Re: Story Arc 2- The Conspiracy
Fenway barely had time to register the oncoming ship before it smashed through the damaged shields and into the bridge. Fenway didn't get out of the way in time. The Titanium-Steel frame imploded and the massive viewscreen shattered as the ship broke through the bridge. Fenway was caught on the nose of the ship and rammed, hard, through at least 15 interior walls as the ship skidded through the decks before finally coming to a stop. Fenway fell to the ground once it fell, severely injured. If it wasn't for his cybernetic implants and reinforced frame, he'd be dead. He manually activated several life-support mechanisms and pulled himself up. Already, several defense teams and medical staff were rushing towards him. He waved off the medical team and ordered the security to breach the hull of the ship that almost crushed him.
After a few minutes of cutting, a large piece of the hull fell off. Fenway grabbed a Gauss rifle and activated a small personal shield unit and stepped inside. It was completely wrecked. He weaved through the confines of the ship, peering in every room. If anyone had been here, they weren't now. Closer to the end of the ship, he forcefully opened the door to a cabin. Inside lay a Tien, Arxin, badly injured. There was blood everywhere. Fenway knelt down and checked him. He was alive.
Fenway picked up the limp body of Arxin and quickly left the ship. He gave him to the medical staff, ordering them to save him at all costs, and then went to his own medical bay as his life-support generators began failing.
OOC: I thought there were Equines Only, who are anthropomorphic ponies, Unicorns, Pegasi, rolled into one varied race. Can't we be simplistic here? We don't need 20 different races of the same type of creature here.

Our race our rules, and there are only 3, its not going to kill the RP if we have a few subspecies.Unit 340 wrote:OOC: I thought there were Equines Only, who are anthropomorphic ponies, Unicorns, Pegasi, rolled into one varied race. Edit: I didn't know equines were different from ponies I'll have to go and fix things

Re: Story Arc 2- The Conspiracy
Cats, you're being melodramatic. Strigiforme didn't invade those worlds, they got them from a treaty.
Cvy II-
The orbital manufactures and shipyards were devastated, and it would take years to repair the damage in full. However, on the surface of the icy world, the shield covering the pony camps remained. Inside, huddling in barely heated surface buildings, huddled equines. The Strigiforme bore particular hate for equines, and these ones were here because they wanted to remain in their homes. Though they had been working day and night in the camps mining and building components, their masters had no further use for them. They were herded into large buildings and gassed with neurotoxin. Any survivors were shot. They had already done their work though, unearthing a massive structure hidden for untold ages under the ice. An ancient Yttrium portal that could bridge universes. It was quickly loaded onto a heavily armored cruiser, and taken back to Cuuyth.
On Cuuyth-
The Barrage Cannon pointed at Cayla, and had been loaded with hundreds of various torpedoes. The Strigiforme were prepared to attack the Taln, should any prompt be given.
"Comms, instruct Barrage Cannon to aim for the Taln world of Stryyl IV, arming chemical agents and radiation bombs."
The Barrage Cannon fired its small maneuvering jets, pointing at a smaller Taln agricultural colony. The cannon fired, launching several chemical weapons that would kill most life, and radioactive weapons that could render areas hundreds of miles around uninhabitable.
The Strigiforme were going to show the Taln not to attack them.

Combat testing of armors completed.
Refits complete.
Research of plasma weapons has begun. They will replace kinetic weaponry, such as railguns, but MAC's will not be affected in older ships. In new ships a large plasma cannon will replace the MAC. A prototype is ready for testing, the results will tell if it is worth investing more money into.

