"I don't know sir," replied his chief intelligence officer, Gordon. "We're trying to determine the message's origin and meaning."

"Is it really that obscure?" Randall said, chuckling. He grabbed the glass of whiskey on his desk and drank from it. "The message is obviously from NeoRome. And it's obvious that they apparently figured out the technology aboard the ARK stations."

"But sir," Gordon stammered, "We can't jump to any conclus-"

"NeoRome is the only empire in NGC 1300, I know from their data archives that they were studying the remnants of the Ohijan ARK, and now this message confirms my theory. They have figured out the ARK station's technology and can harness it." He took another drink. "Dismiss this. It won't affect us unless they go on a genocidal rampage here."

"But what about the other empire's reactions?" Randall thought about this for a minute.

"They'll look to us for answers. We have all of NeoRome's data, their archives, their research programs. We'll take advantage of the situation."

Contact the novans too, and Jade, ask them to help, or ask to help them, depending on whether or not they have started searching as well."
