I assume we have, essentially, a pile of NPC vessels hanging out with the group, too?

[Name] Lotho Keraete
[Species] Aquan
[Occupation (Before fall)] He was a high ranked member of the "Galactic Physicians" one of the most advanced medical communities that existed.
[Name of Ship] DSR-2 Britanny
[Type of Ship] Civilian long range stealth Recon with the size of a corvette. It has been modified with a large medical bay.
[Armament level] Small, only a few armed scout drones
[Defenses level] Minimal, this ship uses it's stealth and speed to survive.
[Back-story] Before the fall he was a member of the "Galactic Physicians". His main objective was to infiltrate conflict areas and provide medical aid. He was lucky not to disappear together with Aquan Prime, as he was on a mission to aid the civilians on Cruxis Alpha, where a civil war raged, as the neighbour system disappeared earlier. After his home system disappeared he was shocked, as he lost his family, his friends and because the "Galactic Physicians" had their main base there. The only thing that held him from going mad was his crew. Now he flies with the last fleet and helps with reconnaissance and medical work.

Captain Varkas looked out the small window in the closet that were his quarters. Despite the time they'd been in Andromeda, he could not shake the unfamiliar feeling of such an alien starfield, at least it was better than the space between, here there was something to see. Releasing a heavy sigh, he laid back upon the raised mattress that was his bed.
It could've very well meant Novan Commonwealth Ship, but if you say so.Professor Fenway wrote:Fixed. All is well. And NCS stands for NeoRoman Civilian Ship, btw.

OOC: Novan ships are either CSV (Commonwealth Space Vessel, navy only) or CS (Commonwealth Ship).

Re: Desperation
Vladius was on the bridge of his corvette. He sighed. He was in command of a ship that was armed and armored, yes, but it was nothing compared to his beloved Nike battlecruiser. He snapped an order to the helmsman, "Stay in formation! We're part of the protection of this fleet, and you'd damn well better remember that." The helmsman practically jumped out of his skin, "Aye aye, sir," he stammered. Vladius sighed again. Then his eye caught something on the scanner. An asteroid, with large tungsten reserves. He opened a channel to the Restitution, "This is Captain Brinxton of the Intrepid. I have an asteroid on long-range scanners with large tungsten reserves. At least 80 tons worth. Request orders."

Re: Desperation
Chernov was at the bridge of the Angel, looking out at space and the surrounding ships. The Andromeda galaxy was.. different from the Milky Way galaxy, he could not explain how. And this was not the first time the Angel of Eden had been here, it had been the first Zuguthian colony ship to be sent to this part of space, although that was long ago, and with a different captain.
Chernov wondered what had happened to the Zuguthian Andromedan colony. If it could even be counted as Zuguthian. The planet it had been founded on was technically Novan, after all, and the colony hadn't really had much of an active contact with the Zuguthian government. If the colony was still there, Chernov wasn't sure it had even noticed what had happened in the Milky Way.
Those questions could wait until they were safe, though. They would have to find a good planet, or at least asteroid, where they could start building a colony. 5 years of briefly mining from one asteroid to the other had given them more or less enough minerals to construct a domed town, maybe even with farms and docking spaces.
If nothing else, they could at least set up a few steady mines and continue living in the ships until they had enough materials.

Re: Desperation
Belavrius eyed Vladius' request from the bridge of the Restitution. Ahead of him the Arconium Alloy was transparent, showing a stunning view of the galaxy below. A brilliant spiral, much like the Milky Way, but nearly twice as dense. If they were lucky, the colonies were alive. But they were still too far out from the arms. He glanced over to another console, this one showing the status of the beacons dropped before them. Surprisingly, none of the beacons between the Milky Way and Andromeda went dark. But he wasn't taking any chances. Never.
He looked back at Vladius' message. "Negative, we're still too far out." He then opened a fleet channel. "Bridging the final jump to Andromeda in 5 minutes, hold formation and standby."

I may have already informed you about my latest theories about the darkness, about what purpose the ring world could serve.
The first is records of scripture from one of the sites where we previously located ancient Skytherian relics, that tell prophecies about an entity named Axitius bringing about an apocolyptic event. Descriptions about said prophecy involve the mysterious disappearance of stars from the sky, in a similar fashion to how our nations fell one after another. It described a "black spot" in the sky, which would expand and consume the rest of the sky until it touched down on the planet. Of course this is likely myth, but I find it interesting about how the name Axitius seems to mean, in what we know about the Ancient Skytherian language, something along the lines of "forever nothing" or alternatively "eternal darkness".
But the chances of this describing this current event? I find it hard to believe. However, another aspect, I certainly find interesting. The scripture was dated to around 6-8 million years ago, and cited the event as due to occur in what was then the near future. We do not know exactly when the Skytherians as a race died out, but if it was in this bracket, well, this is where it gets interesting.
We know for fact the ARK stations were all de-activated roughly 7.5 million years ago, and nothing in the ARK data core could explain why. We concluded that something else caused a shutdown, and previously believed it to be a side effect of the Strigiforme superportal event that brought them into our universe.
Now, the ARKs have only ever been de-activated once other than 7.5 million years ago, and many of us witnessed it first hand.
Did I also mention the only fully known extinction of a spacefaring alien species also occurred 7.5 million years ago?
I believe this has happened before, it's only a theory at this point, we know this all started with the ring world. But only after we cracked it open. Sounds to me like it was a container, or perhaps a prison.
The data we collected from it reveals little about who built it, wasn't any race we know of, and it isn't part of the ARK series, too young and the energy signatures are totally different. I would very much like to go back there, however that isn't an option.
My team will continue scouring through our data reserves to find any potential information.

Sregor paced tirelessly up and down the small corridor that led down the ship, the corridor was off center to accommodate a set of stairs leading to the cargo hold. Currently the cargo hold held a set of three beds and a small refrigeration unit of food.
Stopping next to the opening at the front of the corridor sregor peaked in to check on his brother, who was piloting the ship. "Any word from the rest of the fleet?" sregor asked with a clearly distraught voice.

Re: Desperation
Staring into space, Repulse's commander sighed to himself. In time-honored tradition, they would be spreading their supplies thin. Again.
Valkyrius flipped several switches, warming his ship's jump drives. Satisfied, he turned to his XO.
"Art, load tube five with a recce beacon. Drop it... thirty seconds prior to the jump. Have it online in ansible mode." When the other man nodded, he turned to his panel, contacting the Restitution, informing them of their jump-readiness.
He paused, considering, and opened a voice channel to the NeoRoman vessel.
"Restitution, Repulse. Permission to execute the next jump one minute prior to the rest of the fleet?" he transmitted.
