Re: Have a Picture...
@Tiel what LJS meant propably was that it was official Lucasfilms-licensed artwork, which means that whoever made it propably had access to the original model used in the films.
So yea, what LJS said.

Hsaio is a fanon artist with the rare render or two designated canon (mostly for EU) and even if he was buttbuddies with Lucasfilms there was hardly any CGI in any film with ISDs. They used physical models that I doubt anyone outside of the higher echelons of management would be allowed to look at.Ivan2006 wrote:@Tiel what LJS meant propably was that it was official Lucasfilms-licensed artwork, which means that whoever made it propably had access to the original model used in the films.

Re: Have a Picture...
Nope. His model was used in The Force Unleashed. It's canon. Granted TFU itself was not included in Disney's list of things to save, but it seems reasonable to assume that a super-high-quality ImpStar is still a super-high-quality ImpStar.Chairman Tiel wrote:Hsaio is a fanon artist with the rare render or two designated canon (mostly for EU) and even if he was buttbuddies with Lucasfilms there was hardly any CGI in any film with ISDs. The Force Unleashed? You mean that was the thing I ripped out of the sky? Gosh, I remember that, what a pain.

Don't tell anybody, but to this day I have a faint hope for Futurecraft, or something similar to it, to happen. Within my lifetime.

Re: Have a Picture...
Nope. The model in TFU wasn't even licensed or anything - the devs just nabbed the model and didn't credit anyone. If that's canon it's a very loose definition of the term, especially seeing as the game itself is on a very dangerous precipice as it is.Kzin wrote:Nope. His model was used in The Force Unleashed. Re: Have a Picture...
I think we need to ignore for now the issues with Disney killing off the EU. For the purposes of this discussion, if it was canon a month ago, it's still fine for this. Moving on from that, why does the model being uncredited have any affect on whether or not it's canon? The Force Unleashed was unquestionably canon. The model appeared in The Force Unleashed. Therefore the model is canon. That's what canon means.Chairman Tiel wrote:Nope. The model in TFU wasn't even licensed or anything - the devs just nabbed the model and didn't credit anyone. On a somewhat relevant side note, Hsiao isn't just some random fanon artist. This is the guy who made the UNSC Infinity for Halo 4. A couple of his models haven't been used anywhere and won't be canon until/unless they are, but most of his work has shown up somewhere. He contributed a lot of stuff to the Essential Guide to Warfare in particular. It's not like some random dude made an ImpStar that the Force Unleashed team grabbed; he's an accomplished modeler who's worked on multiple science fiction series and has a fairly impressive list of contributions to the Star Wars universe.

Re: Have a Picture...
I've looked at his career and those appear to be the exceptions, not the rule. The Star Wars projects in particular were only after he was what I suppose you could say 'discovered' in his TFU work.
Art is nothing more than a visual interpretation of how we perceive an object or thing, and I find it hard to consider an asset canon if it wasn't created by someone under contract to make an accurate representation of what we're discussing here. More likely than not the dev team was found wanting for space in their schedule and snatched it up (as he offers pretty much all his stuff for free) instead of devoting the time to making their own.
I have no desire to argue with you, but that's just where I stand on this and it's not subject to change anytime soon.

I find that render ugly too, needs to be sleeker and painted black. And a ram reds to be put in the front for tacticool engagements.
