The following morning, the group went to check out the nearby town.
"Ach, noo we're talkin'!" the pilot of mech 5 said upon spotting the bar.
"I'd like tae see ye stop me frae havin' a drink or two!"
"I agree, we should check it out" the leader said
"There's another mech parked outside, we better check if they are friendly or not."
"Sure thing, Sir, just gonna turn off the engine then" Juan responded. "This button, right?"
The very next moment a small cluster of missiles boosted off and exploded into a nearby mountain.

Re: The Periphery
Fenway engaged the support mechanisms as he began to exit the dropship. His communication system seemed to be nonfunctional, but he kept trying an override. A large support strut was between him and the exterior of the dropship. He engaged a plasma cannon and began melting through it. Once cut through, it collapsed. And another strut fell onto the Alastor. He shrugged it off, and the communication system came online with a click. Fenway engaged it in time to hear Karl speak.
"...probably got crushed by something. I don't think Alpha 4's coming out..." he said.
"What was that about me being dead?" Fenway asked. A brief pause on the other end.
"What have I told you Ash?" Karl replied, slightly exasperated. "Never interrupt me while i'm speaking like that! Get out here, it's good to see you're ok." Fenway soon reached the edge of the dropship. He stepped out, a bit relieved that most of the others made it. He didn't see Viper. But he had seen his mech inside. He didn't need to ask.
"Looks like you've got power problems," said Alpha 5.
"My reactor was fried," Fenway replied.
"And here's the problem." Alpha 5 reached over and ripped a power cable off of his mech. It was from the dropship, and it was wrapped around the right plasma cannon. "Don't play with electricity kids." Several chuckles followed this.
"Right." Fenway sighed and moved over to stabilize his mech against a rock. He needed to conserve power for the auto-repair functions.

OOC: Change your AC/20s to AC/5s and remove one of your LRM racks. What you have now is just really OP. Of course, you could just take the Centurion, which would work out too.Iv121 wrote:OOC: At cats I won't change my approved mech with superior capabilities and much better design () with that one.
Also if you didn’t read my passage I do look for some player interaction aka hire me.

Night, Black Sun's Breath recruiter, mechpilot (retired), sustained injuries in the Clan wars while employed by House Steiner.
Night heard the conversation from across the bar, from his booth. The bartender, Craig, he had known for a while, a recruiter for the Zuguthians. It's good that they had an agreement, a third of Night's recruits went to the Zugs, two thirds to BSB. That way, the split is about even. This one seemed like a keeper, though. Night slid to the edge of his seat and stood, stretching the artificial ligaments and tendons artificial leg, adjusting his ear. He limped over to the stool beside the woman and sat. Craig raised an eyebrow at him, he shook his head, craig shrugged and took a sterile rag from underneath the bar. The last few recruits had gone to the Zugs, Craig owed him one.
"I hear you're looking for employment. You don't want the Zuguthians, you'd start on the lowest paygrade, they don't need mechwarriors right now, probably sit you behind a desk." Rasped Night. "I'm with the Black Sun's Breath. And may I say that you, mam, have some balls to take a fully armed, privately owned battlemech out in public. Looks too new to be an heirloom, must've cost a fair amount of C Bills. You obviously don't need the money, just looking for some action?"

Blaze watched as twitch climbed up the back of his mech, entered the cockpit and as the mech powered up and rose to it's operating stance.
"Ash, I'd cut that autorepair, it'll take too long. You'll work alright for a few days, won't he, Twitch?" Said Karl
Twitch shrugged and nodded on the pilot monitor. "Dropship repair bay is fried, though." He said after he was finished bobbing his head.
"There's an airbase to the northwest, just a few hours' trip. Should be a few repair bays around there." Blaze suggested.

Re: The Periphery
"Captain, are you sure we need more recruits?" the pilot of mech 6 asked the group leader.
"War is a dangerous place, Brino."
"But they haven't even filled out any papers! You know they don't like it when we don't do the paperwork."
"Those papers aren't important anyways. It's basically just 'Have you ever done illegal stuff or been an enemy of TechTron Industries?' and other things no sane person would answer yes to."
"Well, we still don't know what we're doing here. Our orders were more or less to just sit around and wait for instructions, and the radio haven't picked up any instructions."
The captain smiled.
"Well," he said, "I choose to take that in such a way that we're free to do whatever the heck we want until-"
He was cut off by someone shouting from outside the bar.
"Hey guys I think my mech caught fire again."
"GOD DAMMIT JUAN!"

