Meta, research into use of Yttrium as a fuel source for ships, stations, weapons, shields, or other applications has begun, but is likely to be very slow.

Nonmeta, genetic manipulation research has managed to enhance a number of test subjects, including what scientists are referring to as "feedback looping"; any psionic who attempts an attack on the enhanced subject will suffer a backlash in the attempt, possibly to the point of incapacitation. Further research is progressing.

In a roughly 13x18cm area of the screen, lines began appearing like nobody's business. Startled by the in/out traffic, LT-720325 began trying to figure out who was doing what.
Managing to find the beginning of the entry, he read to himself "... HXESV Up 'Til 3 AM... ... Purpose: unknown..." Immediately, he began searching through what they were trying to send them. Scanning the commands, they were absolute gibberish, and even the words made no sense, "positronic uplink"? what the hell was this? No matter, even if they weren't doing whatever it is they were trying to, their codes were still feeding them low-tier classified data, not that we had much to hide, the military more than happily arms as many troops as possible the latest innovations. Anticlimactically, he blocked all communications, not like anyone would notice. He then began assembling a firewall to prevent an intrusion like this again, not that it could even classify as an intrusion in his book.

META:Now,heavy research is being conducted on the psionics field. While psionic soldiers are a reality,normal ship crews need to have some protection against this kind of technology.

Small developments that are still in test phase

Psionic decoys: Drones emiting alpha waves to emulate the brain. This could give the impression of a bigger fleet,or be used as decoy.

The Soriath AI chip : stealth systems cannot [at the moment] hide psionic signatures. The AI chip could be used to diminish the brain activity and function as a secondary brain,hiding to some degree the presence of the being.

Collective mind : A collective mind could be formed by psionic trained crew,to create a psionic "shield" against psionic attacks.

Biochemicals : The use of biochemicals to create a "biologic" resistance against psionic attacks are a possible concept.

All of this is just a concept idea and general direction that the researchers are going.

To expand trade lanes and shorten the great distance between UGC space we would like to propose the counstruction of a Ringhole gate in Darkstar space, This gate would connect to Tajerian space and provide near instant travel between the gates.
All that is need is a large area of space near a sun on your end. If gone through with this will be the largest distance ever covered by a Ringhole gate and if successful will pave way to possibly even longer routes, maybe even into other galaxies.

The A version of these pairs will be implanted with a special wetware computer to see if they improve.

The necessity of a multi-role bomber was solved with the new design : Equalizer Gunship.

The Equalizer is a new addition to the Darkstar shipyards. The Equalizer is a fast multi-role ship,that can be outfitted in many ways.

Its modular construction means that the versatile Equalizer can be reconfigured as a low-altitude gunship, a fighter, a high-altitude bomber, or even a single-stage-to-orbit spaceplane that can engage enemy craft around a planet or a space station. The only role that he cannot perform is that of a true deep-space fighter, as it has no FTL drive.

The Equalizer houses a anti-grav engine which lightens the engine workload, allowing it to take off vertically and hover in place using minimum fuel. This also gives it far greater range and speed than the helicopters and jump-jet aircraft that once filled its niche.

Equalizer gunships are being produced on many shipyards,to bolster planetary defenses on frontier systems.
