Markus, who had (successfully) inserted a text file in the top-secret folder reading "improve your security", got up and wandered over to Derrick's lab with his pulse rifle. Let's see what the man can do with this.

Re: Corsair's Reverie
When Shane awoke from his nap, he felt like some more shooting range time. This time would be different though. He would choose a sabotage mission and bring his entire arsenal. Dumbfire rocket launcher strapped to his back along with his LMG, MG-XC-124 Pistol in it's holster, two tank mines, and a few blocks of C4 strapped to his belt. He began walking toward the VR shooting range.

Re: Corsair's Reverie
Finished sharpening the blades, Aleece loaded up her ammunition stores with hollow-point incendiary rounds. Done at the armory, she walked down the hall and to the hangar, intent on inspecting the troop delivery method.

back on topic:
shane scanned his weapons in the vr training center and chose the program "random urban".
all of a sudden, the room around him changed and became a city street. around him were skyscrapers filed with shops nd businesses. in front of him a hologram display showed all the options available for the program.
he said outloud what he wanted. "realism set to high, ai difficulty high, team of 5, enemy vehicles enabled."
five men with varying weapons types and armor types materialized around him. "mission type: sabotage. find and destroy two vehicle dropships." he heard the announcer explain the mission.
then it begun. "Karvosky watch our six."
"sir my motion tracker is picking up movement in the building to our right."
"roger that. everyone stay low. up against the wall. close range weapons everyone."
the ground shook. then again. and again.
"theres a mech coming around the corner up ahead. shane if it gets too close you know what to do."
"yes sir"
there they all were, pinned up against the wall of a building full of enemies as an enemy mech turned the corner. thats when a smoke grenade flew through one of the windows and out into the street. this was going to be fun.

Re: Corsair's Reverie
Derrick quickly checked the security net for the new robot after receiving Smoke's message. He also noticed Markus' note on a list of updated entries. He made a note to seal up the vulnerability he had installed earlier. Nothing too sensitive was there, but he had wanted to see the security system's strength.
//MESSAGE TO- Johanna Smoke//
The new robot appears to be in the hanger at the moment. Be aware of the cloaking system. It may be difficult to find her, if she doesn't wish to be found.
//END//
He then prepared to meet Markus. He opened a panel and took out the experimental Fusion Coil Splicer, set it on a table, and then took out a canister from a receptacle. It contained a very small fusion core, contained in a strong magnetic field. He placed it within another machine near the back of his lab, and then began running an entangling connection between it and the frozen core.

Johanna checked her timepiece as another of the recruits walked into the room. Looked like Shane. "Good work on the range. Do that tomorrow and it'll earn you a nice rep with the vets." He nodded and placed his weapons in the scanner. Smoke walked to the lift and descended to the hanger. She stepped out and rapped her metal knuckles on a panel of internal hull plating.
"Show yourself, droid." She called into the space. She switched her ocular prosthesis to a wider spectrum and saw a grey smudge behind a dropship docking clamp.
"That's an order."

Re: Corsair's Reverie
Aleece switched her photoreceptors to the visible spectrum of most species, a shade of bright green, then opened the one-way mirror lens used on the face plate. A bright green light shone from the top of the smudge which shifted to look at Johanna. The droid then slowly walked over, detaching the face plate as it walked. The bright red and white colors of the bare plating shone under the direct lighting of the 'bay's light fixtures. The droid stopped about four feet from Johanna and stood at attention.

Re: Corsair's Reverie
Jack was hiding in the shadows of the hanger watching Aleece and Smoke have a chat.
AI: Jack.
Jack: What AI? I'm watching something here.
AI: Markus is heading toward Derricks office with a loaded pulse gun.
Jack: What! Alright heading there now.
He moved out of the shadows ignored the looks he got and ran towards Derricks office loading his SMG.
"Stun rounds...Stun rounds...Ah! Stun Rounds." He said loading the mag into his gun.

Re: Corsair's Reverie
Markus, waiting outside Derrick's door, checked the modified rifle he had with him. Safety on, drained magazine..but if he was right, it would read as full.
Hell of a shock for the security team. He tapped on Derrick's door.

Re: Corsair's Reverie
Smoke examined the driod. Some wear from age, not too banged up, but the exterior wasn't what concerned her.
"You are... Aleece, correct?" Johanna asked, retrieving her datapad from a pocket.
"Yes." the sound emanated not from Aleece, but from Smoke's datapad.
"Are you battle-ready?"
"Yes."
"Why are you using this to speak?"
The droid tapped her jaw.
"Are you sure your... age won't impede your abilities?"
Aleece was silent.
"Hmm. Well come with me. We'll be using orbital insertion pods for descent. One deck down is the assault room. I have a private stash of unique weapons down there and a few targets if you feel like exercising your targeting systems."
Smoke turned away from Aleece and sent a new message..
<<NEW TRANSMISSION>
Approximately 24 hours until operation start. Get the last of your training done and get some sleep if you can. Infantry will be going in first in drop pods, just outside the southern shields. There are several AA turrets inside that vicinity that need to be neutralized before we send the cavalry and take the shield generators and mining facilities. I'll be dropping with the first wave of infantry.

Thomas had already slept, but he knew he would need more rest. So he took a sedative with a 23 hour knockout time.

Jack peeked around a corner, Markus was knocking on the door. Jack walked out from behind the corner.
"Freeze!"
Markus whipped around.
"I'm giving you to the count of 5 to put your hands behind your head and put your gun down and slide it over to me."

Re: Corsair's Reverie
Derrick swiped a console, opening the door for Markus. He took a look at the pulse rifle, noted that Markus was raising it, and swiped another console. A powerful matrix generator activated. It ripped the weapon out of Markus' hand and pinned it to the wall, a weapon remover. Scans indicated that it was not loaded. Short range ones, at least. Everything else said it was full. He chuckled at Markus' slightly surprised look. "Can never be too cautious," he said. He deactivated the generator and took the weapon, examining it. "Interesting. How did you get it to read as full when it's obviously empty?"
"Field mimicking," Markus replied, walking in and looking at the lab. "It resonates an electro-magnetic signature, unlike most devices, that sensors interpret as live ammunition."
"Clever." Derrick removed a few sections of the weapon and spread them out on a scanning table. "It appears to fail under short-range sensors. Is it a device or a full-conversion?"
"Device, mounted on the stock." Markus moved up to Derrick and pointed it out. "Relatively inconspicuous, but a detailed analysis would detect the difference."
"If we could make it appear full, couldn't we make it appear empty as well?" Derrick hooked the device up to a computer and began typing on commands. "We could even disguise weapons with it, make them appear to be, I don't know, bacon?" Markus laughed.
"Sure. 'Sir, why are you carrying several cases of bacon in non-approved containers?' That'll be a laugh." As he said it, another knocking at the door- a bit urgent.
"That'll be security I presume?" Markus nodded. "You fooled them. On that table over there is the prototype." he motioned over to the intimidating- looking mass of wires and metal. "While I deal with security, you figure it out. Surprise me." He walked to the door and turned back. "And no, it won't fire," he said, seeing the light in Markus' eye. He opened the door to see Jack, with a raised, armed, and fully loaded rifle.

"Umm...Derrick? You ok?"
"Yes Jack."
"But my AI said Markus had a loaded pulse rifle."
"Its not it just looks it is."
"Dammit. Tell him he gave me a heart attack and I almost arrested him for nothing."
"Ok Jack now leave."
"Fine, but don't scare me like that!"
Jack sped away hearing Smokes message.
