I actually remember comps in the era when they got a maze screensaver, proud to tell that I didnt get a single virus back in these days ... I had no internet,
though the programs that existed in that time were no less volatile than a virus :P .

I had a Windows 98 without internet access until I got my laptop in 7th grade. That maze screensaver was awesome.Iv121 wrote:I actually remember comps in the era when they got a maze screensaver, proud to tell that I didnt get a single virus back in these days ... I had no internet,

Yez. Maze screensaver FTW. Also I didn't catch a single virus either.
Can you imagine you could buy pirated games in the store back in the day?

Well those who pirated games at that time usually didn’t have internet (too expensive), it was reasonable to buy the program at a cheaper price in a pirate store, especially in Eastern Europe and Russia. Even now software doesn't always come cheap, back at these times the prices were ridiculously high, simply because they were the same as in the US in the rest of the world, too. The result of that was that people who wanted to use the comp simply had no choice but to steal the programs, nobody will put 1/5 of their avg salary on a freaking windows, the result is that a pirating subculture was born.

Re: AUTHENTIC 2002 EXPERIENCE
Well, actually, my parents once bought me a game collection back in the day and later I found out they had simply ripped them off the internet, where they were free, but actually, some of the games used copyrighted material (e.g. Sonic the Hedgehog) without having the rights, so it must not be sold for money EVAR, and when you start the game it even says 'this game should not be sold'. Still, it was part of a game collection that was for sale in a pretty normal store.
