Glancing over her shoulder, she caught a glimpse of the Strigiforme - relieved of the burden of life -collapsed in a heap.
Lowering her weapons, she turned back to Taarakra.
"So what brings you to our fine little town, out here in the middle of nowhere?"

Re: Schizo Tech
Martin was trying to get away from the fighting, out of town, and back to his airship, but was stopped on the way by one of the gang members.
"Get out of the.. Marty? Is that you?"
Martin lowered his head, trying to hide his face.
"No, I'm just a regular citizen, trying to get away from the fight, there are owls, please mister kill the owls and protect-"
The gang member started laughing.
"You're not fooling me, amigo. You are going to help Mr. Villa, sí?"
Martin sighed.
"Actually, I was going back to my ship. I helped him enough by calling him about the attack, if my guess is right he is either hiding well or he's left town already."
The ganger frowned.
"Yeah, just run like the * you are. Nordic *, not man enough to stare death in the eye and show him your guts."
"There's a difference between being a man and being an idiot. The difference is if you live or not."
The ganger stepped up to Martin and looked him in the eyes.
"If you fail mister Villa on this, he will be cross."
"Whether I fail him or not, he will be dead."
"You know he will live whether we fight these guys or not. Run, and he will find you and kill you. Fight, and you have a chance to survive."
Martin closed his eyes, tilted his neck back and let out a deep, semi-frustrated sigh, and then pulled out his guns and turned little wheels on both of them.
"All right, I'll help you fight, but if I come out of this alive you owe me a drink, and if I get on a criminal record for this Villa owes me a new identity."

I feel like the Strig are being made out to be the bad guys here. This isn't Guernica, it's a decapatory strike. If you guys had holstered your guns and held your hands/appendages up, you wouldn't be attacked.

Well, my char was planning to just leave as soon as possible, and give no resistance if caught unless they were actually trying to kill him (which would indeed be unlikely), and the only reason he's staying to fight at all is because of his ties with the gang leader.

Because that's the default and you fall back to what's comfortable in lieu of anything else. Maybe I'll step in and try to act in a way that casts you as blasted angelic, but so far I've been busy with other stuff

Re: Schizo Tech
The very limits would be magic nukes I guess, and according to Error you need to be a tiny, old, asian magic master sensei person who just meditates all day and would never use that kind of magic.Solar112 wrote:Solar112 wrote:((What exactly are the limits on magic here?))
But common magic would, I believe, be propulsion for airships, infinite magazines for guns, protected armor, stuff like that.

OOC: I'm thinking of it a the Strigiforme are an unwanted presence, which the insurgent force (Taarakra's employer) is attempting to drive out of the region. They set up the thing as bait for one small part in the whole operation, possibly to capture one specific Strigiforme or get more equipment or something.

"I can't say much. I'm taking part in an op for the larger insurgent group, which's using the local gang... mostly as cannon fodder. They've lured the Republic here, but didn't expect this large of a response. Unless you're working for the Strigiforme," A string of projectiles struck the wall over the two. "I suggest you stay near me."
Taarakra stood and pushed past Val, into the town's center, while changing magazines. He threw his left hand up, palm facing away. A three-meter plate of earth rose out of the ground and hovered beside him, shielding him from a series of bullets and plasma strikes. With his other hand, he held his rifle and angled it toward enemies on the opposite side. It spat a series of flash rounds. The projectiles' impacts stained his vision with white points, temporarily blinding those closer to them. He motioned for Val to follow as he started toward the base of a building across the square.
"A-2 to Cerberus. Review the situation. Consider withdraw or The Contingency."

Now becoming extremely bored Helios decided to go check the surrounding area. Teleporting out of the bar, and into a very unpopulated area, Helios began conjuring parts to build an airship. First was bits of the hull, creating the outside then several decks. The gondola appeared to be a wooden sea faring vessel though it was actually made with a magically enhanced metal. After completing the gondola helios began working on the balloon of the airship. this was going to take a significant amount of time.

Welp guess my attempt at starting interplanetary warfare didn't work, to the medcave. Woosh.Commander Error wrote:1) The odds of a random shot hitting are pretty low.
2) Nobody leaves a rocket launcher (funtional or otherwise) just lying around.
3) It wouldn't fire unless you disengaged the safeties, so no, you didn't shoot down the gyrodyne.
Sorry, but that's not on.

Shaking her head, Val moved off behind Taara, weapons at the ready.

OOC: Alliance was just there to help until officer idiot got himself killed by attacking the republic.
He removed the last Strigiforme from sight and shouldered the plasma blaster launcher, and a communique came in. "Demivian," he said.
"Demivian, you're in command now," replied the other end.
"What?"
"You're officer is dead. You're next in line. Command out." The channel cut off. He shook his head and contacted the ground squad.
"What now?" asked Zane.
"Find the gang leader, he's got to be nearby. We have friends too."
"And you're in command now, I'm guessing?"
"Yes."

OOC: Your* officer.
Finally completing the blimp, and magically fusing it to the gondola he now started conjuring a bit of brass to decorate his ship. Upon completing the conjuration of the brass decorations and fusing them to the ship he started creating the drive system, though he's starting to become tired as channeling the magical energy needed for conjuration is a tiring task. But he held through to the end. Climbing into the gondola he set off, converting the mass of the air in the balloon into magical energy used to drive the ship a bit faster than it would using just ambient magical energy.

Re: Schizo Tech
The crew of the gyrodyne detected a small aerial craft rising.
"Commander, how should we act?"
"Unless it makes hostile movements or tries to leave, don't attack. Attempt to hail them and instruct them to land near our encampment to the east. The Yllvyyx is en route, it can guide them there. I need a status report on the ground."
"Status on the ground is good, SpecOps soldiers report relatively low casualties. Many of the gang members were equipped with faulty weaponry, and have surrendered. Additionally, one sniper reported a sighting of the target, though his direction of movement was uncertain and soldiers who moved to the scene didn't find him."
"Good, continue according to the plan."
Please note when writing this that these are professionally trained, armed, and armoured individuals who kill for a living, and who are far beyond the caliber of average soldiers. I find the frequent killing of them by you guys(notably catsonmeth) to be unrealistic, but I'll let it slide, however all NPCs are being massacred because they are terribad.

Skra felt bad. Not just because he activated his Parapolarizer, but also because he had just seen something terrible. When he gave his Parapolarizer to Demivian it connected to Demivians brain, although it was still synced with Skra. This meant that Skra got a copy of a big portion of Demivians memories. Especially the part, that was suppressed by Demivians implants.
When Skra received those memories, it was hard for him not to throw up. He understood why Demivian hated magic this much. And even now, Skra felt sick. He was on the Gunship with Demivian, who didn't notice Skra, because Skra was still parapolarizerd. Now he sat in a dark corner and tried to meditate, which was hard because of the movement of the aircraft.
Skra looked at his watch, he had 30 seconds left until he had to take another Parpolarizer. Skra took his bag and placed it in front of him. He tried to find the Parapolarizers, but it was not easy. He found them, with only 10 seconds left.
Suddenly the Gunship made a sharp turn, and the bag fell out of it. 5 seconds left. Skra was in panic. 4 seconds left, 3,2,1... Skra felt that the slight static on his fur vanished. Demivian noticed the bag that fell out and turned around.
