The Imperial Fleets in the NeoRoman capital system were like vultures anticipating a kill. The called the Emperor's Will and it's supporting fleet to come and join in. Simultaneously, they started firing Exterminator missiles at the NeoRoman planets with shields, and the transports disgorged their marine complements. Soon, pitched battles were being fought on nearly every planet and moon in the system. The other fleets, having completed their smash & burn objectives, warped to intercept the Novan fleet encroaching in Imperial space. These fleets were the 2nd, 3rd, and 7th Fleets. The dreadnoughts in these fleets are the Spirit of Vengeance, Iron Hammer, Bushwhacker, and Devastator. When they dropped out of warp, they took the Novans completely by surprise, as they were attacking from the rear, relatively speaking. The dreadnoughts opened fire with every weapon that they had, along with the rest of the numerous Nike battlecruisers, Invictus destroyers, and Hermes frigates. The carriers launched all fighters, and the marines prepared to be launched into the void of space in their boarding pods. The Exterminator missiles were somewhat blunted by the Novan shields, but being missiles, and by the sheer volume of them, they overcame the shields on numerous ships and took their toll. The battle for Sector Foxtrot-Delta 1 had begun in earnest.
Cyrania III
Imperator Tallaeya was having a grand time. His fleets were doing exactly as he and his war council had planned. He wasn't naive, however. He knew that the tables could turn instantly if he let his guard down. There was also the irritating Darkstar saboteurs that had cropped up recently. They had the Imperial Guard running all over the place, but they couldn't run forever. Already, 4 teams had been neutralized.
//FLEET STATUSES//
1st Fleet: Warping to NeoRome with Emperor's Will
2nd Fleet: Engaging Novan Fleet in Sector Foxtrot-Delta 1
3rd Fleet: Engaging Novan Fleet in Sector Foxtrot-Delta 1
Home Fleet: Guarding Cyrania System
5th Fleet: Guarding the Wispar System
6th Fleet: 80% Casulties: returning to Cyrania II from Novan space for repairs and refits.
7th Fleet: Engaging Novan Fleet in Sector Foxtrot-Delta 1
8th Fleet: Guarding the Anstrilia System.
9th Fleet: 30% Casulties: Returning to Cyrania II from Novan space for refits.
OOC: Confederation/Imperial, mainly Imperial, ships are extremely good at pitched battles. They have strong shields and armor, and the Imperials have made extremely large leaps in weapons technology. Imperial Fleets have 1 or 2 dreadnoughts (the only fleet with no dreadnought is the 6th fleet), a few carriers, numerous battlecruisers, even more destroyers, and huge amounts of expendable frigates. the dreadnoughts, battlecruisers, and carriers go for quality over quantity, and vice versa for destroyers and frigates. Fleets can also be divided into 6 battlegroups for smaller-scale operations.
EDIT: The Imperial Guard is sort of like the system-wide ground and close-to-planet defense force of Imperial star systems.

Re: Faction infos and propogandas.
Caught off guard, a number of ships went dark before Distant Memory decided to demonstrate her power. Bringing 3 of the hypervelocity guns to bear, the first salvo led a massive barrage of HE and missiles towards the Imperium vessels. The 3 shells leading punched through a cruiser, tearing the hull apart before the sheer energy of the impact blew it apart.
With more missiles inbound, the frigates on the edges of the fleet opened fire with flak batteries, filling space with shrapnel and explosions. The rest of the battlegroup turned their chainguns towadds the incoming boarding pods, blazing away. Aboard the ships, marine teams armed up, and the 10th Infantry aboard the flagship prepared to fight off the enemy.
Fighters and interceptors launched, heading out towarss the enemy.
Admiral Hermes, aboard the lead vessel, grinned. First mistake. He ordered the guns to keep firing, but allow a few boarders through.

Re: Faction infos and propogandas.
Aboard the dreadnought Spirit of Vengeance, Admiral Teknem grimaced at the Distant Memory. He told his comms officer to relay a message to all of the dreadnoughts in the task force.
//MESSAGE FROM TASK FORCE COMMANDER TEKNEM//
ALL DREADNOUGHTS CONCENTRATE FIRE ON THAT SUPER-SHIP. YOU HAVE AUTHORITY TO USE EVERY WEAPON THAT YOU POSSESS, INCLUDING THE HADES ARROW
//END MESSAGE//
OOC: Icelandic, you have 4 dreadnoughts firing at you with Exterminator weapons, hyper-lasers, turbo lasers, TITANs (basically huge MACs), railguns, and fleet-killer weapons (the HADES ARROW).

Re: Faction infos and propogandas.
The ship was blasted by a wall kf weapons fire. The shields dropped, came up, and dropped again. As lasers started to chew on the hull, the battleship Centurion slotted itself in front of her, taking some of the fire.
Now royally P.O.ed, Admiral Hermes ordered a full offensive. The flagship aligned itself, picked out the enemy fleet's nearest dreadnought, and proceeded to blitz it with the 5 remaining mass drivers. The fighter groups closed in, and several cruisers parked themselves between their flagship and the enemy fleet as Memory's jump drives charged. Several frigates cut loose with their cruise missiles, and a pair of cruisers executed a precisoin jump into the center of the enemy fleet, blazing away freely.
OOC, I'm in the system where the Remnant was supposed to be hiding out, are they wimping or did they leave earlier?

