today made an extremely alarming discovery. On a fringe system close to Strigiforme space, an extremely large derelict ship was discovered inside an small nebula. The wreck could not be identified initially due to magnetic interference from the nebula. An elite operations team boarded the wreck and found it completely dead inside, but no signs of a struggle whatsoever. The team ascertained that the wreck was still fully functional and activated the main computer banks, which alerted them to the wreck's identification. After further scans, it was confirmed; the NeoRoman super-dreadnought Aurora has been found derelict with no explanation as to how or why. The super-dreadnought has been recovered and is enroute to a research facility for a full-scale analysis and sweep for any indication of what happened.
Randall issued an order to lock down the borders and commence full sweeps for any indication of hostile threats. In addition, the Nebula is being thoroughly searched and probed for any further anomalies or derelicts within it.

I really don't think that's at all in line with what's been stated about your faction so far. Never mind the obstacles to any offensive maneuvers in a 'Republic'...I can get away with it as the Taln are almost as militarized as the Strigiforme and it makes sense for them to have legal clauses explicitly allowing the bypass of democracy in times of crisis, but you have bureaucracy to contend with. And why would a 'peace-loving' nation vote in favor of deploying a fleet on the offensive against a faction you yourself say is an utter unknown to them in terms of strength? You can say you were summoned by the Novans seeing as you're a vassal, but otherwise it doesn't add up. You're either not a republic at all or as war-happy as the owls.Culture: Peace-loving, but determined to fight for their freedom should the need arise. Religion is heavily influenced by psionics.

He's not a vassal anymore, either. That is a bit off, Ivan.

Re: Where we Left Off
After close to a week of nonstop broadcasting on the part of the enemy, a lone military transport departs the Protectorate formations; it is of the same type currently being used to transport Solari offworld. The ship is en route to the Novan lines, and is escorted by a contingent of Lancers. Their weapons are armed.
Meanwhile, analysis teams have completed deep scans of Alpha Leonis planetary bodies and departed with the last of the Solari volunteers. Now it is only a matter of time.

A fighter element has been sent to escort the Taln ship in; a Spyglass recce craft is now floating along ahead of them, relaying the same message as before by signal light.
A pair of frigates, escorting the diplomatic ship Eclipse, is sitting just outside Protectorate space, transmitting a request to open diplomatic relations.

Re: Where we Left Off
Th Strigiforme have cordoned off the area in their space near where the AUF is searching to prevent unwanted intruders. They have also begun combing the area near the nebula in Strigiforme space, and will turn over any wrecks to the AUF for analysis.
The SDI have sent an envoy to the AUF to show them the advantages of the SDI, such as better mutual defence and superior economic ties. They will be making public pavilions on several worlds to examples of cultures in the SDI, most notably Strigiforme culture, as they are a founding member. It was let slip that the Strigiforme pavilion will include a special dish, the recipe of which has never been published outside of the capital city of Cuuyth, and even then only among the finest of restaurants.
