Yeah, actually in IRL it would be nearly impossible to shot plasma, even if in a flamethrower it would kill the user. But we should ignore this of course, because if you always followed STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) no game would be fun!
Re: FC content pack flan's [THREADNAUGHT]
Its a perfectly possible concept. Plasma is subject to the lorentz force, so use something similar to a railgun to cause the plasma to move in a direction away from the user, then manipulate it using a series of magnetic fields. Or use something more like a magnetoplasma engine to squeeze ions through a field envelope.
The spikes on the front are supposed to be something like a heat shield.
And the hand things have two thumb holes because I wanted to draw a feles weapon.

Re: FC content pack flan's [THREADNAUGHT]
How about using laser induced plasma channels? That could work, you just widen the beam?

I've also drawn up designs for the rail weapons:

Re: FC content pack flan's [THREADNAUGHT]
I see you made a bullpup.
Do note that the bullpup configuration made the barrel of your standard rifle as long as the barrel of the sniper.
Exactly as long actually.
For reference, this is a bullpup sniper
I'll be honest, from what I can tell, you made two snipers.
The main advantage of bullpup is that you can make them shorter (and therefore more mobile) than conventional rifles.
Making a bullpup as long as a normal rifle makes it a sniper.

Solution: Remove the sniper and make the rifle multipurpose.

@Daynel has been done
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StG_77#Modularity
The barrel can be switched out, allowing for the very same weapon to be used in compact, carbine, rifle os LMG configuration where carbine and rifle configuration are able to utilize barrel-mounted grenade launchers and rifle configuaration can also have a bayonet attached. Basically the mother of all modularity.

Re: FC content pack flan's [THREADNAUGHT]
Sniper has more coils, your argument is invalid.
Barrel length isn't the thing here, it's sheer power, the rifle has less capacitors and less coils, so fires faster but with less power, the sniper has more capacitors and more coils, so fires with more power, but takes longer to recharge the capacitors.
That and none of that is to scale anyway.
And if you are wondering why the MG has so many capacitors, it charges each set alternatively to achieve a higher rate of fire.

They look more like coil guns than rail guns. Theyre also kind of boring, honestly.

Well, proto mentioned stuff about coils.catsonmeth wrote:They look more like coil guns than rail guns. Theyre also kind of boring, honestly.
Barrel lenght, however, does have effects on accuracy with all projectile weapons.
And if it's supposed to be a coilgun, it should be labeled as such.
For railguns, the barrel lenght is actually a valid factor in terms of range and firepower.

I know I've said this before, but as they stand, they look like archetypal guns with some extra rectangles on them. The pistol has a little bit of originality but it could use some improvement. If they're railguns, then it should show in the design, and if they're coilguns, then that should be a larger part of the design. I'd try a few with PS but I've been on my feet all day and my back is aching because apparently I've aged eighty years in the past 24 hours, so you might get one or two more shitty mobile uploads instead.
Seriously though, look at the Resistance weapons wiki, the designs are really fantastic. http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Resist ... an_Weapons

@tiel: Resistance: fall of man, one of the best games I've played for PS3. Sequels weren't as good though.
@proto: why what's wrong with that?
