Kakori's harness came down around him and he settled himself into Blue Flame. His helmet slowly descended onto his shoulders and made the link with his brain. He looked to his right, out of the dropship window, then to his left. On one side, nothing. Just a bunch of stars and planets ready for the taking. On the other, all the nobles and clanners and people and the bastards that sent Blaze and his comrades here. To the Periphery. Actually, the very outer ring of the Periphery. The Periphery of the Periphery. He activated his comm.

"Alpha lance-3 Blaze reporting. All systems functioning, gassed and ready to boot up."

Technicians unfastened the fusion fuel line clamps and released the secondary holding mechanisms.

"Alpha 1 to 3, I read you. Got a few minutes before landfall. Sounds pretty quiet down there, some isolated skirmishes near the Rigs, but it's gettin' hot quick."

"Just how I like it. Shouldn't 2 and 4 be ready by now?"

"I told 'em to be here three minutes ago, but you know how they are. I'll make sure they're ready before too long."

The Zuguthian 5th Mechanical Unit prepared for landing.
John climbed into his Dragon-III and activated the systems. Meters and screens lit up, and holopanels were projected all around him. He put on the control visor and ran through the system check list.
"Mech 5, all systems clear" he said into the intercom
The other mechs followed shortly after, with one exception.

"Mech 8 to all mechs, I think the engine's dead"
"Dammit Juan," the unit leader responded, "This is the 4th time this week! Are you sure you've turned off the security shutdown?"
A moment of silence followed.
"I uh.. fixed the problem. Engine up and running now."

The announcement system informed that they would land in 10 minutes. Technicians ran all around securing the mechs and making sure they were fully reloaded and had as many extra rounds as possible.
Suddenly, mech #8 caught fire.

As he was finishing up a small squad of infantry a Dropship flew above his head toward a semi-clear area to drop.
"Mechs and hopefully not many of them." Said Jack "If it is we need those blueprints like now Zric."

Structure - Classic walker configuration - central weapon platform mounted on two large legs allowing good mobility. Added thrusters on the leg base for increased mobility allowing the mech to lift from the ground for small distances imitating jumping. The main part of the platform is the heavy plasma cannon right in front of the cockpit. To the sides of it twin AC/15 and above them twin missile pods. At the back fuel and energy core together with a comm array, sensors located below the heavy plasma cannon.

A question about Medium assault - does it put limitations on weapon count in exchange for heavier armor ? It could fit me if not for the slow down - if it slows down as heavy what is the point in it ? Just take heavy - same speed and armor while no weapon limits.

Heavy armor I think makes you take more damage, less then Ultra but way more then medium.

Heavy armor protects you more but slows you down.
Medium armor is.. well, medium, while Ultra armor makes you sort of invincible but you can barely move.

OOC: You'd never be able to fit two AC/20s on a 50 ton mech unless you have no engine or armor. You could go with something like an Atlas or Dire Wolf, 90-100 ton range, then you might be able to fit two heavy autocannons and a missile rack or two.

@Fen: My lance is part of a slightly larger presence, a batallion containing about 50 pilots (spread throughout this sector of the Periphery), part of a Merc group known on the Mercnet as the Black Sun's Breath. We're here because our employer wanted to keep some of its mining and processing facilities, and also some kind of vendetta with some of the other Nobles.

Well from what I get those things are no bigger than the things originally being gatlings that I carry there, I needed something for long, medium and close range and that thing will serve me in CQC. I saw no reason why not have those lighter cannons, cmon they don't weight more than my plasma cannon and you didn't complain about that. Besides 50 Tons is exactly a weight of a standard real life tank and those have armor much thicker than of any of those mechs, their frameworks is not just a box on legs and overall they carry quite a stuff on them so 50 Tons is quite a number already.