OOC: ?. I thought that you were blitzing toward the heart of the Imperium. At any rate, the Remnants went dark as soon as the Imperial fleet arrived to avoid detection. They only have 8 ships anyway.
BIC:
Admiral Teknem threw up his hands in irritation. "They're running away!" he yelled. "I want all the ships in the task force to cease fire on every target and concentrate every watt, shell, and missile in their weapons on that super-ship. MAKE IT SO!"
ORION REMNANTS
Senator Yiet was watching the the battle from Saber-Delta. He watched in horror as every Imperial ship started firing at the Distant Memory. He decided that there was only one thing to do. He picked up his comms device and made a call.
//30 SECONDS LATER//
The 8 ships in the Remants "fleet", led by Captain Volark in his Nike battlecruiser Indomitable jumped in behind the Imperial fleet with the 1 other Nike cruiser, 2 Invictus destroyers, and 4 Hermes frigates. They started firing at the Imperials, knowing that they had just gone on a suicide mission.

Re: Faction infos and propogandas.
The weapons fire blasted the sublight engines apart, shredded a ton of armor and weaponry, and blew apart the portside hangar, but as soon as the drive charged, Memory jumped. However, the remainder of the fleet wanted a Word with the Imperium. They closed, running into the fight.
Spotting the Confederation ships, a pair of cruisers broke off and moved into formation with them, giving them flak cover.
OOC, DM is not out of action for a few months minimum, and the rest of the fleet of now Royally tick Off at the Imperium for this, so they're gettin' close enough to touch. The idea being that firing Exterminators is going to be friendly fire, plus, even their wee bitty guns hit at that range. It'll be a meatgrinder, though.

Re: Faction infos and propogandas.
In face of the recent coup transforming the Orion Confederacy into the Orion Imperium, MQR armed forces have been raised to DEFCON-3, resulting in all military vessels being held in a combat-ready state at all times and planetary defenses being brought online.
The QR has also announced having prepared to assemble a space station in the Andromeda-galaxy. The target system will lack any planet with breathable atmosphere, but a ferrous planet is being set as a planned site for a mostly robot-staffed mining colony. The station will feature a long-range psionic sensor array that is meant to search for new sentient life as well as monitor the area surrounding the Long Reach system and its jumpgate.
As for research, the MQR has decided to recontinue the 'star post' project that dealt with dimensional tunneling and originally was meant to serve as a way of accessing pocket universes. Current plans feature it as a means of developing an intergalactic jumpgate to decrease dependency on the NC for access to Andromeda for the EC and possibly later for general civilian traffic.

Re: Faction infos and propogandas.
As soon as the DM jumped, all the ships in the Imperial task force realized that they couldn't fire their Exterminator missiles. So they transferred all power to their energy and kinetic weapons and shields. The crews were shoveling spent casings away from the railguns and chainguns so that they could keep firing. Energy weapons were overcharged and fired over and over again. The missile racks ran out of missiles. It was a ship-rending, crew-bloodbath for the Novans. Only about 10% of their force survived. They had dished out some, as well. The 3rd Fleet was at 90% casulties, and its dreadnought, The Iron Hammer, had a quarter of its starboard bow blown off and a gaping hole in it's superstructure. It was a victory for the Imperium, but they had paid their dues. The 3 Imperial Fleets warped to the Wispar II naval base for repairs, refits, and replacements.
The 9th and 6th Fleets have completed refits and replacements and are back in action. They are staying close to home for now, however.
//IMPERIAL NEWS SERVICE BROADCAST//
Victory is ours! The might of the Imperium has crushed the Novan terror in Sector Foxtrot-Delta 1. The Imperator is awarding the fleets that participated in this battle the Imperial Gallantry Medallion. There have also been victories against NeoRome. Our brave marines and spacemen have pushed them off moons and planets, and our fleets are bombarding their worlds as we speak. Already, we have occupied worlds which used to belong to NeoRome, and we will occupy more.
//END BROADCAST//
Imperator Tellaeya was considering ending the war. It wasn't that he wasn't pleased; on the contrary, he was extremely happy. However, he thought that he should end it and keep the occupied worlds. That had been his intention anyway, expansion. He would have to think more on it.

The communications panel chirped a most urgent tone. Priority 1 communique from Central Command. Admiral Heltransj read it quickly.
"Stand by for reinforcement."
OOC: All available fleets have been dispatched, 37 fleets, 1073 battle clusters, approximately 21460 ships. Five fleets remain to protect the homeland, five are already present, and 3 are with the NeoRomans. Arrival estimated to be in two hours.

