Your sketches were drawn up when I was much more limited, and that's what I asked of you.

The Scimitar had the most time spent on it by a long shot compare to any of the other models (about a month and a half, seriously) , so sorry if I didn't do a pod enough job but I did not treat it like crap, if I wanted to do that I would have simply ignored it. I also plan on remaking it in the near future to get it set up properly with hitboxes and the new physics, because of how I made it last time it would need a total re-do, which I am prepared to do once I have a few things out of the way.

The Atlas is a different story, my own abilities and the tools available have improved a lot since it wa designed, it would have been a perfect design this time last year, but needs massive fleshing out to bring it up to scratch now, not your fault, although so far nobody can decide what it is supposed to look like, and things are much easier when I know what it's supposed to look like when I start, otherwise we end up with Dolphins and derpface Omega.

So I'm sorry if you feel they were treated like shit, I really don't mean to give that impression, it's just they were made with certain restrictions in mind, and those restrictions are no longer in place, again, not your fault.

If you have a suggestion for this, the redesign stage, then by all means throw it out here, but I'm not doing anything new ATM. Just refining the current design so its easier to model. If you want your designs to be accepted, make more of them. The only way to get better at this is to practice it, and even then only a fraction are modeled. I have three or four mech designs, four crawlers, four or five aerial vehicles, numerous weapon systems, an equipment series, and some other stuff. Maybe six have been modeled.

Proto, Do you know how to make guns with the current Flans? Im wanting to mess around with models but I appear to need flans toolbox which is nonexistent from what I've seen.

As in 1.7.2? No haven't looked at it yet, I want everything sorted for 1.6.4 first as the majority of the user base is still using 1.6.4.

And it's the SMP toolbox you are after:

http://www.minecraft-smp.de/download.php

And I've made about three designs accurate to Cat's specification, and based two more off them.

Also if you want to write up a backstory about the Peregrine (so far all I've got is it's a Batiss mech used by the Strigiforme), go ahead, I can probably do it myself if you don't want to, but I'm trying to write up some lore about all this, and some backstory/history to each mech and vehicle (so far Omega is a rework of the failed Lamentor line, and Fafnir is the result of a corporate battle between Darkstar and Tellrim, will elaborate later)

Also something about a pan galactic war where the Strigiforme came in with a super portal to ruin everyone's day, various factions joined together against the Strigiforme to destroy the super portal, and the NSCD came in somewhere afterwards after the ARK was disturbed by a clash between Strigiforme and Novan ships.

Leviathan tank, two three mech weapons, one infantry weapon, now the Peregrine. So five.six if you edited the dolphin. I feel like I'm missing something, though.

After I have refined the Peregrine torso a little more, I think I'm going to do another mech (unless Proto has something else on the agenda), since all of the current ones are three piece digitigrade leg style. Probably something more or less based off of this old one:

It'll be smaller, a more raw and industrial kind of thing for anti-personnel. So if anyone has any ideas on that I'll go ahead and take note.

E: @Proto: I wrote a short history on it and was planning to add a little more for the function and tactics and such. I'll post it if I can find the file. There's also the short descriptions of the weapons on one of the previous pages. I can add some info to those too, and the toaster if you plan on putting that in.

The mech weapons weren't quite as you drew them.

Oh I forgot the Anti infantry cannon, that was as you drew it. And I never bothered with the Dolphin, it's not overly important though, rather do other things.

I'm not too comfortable diving too deeply into interfaction lore until the GMs get that all sorted out, but here's the Peregrines's info sheet.

Model: FV-BM 40

Title: Peregrine

Role: Multirole Battlemech

Origin: Batiss Combine

Produced: CE 2450-2700

In Service: 2450-2870

The Peregrine combat mech was originally manufactured by the Kaal Military Equipment Corporation in the Tec Kaal system. Due to its high maneuverability and long-range standard payload, along with relatively low cost of production, it became popular among Clan militias throughout the Batiss Combine. For the years after initial manufacturing, the Kaal Military Equipment Corporation was regulated by the Central Government, meaning that Peregrine mechs and all other products of KME could be purchased outside of the Combine only in illegal deals and black markets. After the second Merek-Karth Civil War in 2470, the Peregrine design and rights were sold to Havoc Arms Industries, which was under much less regulation. The Peregrine can now be found throughout the galaxy, used extensively by the Strigiforme military.