Re: Story Arc 2- The Conspiracy
"...may fall, but the Protectorate is forever!" the words rang out across the plaza from the small speakers stationed atop trees scattered throughout it, and from two larger ones on each of the obelisks that flanked an ivory podium.
"The Protectorate is forever!" the crowd assembled for a funeral commemorating the meager casualties sustained above Cvy II chanted in response, their right wings - or right hands, where applicable - clasping to their opposite shoulders in salute. The tall, dark feathered Tien clothed in crisp black attire atop the platform did the same, and with a stiff bow stepped off and walked into the nearby group of similarly attired military officials.
One by one, attendees trickled towards the monument between the duo of obelisks to pay their respects to those lost in the battle, but an hour later the ceremony was over, the plaza deserted save for a single individual, a lean, silver furred equine. She glided over to the memorial stone and studied the flat obsidian. The bodies that once bore each of the names inlaid on it were already beyond recovery, either incinerated or simply out of reach in deep space, making a formal memorial impossible. Such expenditures on trivialities were looked down on in a conservative society such as that of Taln's, at any rate. The Equine, dissatisfied by her findings, yet heartened by the lack thereof, turned to head toward the TNC administrative office at the east end of the district, and paused.
Another of the same species and gender, albeit black furred and clothed in an unblemished Protectorate military uniform of the same color, was striding purposefully towards her. The equine considered her options. If this were official business, she'd have already been given a message to expect a visit. Her heart sank. If this was taking care of loose ends that could only mean...no, she could run, but the other looked just as fit as her, and could likely easily catch up without much effort. That left fighting. With her abilities she should be able to...though, as if sensing her intent, the other equine abruptly broke into a run and suddenly vanished.
"Don't even try it, Astra." a voice smoothly intoned from behind her as she stared wide eyed at where the assassin-apparent had been moments prior, but before she could spin around a strong arm wrapped around her chest. The black equine chuckled. "Even if that had worked and I'd been stupid enough to get in range of your powers, I've had much more training with mine."
"Who are you?" Astra forced out; the hold the officer exhibited was hampering her breathing.
Through her local psionic field, she felt the other equine's muzzle lift wistfully into the air, at the sky bordered by the district's immaculate greenery.
"A friend, let's leave it at that." The other equine made a motion within the field she had come to recognize as a cautious glance from side-to-side, and suddenly released her grip. Astra, suddenly wildly offbalance, tumbled forward to the marble-stone of the plaza's ground. The woman watched her as she got up, and then said, "I apologize for the rough treatment, but we can't have you trying to kill me, can we? That's assault."
She added extra emphasis to the last word to indicate the joking nature of the mention of the charge, and Astra saw a small smile form on her lips, but suddenly her features took a somber expression.
"Astra, I need to talk to you." Before she could retort, the other raised a hand in dismissal. "Yes, you did not get a message. That's because I don't want this contact in any form of record, electrical or otherwise."
The equine paused before continuing, but Astra could see well enough it was not to allow her to respond so much as the officer struggling with the nature of what she was about to say.
"You're not going to hear this from anyone in the military. They would sooner allow this whole debacle to be forgotten and pretend he's MIA, but..."
Another pause. "Who?" She asked tentatively, a sense of dread welling up in her heart.
"Your husband. He is confirmed dead as of late evening yesterday."
Astra could have sworn she saw tears beading up in the other's eyes, but she couldn't find the motivation to discern why as she sank to the ground once more, sitting down as a numbness spread throughout her body. She'd steeled herself for this possibility, this eventuality, apparently, but nothing could have quite prepared her for the sudden feeling of emptiness. She felt a hand fall on her shoulder as the officer attempted to comfort her.
"The reason he's not on that memorial is because TNC will deny the entire incident having anything to do with them." She murmured softly into Astra's ear. "Admiral Ulaz was stripped of his rank and dishonorably discharged. Did you think the same wouldn't happen to him? No, your husband is being posthumously convicted with treason. And you know why?"
The equine paused for a response that obviously wasn't coming, and then said breathlessly,
"To placate the Striigiforme."
Astra looked up at the officer blankly, opaque eyes glimmering in the sunlight. "Kill me."
The other shook her head in a negative and pulled Astra to her feet. "These are facts we must both live with."
* * *
There were voices in the darkness, but when Arxin reached for their meaning, all he received were broken words, spiels of letters without any context. He wanted to yell at them, to tell them to stop making so much noise as he wandered the confines of his broken mind and tormenting him, but when he opened his beak nothing came out. They were mocking him, he knew it. Mocking him for his inability to speak. Mocking him for his choices. Mocking him for deciding to call down the fleet to rescue a bunch of equines who were probably dead now due to his efforts. Perhaps one of them Astra, condemning him for deciding to go out in a blaze of glory.
In his rage he found the means to overcome his muteness.
"STOP IT!" He yelled, and the voices subsided, the sentences in their misshapen tongue dwindling down to echoes as they rebounded off the walls of his decidedly personal hell.
There was no point in moving. He could feel his limbs, but walking brought no gains in an abyss devoid of light, with no way to measure progress. All he could do was stumble forward and reflect on his many mistakes until his time here came to an end...though where 'here' was wasn't a conundrum that was solved by him effortlessly. The state sanctioned Church of Arveus taught that when you perished, you would be weighed against your crimes and deeds by an entity whose very form was inconceivable, and consigned to either another life with their memories gone until their next meeting with the keeper, or elevated to the Afterworld. Arxin had never fully bought into the concept, and perhaps that was hindering whatever judgement was reserved for him right now. But, on the other hand, dead men can't exactly confirm or refute what happens after their passing...
Arxin stopped in confusion. That was cognitive thinking, not a mere memory from a damaged brain. He'd thought that idea into existence...an action shouldn't be possible with the state of his mind. He was either finally leaving his physical form, or someone was healing him. But who..? Last he remembered he'd suicidally rammed the Aurora's bridge...if he was still alive the people aboard would have little cause to try to restore him to full health. But yet, as the voices resumed and the incomprehensible gibberish reasserted its presence, it slowly transformed into words spoken in Galactic Basic tinged by accents that were distinctly NeoRoman.
Consciousness...regain. A thought stressed itself in his mind through the damage layered with warning, the context of which Arxin immediately understood as he braced himself for a world of pain.
First the pain receptors coming online, then whatever interrogation and then...a tribunal and summary execution? The former Marshall pondered over this, and, deciding he couldn't land in a worse situation than the one he was just in, accepted the rope being handed down to his conscience.

