The Mobius Strip, you uncultured swine, as in Agustus Ferdinand Mobius.

Don't tell anybody, but to this day I have a faint hope for Futurecraft, or something similar to it, to happen. Within my lifetime.

I know about the Mobius strip, actually the symbol for infinite shows a simplified mobius strip.
I just was unable to get how it would be placed on the other end of a scale with time lords.
Also you may admit that lots of pop culture has borrowed the term 'Mobius' for various stuff.

The infinity symbol was introduced in 1655 and the Mobius strip was discovered in 1858.

Really?

Well, it's not showing one then.

Still looks similar.

Well, this has turned into a politics thread. Wonderful!
I'm a monarchist-distributist, which basically means I like constitutional monarchies(that's basically what the US is, albeit the king can be elected and doesn't do anything) and keeping things as local(and usually small, although that's incidental) as possible. It's like a weird blend of socialism, capitalism, and a bunch of other weird stuff yet is opposed to all of it.

Also, I used to be this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falangism

And while I was still here I was basically this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwR3e2iq9EI

Distributism seems like one of the things to me which you can't really maintain in a modern society.
I prefer Social Liberalism ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_liberalism ) because it actually can and is being applied.

It is, though. There's the Mondragon Corporation in the Basque country and my own little backyard micronation thing that is slowly becoming self sufficient in terms of food. Also, the two biggest flaws I see in Social Lib. is 1) Separation of church and state doesn't work depending on how you look at it, it's pretty much impossible to derive objective morals without philosophy/religion. If you try, they eventually get distorted and half-way changed and you end up with the modern US. b) Capitalism, as I see it, only works when everyone has a large amount of children, and nothing short of an invasive social policy, or a strict religious system(which doesn't exist because #1) can assure that. Other than that, when you come down to it, Capitalism basically runs on greed.

The main point in social liberalism (we do have that in Austria and I think in most other countries in the EU too and it works just fine) is that the actions of companies are restricted to create a fair working environment, so no matter how greedy the companies are, they can't exploit people (nor the environment for that matter- at least not excessively)
A common example for that in Austria would be a law stating that trade union (which is centralized for all of Austria) and employer representatives have to come together once a year to decide on the 'Kollektivvertrag' (collective act) of a respective occupational group which includes minimum wages and work conditions, ensuring people don't get exploited.
And it works without religion, because people know they benefit from the values and don't want to change their system as a result.
In fact, AFAIK, we are better at seperating church and state than the US. I mean, the US president even does his inaugurative oath with one hand on the bible.
Also, could you please elaborate why capitalism requires high birth rates? Cuz we have so much working social liberalism here that I am not entirely familiar with capitalism the way it is done in the US.
And about distributism... what you are giving is small-scale examples, I meant it wouldn't work on a large scale, like economic politics. I do agree though, that it is a good idea for small-scale stuff, provided the interaction with other stuff that may be capitalist is not disrupted, because then you might just end up isolationist.

Well, the birth rates for Europe are, discounting immigrants, all around 1.3 children/women. Other than the dissapearance of Europeans themselves, this creates problems with capitalism because basic economic theory is centered around supply and demand. If people don't have children, you have a system where people are making things that lots of people only need one of, but the population is static so no one has a demand for those things, and supply(and therefore jobs) fall as well. I'm a big tired, I can explain it better later.