OOC: First off, yes, that is. But, the individual ships can't take sustained fire at all, the entire army being cannon fodder, IE my expectation of approximately no survivors, especially so being able to go down near instantaneously from your 'normal' weapons.DeadlyMiddie wrote:OOC: Just wondering, where dis those 21500 ships come from? -Message to NeoRome-
"I am creating a "safehouse" in your territory with some fleets. I will do what i can to stop their advance"
The fleets around NeoRome are being put to relief the efforts with fast repairs on NeoRoman ships. THe artillery frigates are making a "artillery field" limiting the area where enemy ships can travel,at least giving some relief to the civillian population.
---------
Darkstar fleets are pushing deeper and deeper inside IMperium territory. With SPECTRE teams now being neutralized,the people itself is going to "war" with riots,supplied weapons by Darkstar. Mass anarchy,desorder,and stealth fleets popping in and out of the IMperium territory,slowly but steadily weakening the "homeguard".
---------
Wispar. A beautiful target for hit-run,blitzkrieg attacks,even better now were crippled fleets were under repair. small skirmishes were up by Darkstar forces,aways appearing and vanishing in minutes. Just the necessary time to deliver several volleys of rockets,missiles and long-range artillery attacks,before engaging a heavy dark-matter field blurring all incoming attacks,and vanishing soon after that.
Small forces just to annoy and cripple the fleet that was going to repairs [3 small flootilas of]
23 Scarlet frigates
7 FIrestorm frigates
3 Wolfhound carriers
several Nainigata corvettes [Anti-capital]
2 Everest cruisers

Re: Faction infos and propogandas.
When the first Darkstar fleets warped into the Wispar System, they thought that they had arrived in hell. They had jumped right on top of the largest naval base in the sector, and they were going to pay. Nuclear mines exploded in their faces, automated hyper-laser defenses chewed through armor and shields, and the patrolling Warthog fighter-bombers swooped toward the ships. The 8th Fleet, stationed nearby, jumped to the action as well. They fired their hyper-lasers, railguns, and TITANs, but not the Exterminator missiles. They were to close to the base for that.
OOC: Wispar II, to use Vinyl's phrase, is 1 of the 2 "Reaches" of the Imperium; the other being Cyrania II. It is also like the Imperium's Norfolk, Virginia (the largest naval base in the USA, and in the world).

Re: Faction infos and propogandas.
At first,the stealth came in handy. The Darkstar ships were fast,and outmanuevered any bigger ship. BUT Firepower still counts. The CBT [Cyclonic barrier tech] protected then for awhile,sending away projectiles and energy weapons. But they were too many for a small fleet of frigates like that.DeadlyMiddie wrote:When the first Darkstar fleets warped into the Wispar System, they thought that they had arrived in hell. "Activate NEEDLE,NOW!"
A last resource was used in the bloody battle : the NEDDLE was activated. A strange looking ship arrived within the mess of the battle,creating a big shield made of dark matter,converting the stealth fields in a almost inexpugnable shield,giving the time to the ships to accelerate away from the destruction. After the surviving ships went out of the battle,the NEDDLE launched the dark matter used in a shockwave manner,creating fast fold distortions,making the jump calculations to possible folowing fleets a pain.
-Remaining forces-
"DarkCom,we lost almost all ships.."
"That was expected. How the needle performed?"
"Very well,sir. We can extend the capabilities of the NEEDLE in manipulating dark matter itself to attack,defend,and many other things!"
"Thats good. Reatreat for now with the remaining ships".
Ships lost: 22 Scarlet frigates
6 Firestorm frigates
all corvettes
2 Wolfhound carriers
All cruisers.

Re: Faction infos and propogandas.
After the shields had been taken down, the NeoRoman fleets were finally able to hold their own. Their weaponry vastly outranged most of the Imperium weapons, save for the exterminator missiles that had plagued them so.
The 3rd Defense Fleet was currently in stationary orbit at the NeoRoman shipyard above the capital, firing every long-range weapon they had at the Imperium ships that approached. Rarely did the Imperium ships get within firing range, and the shipyard was one of the few corridors to the NeoRoman capital.
At the same time, the planetary defenses of each sieged planet had finally come online. Lasers and plasma turrets lining the cities and installations on every sieged world. While the battles raged on the surface between the Imperium and NeoRome, the defenses were able to pluck ships out of the sky.
Several NeoRoman ships earlier had daringly disabled an relatively small Imperium ship and taken it to the main research hub in Dalaran, and quickly discovered the method the Exterminator missiles worked, and why they were destroying our ships so fast.
Eezo cores caused a massive power influx upon detonation. While normally handled by our shields, as they are designed to absorb energy to strengthen itself, this influx overwhelms the shield capacity and spreads the influx directly through the power grid, overwhelming every system. And they came up with a solution that every ship could follow. This was implemented without issues in every fleet after the communication was received, and one by one, every ship brought back their shields.
The 5th fleet and the 6th fleet are en-route to NeoRome, headed by the super-dreadnought Aurora IV, to combat the incoming first fleet.
The 7th and 8th Battle Fleets are being activated early and sent into battle. These fleets were undergoing retrofits as they were out of date, but they are still potent. They have been outfitted with the shield fix and sent to Jolfix and Bladuran respectively. They are each headed by the dreadnoughts Minios and Vorkrux.
