Same intelligence, yes. They're just as smart as humans. However, they act far differently. Even if they're as smart, they are an entirely different species which has had a social development radically different from humans. Just look at the differences between cultures at almost every point in human history.

I don't even know why this is an issue, besides. Having them start ages ago merely establishes further that they are really really old. I've made the lore behind them so that they're at about the same level as other people, just with some variances in the distribution of strengths and weaknesses.

As for the overarching stuff, I think we should follow this sort of to do list.
1- species and empire background
2- storyline up to start
3- tech and fleets

We can probably save this for another time, after we do timelines. Speaking of timelines, maybe we could find some program to make an actual timeline timeline? I'm just thinking it would be easier to use than a glob of text.

Until, I don't think there's a point in any non-GM arguing.
Fenway has done about as much as ACH.

He has been GM for all eternity, though. He probably knows best the lore overall.

I see an argument approaching due to ACH mentioning the word 'lore'...

There is no lore currently, but I did choose Fen for his knowledge of the past.

Pretty much, you chose him to legitimate your GM board to put it simple because Fen got influence over the RP in here. With the support of someone like him and elections you held for a spot on the board you gained legitimacy for your own presence on the board, good thinking BTW cats ;) .

What Iv said.
However, this makes you the only self-proclaimed member of the board, so your legitimacy only exist in the effort you put into doing your job as GM by building the new universe, writing up the 'registration forms', etc.
I have given up trying to change your opinion on factors such as the current realism-debate, cats, but please stop acting like you are the 'boss' of the GMs.
If you try to do that, people will drop out of your RPs in masses.

I gained my own legitimacy when I put forth a plan to remake the RP and I hold legitimacy by persisting in my endeavor. I'm one of the few that can have a claim to legitimacy, a quality the members of the board don't share. Mind you, I've been the only one that's attempted to legitimately restructure the RP in its broken, two-year existence. It's my plan that we're following. The Board was an important aspect of that plan, an aspect that has all but fallen through completely. I've only adapted to fit, to make sure this survives. It's not about the game, it's about the lore as a whole. Unless we want that to sink to the depths of the last RP, realism, among others, is a factor that must be considered. Don't take offense when I say I wouldn't trust that factor to the judgement of someone who was an advocate for the inclusion of characters from Sonic the Hedgehog or sentient, magical equines.

1) Legitimacy is gained by people respecting your rule and willingly following your orders. Your kind of legitimacy would work as in leading a country and the leaders of other countries accepting you as the leader internationally. We don't have this layer, so the only legitimacy that matters is the one that makes people follow your orders. And tbh, you don't have a lot of tools to make people follow them. If you do the exact opposite of what everyone wants due to some plan that you refuse to change as flaws (or simply stuff that would drive people away from the roleplay) are pointed out, people might make their own stuff. Maybe you'll call your RPs the 'official' ones, but without either ACH or Fenway on your side, you will look like some evil dictator no one is willing to follow. And the only method of enforcing your system are your voice and thread ownership rights. I am not trying to stop you from doing stuff, but I am warning you that some compromise is required for your plan to not go downhill.

2) Elaborate 'the depths of the last RP', AFAIK people were quite happy with it.

3) If my choice to not include realism makes you doubt my ability to judge the reception of hardcore realism by the community I have joined in many more empire RPs than you have, you are NOT helping your point. That's like a liberalist saying that socialists don't know how politics work.

I have no need to explain myself to you. I'm not running a country, I'm redesigning our canon because it used to be shit. If you didn't notice that this entire thing was because of that, then I really do doubt your judgement of what the RP is. This isn't the time nor is it the place to try to stage some usurpation over a petty issue. I'm going to continue to structure the RP how I think it will benefit us in the long-term. I'll also say that the only ones that have spoken against this are the ones that have resisted at other points along the way, with the addition of Ach, the Silent Game Master. This is no time for grudges.

Then I demand to know what you meant by the last RP. because people were in fact happy with it.

This isn't really about grudges, it's about us thinking what you are doing is incorrect for the RP. We have you the position to restructure the lore and stuff, but that also means you are most definitely open for criticism.

What ACH said. Also you may or may not have noticed that at some parts I was on your side, catsonmeth. I don't pick the side who's supporters I favour, I pick the side who has the better idea in my opinion, I do not have a grudge against you. If at all, the only reason to have a grudge would be you calling me unable to use common sense, which was unprovoked rudeness. Also I am not starting a rebellion. I am warning you that others might start it as soon as you decline their 'unrealistic' applications. You say the RP was broken. What I got from everyone else sounded more like 'it is messy'. People tasked you to clean up the house, but from what I can see, you're demolishing it and building a new house. One that most players would not want to live in. The argument is not about us not wanting you to clean up the RP, but about you tearing down everything. You were supposed to fix the RP, not remove everything except for a core of the principle that can be expressed in a single sentence.

I seem to spend a lot of time reiterating that the entire purpose of this is to completely rebuild the lore from the bottom up. This wasn't meant to simply clean up the lore, I'm not sure what aspect of that statement is confusing to you. It has been like this from the beginning. If you didnt realize this than youre missing the point completely.

@ach: I only accept criticism if it doesn't interfere with progress.

@solar: If you don't have anything to say, don't say anything.
