A plan.
Is it okay if I start a new thread to kick all of this off with polls and stuff?
Re: A plan.
1. Choose a game, get going I gave you some suggestions, you think you can start a social gaming community without one ? You can try. Really Im the last on earth you can blame in not having a plan, I always got one and a detailed one, I don’t get why you both are so insistent in proving the opposite, its a waste of time you know well that I do have those steps ready.

Re: A plan.
Ok, say we go with minecraft, Gmod, TF2, star conflict, starbound and crossfire (like combat arms). With the exception of Gmod these we can all use (cracked is a thing)
Now what?
Now what?

Well proto lets start from choosing ONE game out of the lsit because you are not capable of supporting multiple game campaigns at once.

I do have to agree with Iv on this, once we get it set up then we can branch out.Iv121 wrote:Well proto lets start from choosing ONE game out of the lsit because you are not capable of supporting multiple game campaigns at once.
Re: A plan.
Also as far as I know Proto was trying to arrange money coverage for the forum with Tau from the Flan pack founds.

Re: A plan.
Tau hasn't spoken to me about that yet...
PM being sent now.
As for a game, why not star conflict? I would suggest mine craft but not many people seem to agree there. That and it's simple to ddo and F2P but not broken by premium.

No, because chances are you're going to miss something, and there's not really a point in branching this into another thread when discussion is warranted.Tell wrote:Is it okay if I start a new thread to kick all of this off with polls and stuff?
One of the reasons I made the new forum in the first place was to move the community away from terribad 'free website!' services like enjiin and forumotion who plaster their ads everywhere and can pull the plug at any moment. Not to mention look pretty awful and unprofessional as well. The site is fine, Tau just blew all his cash on some radio that would have otherwise gone toward keeping the it 'on air', as it were. This might be a little hard to understand, actually - let me explain.Tell wrote:When is the forum expiring?
edit: If its very soon we can make a free enjin site.
Basically, I made the forum and hosted it. I then 'took it down', as it were (just moved the directory containing the files to another folder, confusing the DNS resolution). Later on Tau and a few others wanted to revitalize the place so I handed them over, again believing that they'd be put to better use here than on some dusty corner of my webserver. So right now Tau is renting, or was renting, a VPS keeping the site accessible to end users. That's what's going to expire next month. I still have a webhost good for another year, so the option of just resuming hosting it there is always an option, though the alternative is starting some fundraiser for webspace fees.

Re: A plan.
Well in theory we do have the money, if Proto runs dry Im ready to cheap in so long it goes for the forum maintenance.

Re: A plan.
Here's the thing. I know next-to-nothing about webhosting. I've tried setting up the forum with a couple of email providers, but nothing has worked. And I don't know any PHP to try and get it working again. If anyone competent wants sysadmin privileges, I'm all ears.
As for the second point, yeah. Can't really argue against that.
I'm talking with Proto about transferring some funds from adf.ly to DigitalOcean. If we can get that done and fix the email system, we should be good for the time being.

Re: A plan.
@the gaming thing, I'd say Star Conflict, Minecraft, or some multiplayer game with a clan functionality, preferably f2p or fairly cheap subscription.

Re: A plan.
It's a way to get new members, we're not going to be able to lure people here and expect them to be active, community-driven members. Gaming is a shitty cement to hold a community like this together.Iv121 wrote:New members from Flans ? See man ppl stay in the community for a reason, how many ppl do you think will stay here to see Flan's mod developing ? Especially considering its a mere 1 thread (even if you make a whole forum for it and break it into 1000 pieces it will still be a content of one thread), that’s just not happening. There are no shortcuts and no "Well sit here and someone's gonna do all the job for us" stuff, Proto can make the pack Frost can make the mod but ultimately that kind of thing won't attract new ppl for long and before long you will find yourself at the same place again.
Also you can market a gaming community, you just invite ppl to join, believe me over time you will get members, its not an easy process but there are no easy roads here. As for Flan's server you can market it but it won't mean you will get community members as a result.

Re: A plan.
Slight problem: I can't change the PayPal account attached to our DigitalOcean account. If I want to add funds, they'd have to come from TinkerPox's dad's PayPal, which is no. Also, can't use funds from Proto's adf.ly. Tiel or Fr0st's webhosting is starting to sound slightly more attractive.

Re: A plan.
I really think we should stick with minecraft. But the problem is what would we do with it? Setting up a server just for us hasn't worked before and y'all don't want to make a public one. (Although I still think we should do it.)
As for funding problem I really don't know whats going on. Do we need more money or do we need another Admin? If its admin then that's where recruiting comes in...
