Star conflict has a similar tech tree to WoT from what I know except paying to skip the tiers is a really bad idea. Even paying to have a ship in your own tier does sod all, as they are no better. IMO star conflict has more diverse roles to play as, but you don't really get into them until you hit T2, however I can get you into T3-5 PvE games to get some easy money when you first start, a loss there is still worth more than a win in T1.

Also space, we are called futurecraft after all.

And for gods sake do not go Empire LRF, those are the reason I lose a lot (however the engineer frigates you unlock after them are amazing)

I can give people advice if they want to start, I have decent knowledge of the lower-mid tiers.

People who call Planetside 2 pay-to-win are mostly idiots. I've never felt like I was having to grind to get anything; even thousand-cert weapons take at most two or three weeks (of playing only on the weekends) to get, and that's without any kind of boosts or double-experience weekends or anything. Certs come slowly when you're new to the game and can't kill anything, but once you're past the soul-crushing new player experience it's not a problem unless you're trying to totally max-out a vehicle from scratch or something.

Looking at the high tier weapons in PS2, my reaction is meh. I like the default NC1 rifle the medics get, it packs a nice punch with decent range. Why get a reeeeeaaaaallllyyyy expensive gun when I can cert a basic one?

Also, Iv, most games require you to get to a middle or high level to even have a chance of competing. I'll use BSGO as an example; I'm level 25, and can outrun and outfly a fair few bad gus, but when some level 30 arrives, I should at least be able to damage him a bit. But no, I don't pay real money, ergo I get wasted.

If EVERYONE grinds up to progress, cool. If you can flat-out buy superior stuff, that's bloody unfair. And before anyone comments, the whole idea of PvP games if fairness and balance.

Star Conflict sounds kinda cool to me, I'll set it up and see how it goes. Is there a clans, guilds, whatevers system?

There's a corporation system but IDK how it works, that's about the only bit you need to pay for.

You can form squads though, so you can group up and go into a fight.

Add PrototypeTheta if you get on, I'll try and be on later.

The only thing you pretty much have to buy is an SMG for your Infiltrator if you're going that path. You can get by with the full-auto scout rifle for only 250, but the thousand-cert SMG is the only weapon that I know of that's really a game-changer. The hundred-cert bolt-action snipers for TR and VS are, too, but a hundred certs is pocket change to anyone but the very newest players. The hundred-cert anti-infantry MAX arm makes a world of difference, too, but again, pocket change.

You will never play in a game with a tier more than 2 above you, meaning grind is meaningless. Want to be the biggest tier in your game all the time ? Grind won't save you here either, its true a T7 tanks is the max tier in 5-7 tier match, but just as you can be in a tier 5-7 game you can end up in a 7-9 one, in most tiers you will find some use for yourself.

Its true that unlike in a tier 7 game (where you are basically the lead tank and you assault the enemy head on) , in tier 9 one you are not in the spotlight and if you will try to be in the spotlight you will get grilled. Instead you follow your lead tanks and flank, support them, yes sometimes you wont pen the tier 9 tanks, well then its a good idea to fall back and not to engage tanks you cannot take on and instead look for tiers 7-8 that are also in there (there are usually 3-4/15 tanks that are max tier in a game), after all without those lower tier tanks you will never be able to feel powerful in your tier and the differences between the tanks' cannons and armor will be meaningless.

You could ofc reach tier 10 and always be the max tier but in there as I figured (never got to play there so far) it doesn't matter as much if you are tier 9 or 10, they are quite close specs-wise meaning you will still not be as powerful as a T7 tanks in a T7 battle. In T7 battles with my T29 I really feel the power of this tank as I see shells literally bouncing off my armor, Im still not invulnerable though as apart from other tier 7 tanks and tanks destroyers who can pen me I can also get flanked by other tanks if my support tanks (which are lower tiers) fail to hold off the lines or I can be hit by SPGs who can be lethal for any tank at any level if they get a clear shot at you.

Icelandic Perehelion wrote:Don't jump, leap, and dive to conclusions, Shadow. I suggest PS2 because it's surprisingly good about not being epically pay to win, which most F2P games are. From what I know of WoT, it's a ridiculously long grind, or pay up. Which doesn't appeal to me.

PS2 has payment elements, yeah, but I can decap someone with the basic weapons just as easily as with the high end ones. So the difference is muted. Wallet Warriors may keep games alive, but they're still annoying as fuck.
Now where did I jump to conclusions error? I know that a few of us don't have good computers and a few in this community is a lot. And from what you say, You appear to have never even played WoT so don't shoot down what you don't know about yet.
Like Iv said, you will never be fighting someone you can't cause some amount of damage to so 'Pay 2 Win' isn't really relevant since all it gives you is more powerful shells to fire.

WoT is a nice quiet game that a small group of people can work together to change the match since there's only like 15 slots on each team a group of seven is very effective if they work together. In planetside it's very easy to get split up or incredibly outmatched and there's not really any bragging rights or cool stories to go about with and no real visible progression short of suit upgrades or vehicle guns.

I once escaped an enemy Magrider by ducking underneath the tank while it was hunting for me. That's a pretty cool story.

Apparently you've not played PS2. And I've not played WoT. So we are even.

PS2 has lots of progression. Class specializations, equipment, vehicles, weapons, suits, certifications for every bit of whatever your classes carry, and such.
Bragging rights? Tons. "We went and captured 2 bases with a squad of 7" can escalate to play by play stories, ad many PS1 a d 2 veterans have the old illness called War Stories Syndrome.
And if I stop talking about WoT, can you stop talking about PS2? 'Cause either you didn't look into certs and progression, or haven't played it.

Once I played cat and mouse with a Prowler for an hour flat, then rocketed it. So that's a story.

I killed like 100 people in half an hour once, held off a little outpost by myself against a trickle of enemies.