Named for a raptor of Earth, the Peregrine was designed to be a quick-response and long-range fire support mech. Its relatively small stature and powerful leg build allow for a high top speed. The swayback torso with aftward hardpoints cause it to be able to support longer range, albeit slightly lighter, weaponry, but it has been found that the Peregrine's agility is useful in close-range mech-to-mech fighting as well. It should also be noted that, with the FV-BM 40's high-visibility cockpit construction and adaptable electronic suites, it can be an effective recon and field scout mech.

E: I feel like we could make another FC wiki for the new RP and stuff from the Flan's pack. It might actually work if we clear all the other stuff out.

Either Tau or I have the ability to set up Mediawiki on our respective hosts. The problem with the wiki last time was that there was not really a clear method of organization and everything was more or less haphazard - everyone just pursuing their own agenda, maybe making a page or two, and then banging out.

With the new system in place it's certainly feasible; could easily discern between RP stuff and any development pages that might come later.

@ cats as I said treating one stuff or another like trash was not the reason I posted it. It doesn't matter how many times you redesign your work there, it is still not recognizable enough in my opinion and it won't leave a strong impression on those who view it. How do you know your design is good ? If it is good it will be memorable, people will easily recognize it, the stuff I saw in the spoilers didn't leave a lasting impression, therefore I noted it for you, don't want to listen to me - don't listen.

Iv, you bring up a good point, but I have to reiterate that your attitude weighs it down. There's a certain way one should go about providing feedback, and it doesn't involve the degree of negativity you invoked (whether intentional or otherwise) in your original post. In my personal opinion I don't think it's a matter of your thoughts being ignored from the onset, but rather the way you go about presenting them. Not saying you need to fart rainbows, but always remember that you can only whip a donkey so much before it stops listening.

@Tiel: If we only give writing power to the GMs and designers, modelers, and devs it would work. With the new RP system, we'd already have info sheets for factions and races, and if designers keep up with Protopack designs we'll have those too.

@Iv: Which designs? The Peregrine has a pretty distinctive shape and a few memorable features if I may myself say, each variation isn't supposed to be different from the original. The old plantigrade humanoid design is supposed to be a bit more arhcetypal mechsuit with one or two memorable quirks. It hasn't gone through any revision at all. The LRAC is meant to be identified with the Peregrine, so it's just supposed to look cool with it, not really to be too memorable by itself (but it's still moderately distinctive). The GAU-36 Paladin is kind of based off of existing GAU models because they're pretty awesome and it would make sense for them to still be in use decades or centuries after production, but since it's the only gatling-style mech weapon currently in the pack it's not too bad. It also has a name, which is nice. The Slip-Merge Fissure Projection Device has distinction in both form and function, it's the only spacial disruptor currently. The gauss rifle is literally the result of me thinking "what's a neat gauss rifle design" and drawing it.

@Cats: Don't worry about following RP lore, we'll never get anything done if we do that.

Gauss rifles are a must for mechs (can't change the rules, sorry), and I currently don't have a weapon of that type. The GAU-36 I can take or leave though, we already have an auto cannon so I'll likely make something else in it's place, and perhaps add it in later.

@iv: Fair point but it's by no means easy to resolve. I mean I don't know if anyone here is even remotely capable of just pulling a really memorable design out of their ass, I'll settle for one that looks good. Because for this kind of thing, you don't just look at it, you use it, if it looks good and works well it's a lot more memorable. If that made sense, I'm saying looks alone aren't solely responsible for making something memorable, Manus's madcat looks amazing, but plays like shit so nobody uses it. My Fafnir is the opposite, looks like shit but plays well, and people prefer it and use it more.

Either that or it's the shark fin. Shark fins are boss.

That and people always have different opinions about things, Taco/Tinker will tell you the SA-2 is the absolute shit, whereas I'll tell you that it is absolute shit, so while one may find it memorable, it doesn't necessarily mean everyone else does. Of course that ratio can change somewhat, but can't be properly manipulated.

Well you have very little control over how your meshes will play as you do not code how it happens, all that is left is the looks. the most basic way to make something memorable is distinct shape, pull out the best starships you can think of quickly, pulled one ? You prob have one with distinct shape. Settle down on a good shape and you already did most of the job, all that is left then is to put detail on it.
