The MQR is sending a diplomatic cruiser to meet with the Tajer diplomats.
Due to lack of information about Tajer habits, it is unknown how it will turn out.
Also, the psi-frigates are withdrawn from the operation in the Menya-system.
It is assumed that their assistance is no longer required and the situation is being handled by the other fleets present.

Pretty much the same thing, they're irradiating a portion of the planet. Fen's post is in again.Daynel wrote:--Transmission to Neo-Roman Hierarchy--
Use of nuclear weapons authorized. Good luck.

And ACH, when did I deny nukes? All I've denied is the Solari super-irradiating railguns.
The Cultist's bunker was very deep in the thick granite mountains, and would likely survive to a degree. The missile sites, however, wouldn't. As such, all the missiles were launched at the ships, half going to each one. The massive swarms of 40 missiles, each containing a potent warhead, surged towards the ships. Many were shot down by CIWS, and many others detonated against the shield, weakening it. Only a few breached both, impacting the ships and critically damaging them. The Cultists sealed their bunker, and any on the surface perished. Many upper layers of the bunker were irradiated as well, but the majority remained secure.

The Leonidas Carrier Trailing Dawn was hit in the flight deck by a missile. All but 2 fighters were lost. The carrier locked down the deck and warped out of the system, heading toward the Wispar naval base for repairs.
Shuttles have retrieved the Midway cruisers from Darkstar. They are being uparmored, upshielded, and upgunned to fit the need for a new heavy cruiser.

// Message to the Orion Confederation \\
We wish to buy 5 of your Nike cruisers, with a discount,of course. I think that there are some things that we can learn from your ships.
Also, i hope that you liked the Midway. Sorry for the low weapons level,we just wanted to give a baseline for weapons.
Any report on the planes that we gave you ?

We will sell you the 5 cruisers for 800,000,000 galactic credits each. The Redclaw and Aesir are very good craft, and will be produced en mass and replace our current strike and interceptor craft.

A Hermes frigate is meeting the Tajer diplomatic ship at [GENERIC COORDINATES]. Everyone on the ship is nervous, due to this being the first time the two races have met face to face.

Apocryapha, in high orbit, launched one of her ground-strike warheads. Serving as a follow-up to the NeoRoman strike, the fifty megaton warhead detonated over the preVious blast site, clearing off anyrhing left on the surface and melting the cultist' bunker shut.
MacArthur, further north, witnessed the light of the detonations over the mountains. Increasing altitude, the ship began scanning for any surface sites remaining.

Re: Where we Left Off
AI atmospheric fighters equipped with advanced radar technology have begun scanning the surface of the planet for remaining cultists. So far they seem to have been near completely wiped out. A special team had been prepared to break into the great cultist bunker in the mountain, however thanks to the Novan nuke, this is no longer necessary.
The Zuguthian Empire sends their greatest thanks to all the factions that aided in the Menyan reconquest, and a special memorial building will be constructed once the Menyan society has been rebuilt.
The Novan Commonwealth is also asked if they would mind helping with the radiation cleanup of the area where the mountain housing the great cultist bunker used to be.

Re: Where we Left Off
The Commonwealth would be glad to assist with cleanup. To that end, a number of transport vessels and the battlecarrier Prometheus are being loaded with the required supplies in Novus orbit.
OOC, just a thing - I assume most of the irradiation came from the NR strike, as thermonukes are far more "bang", far less "irradiate". But cleanup will occur regardless.
META - A pair of prowlers, under cloak, are working their wat towards Sagittarius A*, the black hole in the center of the Milky Way.

Diablo's Sword and Heaven's Gate are being recalled to Antioch to undergo repairs; the Omniscient Eye will continue scanning the surface for further threats. To replace the two destroyers, command has authorized the deployment of the N.R.S Cerberus, a heavily armed, armored, and shielded battleship to the system. The overcharged shield capacitors should be able to withstand the missile strikes without issue.
The N.R.S Parallax, carrying an experimental singularity device, is enroute to Vortex station, where the singularity will undergo testing for possible energy applications. It is expected to arrive within 2 hours.
Krtiil has assumed the office of Hierarch earlier today and has made his first executive decision; the complete reworking of the NeoRoman civilian subspace lanes. Many of these lanes are dangerous to navigate due to space debris and malfunctioning sensors, and a special series of fleets has been commissioned to repair these lanes.
OOC: Also, these nukes were underground detonations, and obviously thermonuclear, so the radiation is mostly contained in underground craters.