Re: Story Arc 2- The Conspiracy
The NeoRoman Doctor was monitoring life-sign readings when Arxin cried out. "STOP IT!" he yelled. The doctor looked up at the table where Arxin lay. The table, sealed over the top through thick glass to allow the nano-machines to do their work, was slightly shaking. Several other personnel quickly surrounded the table, and the doctor, Alexis, unsealed the chamber. The other personnel began administering complex chemicals, usually reserved for the Hierarch, designed to give the brain back motor control.
By this time movement was increasing. It was clear that Arxin was awaking from the Coma he had been in for the past 72 hours. The room was filled with movement as the medical staff prepared to receive him. Alexis moved towards Arxin and engaged a small device, designed to limit the possible motor functions he could use. Safety, after what they had spent on him, they couldn't risk him killing himself, though it could be easily removed.
As cognitive functions increased, the Hierarch came in with his personal guard. Instead of the normal cybernetically-enhanced humans, he had a guard and several other staff of Tiens. They did live in NeoRome, but they were very secluded and isolationist. Some had decided to join the military. This was rare, but they made very capable staff. Because of their understanding with members of their own race, Fenway had decided it was a good idea to bring a few high-ranking members in for assistance with Arxin. Fenway ordered all of the doctors except Alexis and a few others out of the room. He took a seat behind the control panel, the Tien staff on either side of him, as Arxin regained consciousness.

All warships are slowly being refitted with Phazon enhanced systems.
FTL Disruption Technology has been upgraded effectively enough to disrupt phasing weapon systems well. This is excellent, in the wake of advancement that bypass shielding. Mechanisms are being shipped to every fleet.

---Message to Cavnin Nation---
It would be possible to use the Roboticizer tech, it turns organic material into mechanical parts, which can be modified, and you still get back the original being after reversing the process.
Of course, the roboticizer is infamous for having been used as an enslavement tool, but that was a modification to the original design, it works perfectly without removing the free will.
As our ally, we will ship you 1 medical-issue standard roboticizer/deroboticizer unit for free.
