Attack On Titan, FMA, Cowboy Bebop, and other anime topics
General discussion on the topic of all things anime.
I've watched Cowboy Bebop, most of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Attack on Titan, read most of Katawa Shoujo, and recently started Samurai Champloo.

I watched a few episodes of an anime (I think) when I was younger, it was pretty good. I'll see if I can remember the name..

It is interesting to see Anime though not as some animation but as a mirror on their culture, what do they think on different themes, what do they find interesting, what kind of s***storm they got with their religion (They have no idea what they are as it seems). Guess I get double out of everything I'll watch , enjoying the anime itself and theorising about what is going on behind the scenes (Much more interesting than opening the wiki !). Personally I like either sci-fi which they don't have nearly as much of , or adventures of diff sorts that let you explore well-made worlds (There are a lot of those, but rarely do they have a world worth exploring) , so you can say that while watching one I explore within exploring ! (Teh japs are something ...)

Found the anime, "Secret of the Cerulean Sand", but I can't find a torrent/download for it.
Cowboy Bebop seems interesting, but the series is 18 GB so..

You know you don't have to DL them ? You can find most of them on the net easily, for example a quick google search yelled me Cowboy Bebop on several sites.

Re: Attack On Titan, FMA, Cowboy Bebop, and other anime topi
The best analogy I've seen for it is that anime culture in Japan is more or less the same niche as comic book culture in the west. It is accepted as a thing, but the general public is only familiar with the mainstream kids stuff; your Dragonballs and Ghibli films and whatnot.
What I like about the medium is that there is always new stuff coming out, year round, and that studios are more willing to play with science fiction and fantasy storylines. There's a fair amount of trash, and overly formulaic shows every season, as well, but I strongly believe that the innovative and high-quality shows make up for it, and usually get the recognition they deserve. Not always, though. Cowboy Bebop, for instance, was never a hit in Japan despite being considered a timeless classic in the West. Stupid Japanese...
Regarding IVs comment on religion, Japan is primarily Buddhist, but they'll also celebrate Christmas (which let's face it, has been a commercial event for ages). Also, Shintoism is practiced by nearly everyone, but it is a curious case where you aren't expected to be an adherent, except for the clergy. You can think of it as more of a cultural tradition than an observed religion.

That is what makes the cultural difference all that flashed out ! Interesting stuff isn't it ? Another interesting fact is that I really didn’t like those Dragonballs and Pokemons from my very childhood . I was a ... weird kid lets say
.

Dragonball and Pokemon were objectively crappy low-quality shows, even for their respective time periods. You don't have to be ashamed about not liking them.
Re: Attack On Titan, FMA, Cowboy Bebop, and other anime topi
Well considering they got every single kid apart from me glued to the TV it is kinda weird of me ...

Well I can't watch anime at school, AKA the only place where I have decent internet, and I don't have unlimited bandwidth or high speed at home.Iv121 wrote:You know you don't have to DL them ?
