Iv, you're trying to make humans into some deux ex, when they are not. The Strigiforme shields have blocking everything as a special ability. It's not a thing that can be turned on or off, just their shield's inherent nature. Obviously, they have other shield types, but the best one they have blocks everything from both sides.

Re: Poll, Lore Reset
Given support for the idea I outlined earlier, I will be writing and finalizing the rule set and game concepts, as well as posting a more complete draft for discussion. Also, I agree with Ach: NO copyrighted stuff. That means ponies, compounds, everything.
Other additions to the plan outlined;
Resources. You CANNOT add resources not actually in existence to the RP. During the course of researching, empire-wide projects, or colonizing, I may announce that you have discovered a new resource, which will vary. Multiple empires may obtain the same resource over the course of time. These resources count as special tech-levels, with which new devices and such can be made and researched with. FOR EXAMPLE:
Yttrium-90 is an isotope of Yttrium. It boasts EXTREME energy generation, conducting, and storage capabilities. Yttrium-90 is not naturally occurring, and it is exceptionally difficult to synthesize Yttrium-90 without huge quantities of energy. However, large synthesizers using Yttrium-90 are able to synthesize Yttrium-90 in large quantities for little cost.
Also, solution to the humanity-liberation thing and Strigiforme presence;
The Strigiforme entered this universe through a dimensional gate a million years before Humanity reached the stars. They quickly expanded and conquered, and began spreading across the galaxy. Luckily for humanity, they were right on the border of Strigiforme space when they were developing, and the Strigiforme did not detect them until a passing scout discovered their ships jumping from system to system. Humanity was quickly conquered and kept under control for a decade or two, along with the other nearby fledgling empires. After a decade of occupation, humanity rebelled and countless Strigiforme ships in dry-dock were siezed. Before the Strigiforme could effectively consolidate the forces to stop them, many of the ships became kamikazes, smashing themselves into the dimensional warp gate connecting this Strigiforme outpost with the main Strigiforme universe. Without any way to send a message to headquarters, coupled with the fact that the dimensional gate was really frickin' expensive, the Strigiforme empire here was stranded without outside support. Cue the independence war, with Humanity fighting a guerrilla scorched-earth war against the Strigiforme. Other smaller empires join in, having been hiding from the Strigiforme or being under control as well.

Im not making humans into gods. Read carefully what I wrote, its not only much more realistic than the description of humans idiotically somehow defeating all owls while dying all out but also much more fair. I do not expect humans to be able to do such thing or to be such idiots to throw away all their lives just to liberate themselves from some owls that only do fleet repairs in their systems anyway. Either way as I explained, the owls rely on shields that cannot block everything or else apart from being idiotically OP they will also need to make loads of calibrations to the shield that will basically make it fragile, nullifying all your attempts at making your impervious shields. That means that either way actually terran torpedo warheads will do a good job on the owl hulls so long the owls don't get to shoot back. The owls on their side got no time or fleet to waste on those fringe terran systems and instead focus on the main galactic forces against them. That means that terrans alone could not defeat the owls however they could liberate their own systems from them. Due to the fact that humans are a separate entity from the owls in all present and future RPs it is safe to assume this rebellion happened and succeeded. Now tell me that is not fair ? Or that it doesn't make sense ?
An interesting fact is that this lore is actually quite coherent with your average terran play style in our RPs, making it even more believable.

I think it'd be hard to say there's a 'terran play style' when you rarely if ever participate. I still am not hot on this whole terran thing, (it really seems like you're just trying to make them into Israel in Space, Iv) but I guess it can't be helped. None of this really affects my lore so I'll just bite the bullet here.

I'm pretty happy to reset my lore, I'll do the same stuff but it'll be done properly. No weird plot holes.

I already proved in a few diff points why the UTA is not Israel in space, Ill let you find where the hell it is and read it again because I can't be arsed to write it again here ...
Either way that is going off the topic at hand, you will have to agree that my explanation of the events makes much more sense than "The Terran salves owned the superior owls with human sacrifices until humanity was almost brought to extinction".

The thing is, this is an established empire that has made putting down other peoples an art form. Not only would the Strigiforme be able to disable any captured ships and technology with ease, the humans aren't even educated. They've never gone to school; you seem to take your education for granted. If they stole a ship, it would likely be a slave revolt on a transport ship mid FTL, causing them to drop out of FTL over a habitable world. The humans aren't some client empire of the Strigiforme; they're actual manual labour slaves, who serve the Strigiforme.

Not at all, this has everything to do with it.Iv121 wrote: Either way that is going off the topic at hand,
Is yours preferable to ACH's version? Yes. And that's why I'm willing to go along with it. But it's hardly optimal.Iv121 wrote: you will have to agree that my explanation of the events makes much more sense than "The Terran salves owned the superior owls with human sacrifices until humanity was almost brought to extinction".
And also, it's either humans or terrans. Don't use them interchangeably, it gets confusing.

Terrans are from Earth or the Sol system, normally human.
Humans are those bloody annoying bipeds that get everywhere.

In our case they are one and the same, simply because the only other humans are NeoRome whom Ill let to decide how to join all that stuff on their own.
@ ACH yes, although not ppl on Earth are educated there are more than enough educated ones to steal some prototypes from you. You underestimate those species ACH, their ability to organize and act, that was probably the reason why those prototypes fell into human hands that easily and why one morning stingifrome woke up to discover that they got terran ships with shields bombarding them with tactical warheads, they simply let their guard down. Humans perhaps are not too advanced technologically but as a species we are quite crafty and adaptive bastards. And also I frankly dont get why you complain so much, you were allowed to rule like half the known galaxy or something, that was the owl's golden hour, now it is the terran time to shine a little (not rly as they merely liberated their own territories from the owls, again Im more interested to know what other sides stingifrome faced that could defeat it and why)
Also tiel if you have a proposal that makes more sense Im all ears.

Excuse you, there are other human factions. Like the Zuguthians, Novans, and Hexalani.Iv121 wrote:In our case they are one and the same, simply because the only other humans are NeoRome whom Ill let to decide how to join all that stuff on their own.
And also, terran can mean anything from Earth, not just humans, seeing as it most likely came out of the term Terra, meaning Earth.

Re: Poll, Lore Reset
Again, Iv, you're making 3 mistakes here. One is that humans are some deux ex species that can adapt to steal all this shit. They are slaves, living property of the Strigiforme. They are separated mostly, the only large enough groupings being on trade ships. They might know calculus, but the inner workings of Strigiforme ships are way beyond them.
Secondly, you're making the "humans are special" trope come alive. It's coming across like you are saying that the Strigiforme can't be as crafty and adaptive.
Thirdly, you ignore that the Strigiforme are ultra paranoid all the time
As for why I complain, you're essentially saying somehow, humanity has an entire fleet, when they don't even have a single world. My explanation is that they hijacked a slave ship and crashed it into a habitable planet, where they built up. This would ensue that the Strigiforme losing territory actually makes sense.
