Re: FC content pack flan's [SUPERTHREADNAUGHT]
I spent a lot of time considering it, actually went and designed one, and I'll probably be hitting a similar part count with this one if I carry on at this rate.catsonmeth wrote:Have you considered doing a huge ship or something just for shits and giggles?
EDIT: found the reference model I drew up for said ship I was planning:

Re: FC content pack flan's [SUPERTHREADNAUGHT]
Why actually don't you make a ship?
The helicopter mode of Flan's mod would be sufficient. And it could annihalate anything Manus would throw at you.
PS: You still need a counter for his XX-9

I'm guessing that it would be a huge cumbersome hitboxy sonofabitch.

Re: FC content pack flan's [SUPERTHREADNAUGHT]
Not too bad, but I originally wanted to use the hitboxes so that you could walk around inside. Which doesn't work.catsonmeth wrote:I'm guessing that it would be a huge cumbersome hitboxy sonofabitch.
As for countering the XX-9, you mean a turret? Cause I have one already, just needs a texture. Failing that nuclear railguns counter pretty much anything.
But back to the ship, I'm not sure I'll pull that off, something that scale with that level of detail will take months to produce, so it's not happening anytime soon.
But in terms of best model, so long as I maintain this level of detail on Rex, it'll easily be better than the Baneblade.

Re: FC content pack flan's [SUPERTHREADNAUGHT]
I think texturing the turret should be pretty high up your priorities, considering you want to outclass Manus' sci-fi pack.
Since I don't know how large that ship would be, I can't help you with advice about it either.
However, I suggest making your turret fire plasma shells (shells which, either on impact or after a certain time, release a cloud of plasma that causes AOE demage and sets the surroundings on fire), resulting in it being an allrounder (capable of being used for AA, AP or AT purposes effectively)

I can have anti tank and anti air shells.

You guys need to be careful with this arms-race thing. Remember that you're not just making models to see who can be the best; you're designing vehicles that people then use in an FPS. You guys both seem to be dedicated to making the biggest, baddest, OPest vehicle you can, and that's great for modeling but not great for anyone who uses your packs in actual gameplay.

Re: FC content pack flan's [SUPERTHREADNAUGHT]
This is one model, I'm allowed to go nuts once in a while no?
I've spent far more time working balances out the last few months than actual modelling, and Manus has not done the same (4000 health on the madcat, 2000 is just about reasonable for a mech of that size, and the recipe does not reflect this)
And even if this is an arms race, a balanced model will always win, I have learnt this after a couple months actually playing with these on a server. Rex isn't even that big, smaller than the Madcat actually, but it can be done with a lot of detail. And the railgun will be slow firing, have conventional ammunition and have the nuclear warhead as a very expensive alternative ammo.
Also * laser.
If I wanted OP I'd do an emperor class titan and get it over with.

I think the whole competition is much more beneficial for balance than just pulling designs out of the blue and implementing to one's own perception of perfection. In an arms race of this sort you're going to end up with cosmetically different sides at the very least, because both authors are mature enough to know the limits and care enough about their respective projects to abide by them.

Re: FC content pack flan's [SUPERTHREADNAUGHT]
Well I wanted to make Rex anyway, this was just a really good excuse.
I'm also trying to draw up a new parts system, using modular bodies, arms, legs and a variety of different tier armour, components, hydraulics ect, after a brief discussion with Ivan concluded that there needs to be more mech parts.
I'm thinking I can use a weapons box as a kind of alchemy station to produce various materials.

At this point, I can already recognize it, but it still lacks hips, legs and dakka and I really hope it gets finished before Manus' Baneblade Armada steamrolls us.

Re: FC content pack flan's [SUPERTHREADNAUGHT]
Well I'm only getting around an hour a day at the moment to work on things, however Manus takes ages to update for some reason.
But I can release this as soon as it's finished as I don't have to worry about all the other stuff I'm doing to the FC pack.