Re: Where we Left Off
Aboard N.R.S Omniscient Eye
"You told me they couldn't strike our ships." Farlin stood at the front of the bridge, his arms crossed, frowning at the officer below him.
"We didn't know they had such weapons."
"If that had been us there instead of the destroyers," Farlin said. His officer nodded. It was all he needed to know.
"I understand sir."
"Now, what did you want to see me about?"
"Strange data sir."
"Strange data?" Farlin uncrossed his arms. "How so?"
"The Orion Confederation ships in the system." Farlin raised his eyebrows.
"What of them? Nothing about them strikes me as suspicious."
"The number of them, admiral, and their technology." The officer grabbed a data-pad that was lying on the console next to him and brought up a sensor report. He handed it to Farlin. "We effectively decimated their entire fleet during the Imperium war. And their home system was destroyed in a supernova."
"And? What about it?"
"It strikes me as odd that they would be able to rebuild their military to such a level so quickly, especially when their primary infrastructure was destroyed." Farlin narrowed his eyes and looked out the bridge window, at the planet drifting below. He turned back to the officer.
"I see no reason to be suspicious, Lieutenant Dan. Their government has been very cooperative and their intentions are very clear. We have no reason to be suspicious of them, if they are gearing for war again."
"Yes sir, sorry I mentioned it."
"These scan reports are intriguing, however," Farlin replied, looking at the data-pad. "I'll forward it to the council and they can decide."
"Yes sir." The officer walked away. Farlin turned around and looked out the bridge window for a minute, at the planet serenely passing below. He looked at the data-pad again.
Something was off about the signature, but he didn't think much of it.
-Transmission from: L Jahgrin to: Strigiforme Empire-
The Third Battle Fleet is scheduled to conduct war-games in the system previously mentioned. At the admiral's suggestion, we request that you send a small fleet to spar with the Third Battle Fleet in these war-games. It should take no longer than two standard weeks, and all weapon shall be in strictly training mode, as is standard for NeoRoman war-games. We believe that this would be mutually beneficial, giving you a look at the newer NeoRoman ships and technology, and providing our recruits with valuable training and knowledge.
-Transmission End-
[EXPLANATION FOR NEOROMAN WAR-GAMES]
-All weapons are in strictly training mode. While they still damage shields as normal, they do almost no hull damage whatsoever (even Fusion coil splicers). How is this possible? Unfocused energy weapons, unloading explosives from shells, reducing weapon velocity, etc.
-Ships are considered out of the fight when shields go down. Once a ship's shields fail, it is out of the fight and must retreat. It cannot fire or be fired upon.
-All military tactics, save for ones like ramming, are valid. It's essentially a non-lethal military skirmish
-Lasts for approximately two, which is the average length of a NeoRoman military mission.
-Usually conducted with other nations for a mutual benefit; rarely conducted among strictly NeoRoman fleets.
-Hosts a wide variety of missions in a wide variety of conditions, from escort missions in dust clouds to dogfights in asteroid fields, or a skirmish over a planet.

The Strigiforme will send their newly constructed battlefleet(Fleet 35) to the war games. They will be equipped with training equipment identical to their standard loadouts. The Strigiforme will also send a carrierfleet(Fleet 23) to participate in strikecraft drills and carrier battles.

Re: Where we Left Off
Chancellor Yiet was sitting in his office when his secretary sent him a classified document from the Engineering Directorate. Inside, the schematics for a new dreadnought, and the new weapon to go along with it. Yiet smiled. Then he picked up his comms device and, at encryption level 1000 Zulu, called a very specific room in Deep Space 1. "The dreadnought has been prepared and is ready for prototype production. The answer was concise, "Carry on."
At Deep Space 1, in a very special room that was all but impenetrable, the shadow figure removed his hood. It was August Tellaeya, former Imperator of the Orion Imperium.
At the same station, Project Blackstar was being activated and made ready for a mission, to be executed within the coming days.
