Re: Standard Faction/Race Information Sheet Format
If you wanted a spot on the Board, you should have nominated yourself in the polling. That said, I admit that your bickering has resulted in some interesting ideas.
I like the "space jerusalem" idea in that there are multiple human factions holding watch over it, but I think realistically it would be less of a religious matter than a political one or just the principle of holding to your homeland. For some it would be religious, of course, humans are a relatively spiritual race. There would be a few billion allowed to live on the surface (immigration would be strictly controlled), most would live in a handfull of massive cities and the rest would be preservationists restoring the natural parks, which would cover most of the land and oceans. Industry would be closely regulated. Toward the later part of the 3rd millennium, regulations wouldn't be as harsh. It would make sense for other races to hold their homeworld in equal regard, though maybe not so strictly regulated as that regulation was a result of reconstruction after catastrophe for Humanity. Let's also say that Terran describes those who were born on Earth or have traceable ancestry Terrans.
This is right off of the top of my head here, but I've come up with a rough timeline for Earth current-first contact.
Timeline:
CE 1996: Star Trek: First Contact
2014: Current (if you didn't realize)
2020: First successful high-orbit-to-surface military strike, beginning of second space race
2030: First colonization of Mars, establishment of permanent facilities on Luna.
2040: Mission to a moon of Jupiter or Saturn or something.
2050: Lunar launch base and mining operation established
2060: Beginning of more permanent Mars colonies
2070: Mission to Kuiper Belt object
2080: Immigration to Mars, more than ten thousand inhabitants.
2090: First orbital spaceport established for handling of traffic to and from Mars, Luna, and satellite colonies of the Gas Giants.
2100: First (successful) manned mission to beyond the Kiuper Belt.
2120: Extraterrestrial Migration
2130: FTL engine experiments
2140: First manned FTL travel
2150: FTL mission to Alpha Centauri, beginning of Expansion Race
2160: FTL commercially available, Second Extraterrestrial Migration
2170: Dissolution of United Nations, mass Terran Migration (Back to Earth)
2172: First incident of military engagement outside of Earth's Orbit
2173: Beginning of WWIII
2174: Trans-Neptunian Insurrection
2179: Fall of Earth, end of WWIII. Nuclear weapons were used by insurrectionists and combatant nations, turning some heavily-inhabited areas into wastes.
2180: Official end of Trans-Neptunian Insurrection (AKA the Kuiper Revolution)
2185: Beginning of the Reconstruction of Earth
2190: First Contact

Re: Standard Faction/Race Information Sheet Format
I support this timeline. As for NeoRome, my faction split off around 2170 with a colony ship or something, popped up later.
Ah fuck it, time to go make a faction page- again.

NeoRome could be part of the Insurrection. Up to you, of course. And we have to make a faction sheet format before we do faction pages.Professor Fenway wrote:I support this timeline. As for NeoRome, my faction split off around 2170 with a colony ship or something, popped up later.

Re: Standard Faction/Race Information Sheet Format
why be a gm when you can push your ideas just as effectively without the cumulative ire of the RP board?

Re: Standard Faction/Race Information Sheet Format
How did WW3 end up after the immigration if the unification wars were the cause of it ? Actually that timelines fits very little with known UTA records, I thought you put things together not write them anew.

@Iv: Go reread my plan. I don't recall anyone saying anything about article I.

lets begin with WTF is article I, I dont get your prob either tiel, you have an origin story tied into it ? If yes then say so, you are even worse than me I at least give actual holes -.-", plus you know as much as you get freedom about your origin story so do I have to get it too, its easy to put the blaming finger on me all the time.

K I got it I got booted, well enjoy then, I guess I don't give a shit about what you gonna write there anymore, keep in mind though that not everyone will take that nicely to being booted, I guess those who are part of the GM board got their factions saved from it but any other faction will prob have to be "punched into shape" so to say so that if fits in the gaps those "official' factions will leave around.
K perhaps I went too far I just can't make myself not to care, alright Ill throw you a little suggestion cats, your description lacks shape. Similarly to your designs if you try to make a good story at least use a good "shape" for it, that is the main skeleton of the story leaving out all the addons. First of all most of the stuff you wrote there can be considered addons, thats not what your story is about. Your ship cant be just greebling.

I've been telling you from the start that centering your entire lore around something that is by no means exclusively yours and subject to change was a bad idea.Iv121 wrote:lets begin with WTF is article I, I dont get your prob either tiel, you have an origin story tied into it ? Re: Standard Faction/Race Information Sheet Format
I'd give an argument, but I can honestly say I can barely understand what Iv is saying.
Here is my race sheet basic idea. It gives room for the person to adaquately describe things, so that they don't just have to say "democracy" and "7/10 military"
Faction name:
Size of faction(number of systems and number of worlds):
Key exports and notable exports(economy):
Political structure(government):
Production capacity:
Military description(special tech, fleet sizes, ect)
Misc:
Now, things like production aren't some mathematical formula. It's just used to judge the rate at which ships are produced. If I have 80 shipyards, and say I'm making 90 ships, 2 months later it's reasonable if I have 90 more ships. However, if I have 20 shipyards and I make 90 ships, then people can call god modding on me if they are done by the side of forever.