The shooting noise definitely attracted Amy's attention, "Damn rookies" said the bartender while filling another glass. A few men walked into the bar, one of them went towards the bartender. He leaned on the bar stall right next to Amy and began to speak "8 drinks for me and my boys". The bartender began to prepare the order. "Are you recruiting ?" asked Amy "Yea, but you don't look too fit for fighting" "I can take care of myself" "Well I need better than this, good day" he prepared to walk back to his table when Amy replied "Take the best of your men, any of them and I will beat him in my mech" the man stopped for a moment "Simulation mode ?" "Unless you plan to collect his remains from all over the wasteland" "or yours" he replied "Deal ?" asked Amy.

"I've never seen a mech catch fire like that unless it had a few holes through it." Night said, raising an eyebrow. He examined the eight pilots, if one could call them pilots, while the one talked to the woman he was trying to recruit. He spotted a patch on one of their uniforms. Techtron. Notorious for their half-assed training of pilots, and one of the parties that Black Sun's Breath was being paid to drive out of the planet. This sim might be a good opportunity to sample both her skill and the battle strategies of the enemy. It's a fair bet that she'd send them slinking away, recruitless, and BSB might just gain a willing 'warrior and Night, some more C Bills. He put his hand behind his back, making sure to brush his jacket out of the way of his battle-won medals.
"Don't suppose you'd let an old veteran sit in on your sim, would you?"

Re: The Periphery
"Of course you can watch, old man" the captain responded
"Rico, you wanna take this or should I do it?"
"You take it, señor. You have more guns."
The captain climbed into his mech and booted up the systems. He turned the cooling system to max to use the weapons as good as possible.
Mech stats:
He then activated the simulation mode, and pulled up the weapons interface.
The weapons used a priority-based auto-target system: you touched the target on the holoscreen, and the more fingers you used to touch, the higher the priority. Priority 1 meant the target could wait, while priority 5 focused all guns on the target.
"Prepare to get your ass kicked, ma'am."

Amy activated the on board computer and the main HUD appeared on the helmet screen. She switched the mech to simulation mode and took a shot with the plasma cannon. A virtual plasma ball appeared on the helmet screen. "ready when you are" she heard over the comm "let's dance" "You know you can give up now, I've got the big guns" "Big guns mean nothing"
Mech: TR-4 Maul
BTW how battles are played out ? I'd write here something but I feel kinda bad because if I win the battle is obviously bought but trying to loose in purpose is idiotic. If someone else is gonna do it I have my mech tactics detailed here, for the sake of fairness I will also spoiler it and hope daynel won't open it before writing his own tactics spoiler.

Re: The Periphery
I was kinda hoping to discuss the details and results of the battle with you in the chat, but I dunno.
Also if it wasn't clear in the mech stats thingy my tactic with this mech is basically choose the target, hope to avoid overheat and pray for the computer to do the rest.

I sorta Imagined Error like the one in charge will decide, each one brings his hidden tactic and then dies from anticipation until Error unfolds the cards, that or you can cheat but I assume we are on gentleman rules here.

Pilot: Ivan "Gamefreak" Kintobor
Character backstory: When he was young, Ivan was a bit of a gamer, but eventually turned his passion for action games into his profession when he built himself a mech designed and named after a mech from a rather old game.
Mech: F-6t Big Foot
Tonnage: 45.63 tons (metric)
Armor: Medium Assault
Weaponry:
Edit: I know it said each rack has 5-20 missiles, but I want mine to be an exact copy of the mech from Sonic Adventure 2, so let´s say Ivan removed the launching mechanisms from standard missile launchers and put them in a custom casing, you know, self-made weapons.

Re: The Periphery
Ash moved off the rock and disengaged the auto-repair. "It only needed a bit for most of the primary functions anyway," he said. As he spoke, the computer listed all of the components as online, save the power-damaged Nova Plasma Beam.
"If you say so," Karl replied. "Make yourself useful then, and see what you can get out of the dropship. We had several auto-defense turrets in there. Might help us." Ash turned and entered the dropship again to find them.
