Story Arc 2- The Conspiracy

Admiral Bryan Garret was worried. No, terrified. Not that he let it show. A rebel Andromedan Fleet had just reached Phalanx Prime. They had made the journey on stealth and low power FTL drives to remain undetected. And the enemy fleet had a dreadnought. Garret tightened his lips, ordering his ships forward. He said over the fleet intercom: "This is it, men. Do not let me down. If you surrender, know that you have aided the enemy in their mission of genocide.Vectors, converging cone formation. Phoenixes, wedge formation. Penetrators, hold the line should they break through. All Glaives and Gladii, open rectangle. Triremes, matrix. Bombers, initiate your runs. Interceptors, do your work. Gunboats, cause havoc in general. All cruisers, to me. He positioned his ship in the middle of the open-ended frigate formation. He watched as interceptor after interceptor, bomber after bomber, gunboat after gunboat, winked off the screen. A few pilots, however, chose to make the ultimate sacrifice for their comrades and families. He watched in silence as 5 enemy frigates, 3 cruisers, and a battlecruiser succumbed to his men's kamikaze runs. He ordered his formation forward, just as the Vector-Class corvettes converged on the enemy. He ordered his formation straight at the enemy dreadnought. The Glaive winked off the screen. then the Perciles. Then the Maximus. Then the Hercules. Weapon fire was exchanged between the two fleets constantly. He gained a savage delight as he saw the enemies corvette and fighter force had succumbed to the onslaught of his men. His smile disappeared as he saw all of his gunboat, fighter, and bomber force had been destroyed. He saw the dreadnought turn its fire on his formation and ordered the detonation command to his ships. Their force suddenly expanded into a seemingly chaotic, spherical formation that gave the enemy little maneuvering room.He himself, though, ordered to redline his ship's drive. "Set a direct intersection course for the enemy Dreadnought. His light cruiser fired all weapons at the enemy dreadnought. Suddenly, it his crew. They would rendezvous with glory tonight. His little cruiser plowed on, weaving yet going on a straight course to the enemy dreadnought's main gun. His ship impacted the dreadnought. No more dreadnought.

Cleanup took only a few hours after the destruction of the enemy dreadnought. New ships were put forward to replace the ones lost in battle. Horus Arkanian sighed and took a sip of coffe. It was going to be a long, bloody, war.

Fenway read several reports on events in the galaxy.

He was looking into the organization that had cropped up. He had already sent the profile information of the two terrorists to the EE, and was awaiting a response. He hoped it would arrive soon.

But he had other matters. The rebellion in the United Andromedan Colonies was not going well. Analysis reports said the rebels were very likely to win. And their ideals clashed with their interests- Speciesists. Genocidal.

And there was something odd about it. Fenway felt that there was a connection between this organization and the rebellion. If what the prisoners had said is true, they could be orchestrating countless events everywhere. So he decided to act.

The Rebellion in the UAC threatens security and peace in this sector. The Fourth Defense Fleet is to be mobilised and sent to the UAC to assist the government

Admiral Laina received this message. She was in charge of the fleet. She smiled, and left NeoRome to board the dreadnought Harmony.

The Fourth Defense Fleet is enroute to the Jump Gate to assist with the rebellion. It is headed by Admiral Laina in the dreadnought Harmony. Laina will assist where possible. She will also follow your orders at her own discretion, though we will remain in control of operational authority.

Several planets unfurled and ignited their power cores near the quantum gate. Meant to be an emergency power supply, they ran off the same kind of reactor NeoRome has. They connected to the quantum gate and quickly activated it, allowing the Fourth Fleet in when it arrived.

The NeoRoman fleet reaches the Quantum Gate. The sections power up, supplied by the planets nearby it, before the center devolves into a swirling vortex. The fleet enters the vortex, one by one.

Halfway through entering, an explosion goes off. One of the ships veers off course and self destructs, though the portal's shields take the damage. Another veers off course, and another. They all explode and the shields do not fall. A transport, trailing behind the rest of the fleet and not marked by NeoRoman symbols, then veers toward the central power network. Sensor readings on the ship, moments before detonation, indicate a Meson Bomb. The detonation pierces the shields and cripples the stability matrix of the portal. The Vortex flickers and then collapses, as the three main power rings circling the vortex lose momentum and stop. Power sparks between the three portal generation pieces as the entire thing shuts down, just as the Darkstar and Orion fleets arrive. It is shut down permanently. A large ship jumps out of the system as the fleet figures out what happened. It was not NeoRoman.

OOC: The Portal on the Main Galaxy side is crippled and useless, potentially permanently. Your fleets did not make it through to Andromeda because it shut down as you arrived. Just clarification.
