I suppose we'll start. Prototype, if I need you to GM for battles and the like, I'll inform you. Error the same. Otherwise, you can just watch for other troubles.

In the control room of the laboratory, several lights began to blink on and off. Several blood-red lights switched on, and began to pulse. The master control board was lit up by several area lights, and controls began adjusting themselves. Two levers on the right side slowly spooled to maximum. A pad of transparent aluminum buttons, labeled things like 'Modulator', 'Positronic Systems', and 'Dark Matter Matrix', began pressing down and changing the combination as required. Several dials on the left hand side, controlling frequency and energy, began turning, and tuned themselves into the appropriate values of 3.5 and 8.9. Right of the control panel was a large capacitor, black casing with a transparent, dialed glass slots in the middle. There were 6 of these, laid out in a symmetrical pattern in the hexagonal room. The bottom slot turned red and glowed. It slowly filled up, each slot turning red above it until the entire 8 meter tall structure was lit up. Each capacitor did this in sequence. At the top of each, a small panel slid out and a laser weapon unfolded. The central-spinning electromagnet, shielded within a faraday shield, began arcing with electricity. The grey barrel unfolded to reveal a small crystal. It fired a blood-red beam directly into the central matrix. The central shield, designed to absorb this, began wobbling as the reaction catalyzed inside.
After a few minutes of firing, the shield began to turn much darker. On the control panel, several switches pressed themselves, with the label 'Dark Matter Relay' on each of them. Several pillars emerged from the roof and floor, meeting in the center, 6 in all. What could only be called black electricity began arcing through them, going directly to the shield. After several minutes, they shut off. 6 Holo-projectors came online and began showing a large data display. The shield in the center collapsed, and black fog filled the room. Ventilation fans sucked it away, and finally revealed the contents of the shield. A black, hexagonal prism, about 5 meters in length and a meter thick, was hovering in the center. Small cracks in the casing showed, from which a pulsing red light shone out. The outer casing stopped in the center, revealing a small cylinder in the center. On the outside of one part of the cylinder was an eye. Mechanical, electronic, the round eye held a red dot, fading toward the edges. After cycling through several modes, the eye began to move, looking at its surroundings. It swiveled, and focused on the holo-screen data layout before it.
//>AI Core 113-7 Online
//>Evaluating Wave Function... Stable.
//>Evaluating Lifespan... Inconclusive. AI appears to be more stable than any existing quantum states.
//>Evaluating Casing... Inconclusive. Appears to be anti-entropic. AI is leeching ambient energy from the environment.
//>Evaluating Hardware... Complete. AI rivals NCSD Biomechs.
//>Evaluating Psychic Field... Inconclusive. Signature does not match Type-1 or Type-2 Psychic Fields.
//>Evaluation Complete. Result- Success.
The eye paused at this. It seemed surprised that this was an experiment, if not amused.
//>Beginning Personality Test...
The eye shut off for a second, then returned, this time with a blue eye. The light from the cracks was blue as well. It cycled again, this time to green. And again, to white. After going through countless colors, it cycled back to red. It looked around, slightly confused.

In the next room over, two scientists observed the process from a series of viewscreens. The elder one rubbed his chin and chuckled. "I didn't think it would work," he said.
"Why?" asked the younger. "Our data indicated we had a very good chance..."
"Then you misread the data." He moved over to a console and brought up the wave-function diagram. "Every time, the interactions between normal space and the phase-space it exists in destroyed the AI once created. We didn't modify any settings from the last attempt."
"Then what happened?"
"I believe we passed through a dark-matter flux field. Which allowed the function to exist long enough to solidify the casing." He opened another data readout, this time showing the current system. Their station was highlighted on the map. After typing a few commands, gravity and it's anomalies were shown. Indeed, they had passed through a flux-field created by the system's neutron star.
"So we've done it?"
"Yes." He walked over to another control panel. "The personality test shows that this core is very balanced, but focuses on reason and logic. It can experience a wide range of feelings and accurately compensate for them. It's personality appears, at default, to be benevolent but logical." He brought up a diagram. "If i'm not mistaken, each core-color corresponds to a different disposition. Red appears to be the default, while blue, for example, is cold and unfeeling, but logical."
"And what are we doing with it?" The elder scientist sighed.
"He's replacing Fenway." He walked over to a console and began inputting commands.
